What I Miss About my Mother

Monday, October 26, 2020

Every time Helena would do or say something funny, I would call Mom and tell her. Despite the memory not always working, she would give a big, hearty laugh. I wish I could still do that.

For example, Alec texted me Saturday with the following story - they were talking about Halloween costumes: (Mind you, she's just 6)

A: You should be a bird.
H: I can't be a bird because I am knocked up.
A: wait, what?
H: I can't be a bird because I am knocked up.
A: Are you sure about that?
H: Actually, I'm locked up, I'm locked up!

These are the times that I say it out loud believing Mom can hear me.
