New Part-time Job
Thursday, December 17, 2020
I mentioned earlier that I had an interview for a part-time job. It isn't very many hours, or much pay, but that doesn't matter a whole lot to me. I want a small job to take my mind off myself and my grief to some extent, and start thinking more of others.
My dd was working as a school aide, and just loved the job and the kids. But the pay was low, and the hours were few. When she was offered a temporary full-time job, and $4 per hour *more* than the school aide job, she decided to take it, even though it makes her very sad just to think of leaving the school and the kids.
So I decided to apply for the aide job. I figured that unless they already had someone in mind, they probably would hire me. In fact, when I told Cecily's boss that I was interested in applying, she was just thrilled. I did have to interview with the principal, who is a really good man. It was a very short interview. He asked about my experience, which I have tons of (I have worked with kids for sixteen plus years), and we chatted for a bit. I am going to start next semester, sort of on probation - if I don't like it, or there ends up being some sort of problem, then I won't be able to stay. But I expect it will go well. I am pleased about it.
