COVID-19 and appetite

Saturday, January 09, 2021

My husband tested positive for COVID-19. I tested negative even though I have some symptoms. I was sick for about a week. I am getting better now. It was mild for the most part, I only really suffered with feelings of tightness in my lungs. My husband is still a bit sick. We are resting a lot these days. I thought that when I was sick that my appetite would leave, but it did not and I even craved junk foods even more. Maybe it was stress? I am not sure. My weight went up about 3 pounds, which I don't believe is all that bad, all things considered. I am feeling better so I am now going to start to pay more attention to what I am eating. Today I was able to track my foods. I am trying to drink less coffee and more water. I still don't have a lot of energy, but I am up more and not so much in the bed like I was a few days ago. I am slowly coming back to life. I am happy to be getting out of this sickness with not much damage. We will be out of quarantine after Jan 18th. So far things are looking up. Today my appetite is not so crazy out of control and I think it is because I am beginning to realize that my husband and I are going to be alright. It is a scary thing to be quarantined with COVID-19. We are thankful to the Lord that our illness is not so severe. I still have to rest every few minutes, but I am able to do things in small batches. I can get up from bed and do a small amount of dishes, then go lie down again. I can get up, take a shower, and then go rest. It has been like this for a few days. Before we were in bed almost the whole day. It is nice to sit up and to stand and to get out of bed. I can see the sunlight shining through the window today and it gives me hope. New changes will be coming to our country. A new year has started. I pray that we will see many good things this year, all of us.

I'm so glad yours turned out to be a mild case and that you and your husband are on the mend! It's scary when you know some folks have symptoms no worse than a cold or the flu, while others end up in the hospital fighting for their lives - and there's no way to know which end of the spectrum YOU'LL be on until you've caught it. Many people I've spoken to ended up with fatigue that lasted long after other symptoms disappeared. Take care of yourself and don't push too hard, too soon!
