Spiritual Safety Matthew 17:15-23 Jan 15 2021

“Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them. “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.” Matthew 17:22

Is physical safety on your mind today? As we watched on TV the Capitol building being attacked does that change how you think about safety? We need to be concerned about security and yet so many people neglect the security of our souls. There are spiritual terrorists all around us. Jesus calls them “ wolves in sheep’s clothing” and issued some stern warnings to alert us to the dangers.

These wolves are false teachers and prophets who appear to be genuine but they are full of their own schemes and have their own agendas. They look and sound good but they are consumed with lust and greed. Usually this is not apparent at first. They preach a fine gospel and make it appealing . But then they begin to blend inaccurate stuff with the facts. People start to ignore the untruths and feel that they are listening to only truth.

You can usually recognize these people, because they begin to question the Bible’s authority and its relevance in todays society. Little is said about living a holy life, or being careful to obey the whole counsel of God.they begin to justify how they live. False teachers want followers more than they care about your welfare. As Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:16. Be very discerning and ask God to protect you from false prophets. Stay safe spiritually.
