You Gotta Be Willing

With COVID looming, my family and I were still able to have a lovely Christmas, complete with an outdoor Christmas Eve church service (15 degrees with light snow) and a week of isolation so that we could see the grandparents. It was a magical holiday, and I enjoyed my share of homemade treats with no guilt. I can always shape up after the holiday, right?
Then, Happy 2021!, and those treats were still pretty good...and the jeans were getting snug. I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror at home and thought, Uh-uh. Yes, it was time. So this week, I'm back to tracking, eating healthier, and fitting in exercise.
It's funny, though, how a week ago I wasn't ready. I just wasn't ready. I didn't WANT to track food or get on the treadmill. I preferred to curl up with a book and a few chocolates or a glass of wine. And that's okay. I just wasn't ready. I didn't have the will.
That's half the battle, isn't it? We may WANT to lose some weight, fit into a pair of jeans, or look good for a special occasion. The WANT isn't the problem; it's the DO. That's the hard part...and we've got to be ready to take on that challenge.
You wouldn't go rock climbing without your gear, would you?
I'm geared up: water bottle, salad fixings, treadmill and workout clothes. Heck, I'm wearing yoga clothes under my long sweater at work today so that I can sneak in fitness at the drop of a hat. It's a challenge for me, and I'm up for it.
