It's Finally February

I almost forgot about updating my fitness journal. To be honest, I haven’t even looked at it for a week. I also have not read anything in my book for a week…which was one of my goals for January. Oops already slacking during the first month of the year. I guess that makes me “normal” as most people give up their new year resolutions by the end of January.
We get to turn a new page in our calendar and journal today. This new month also starts on a Monday. The day of the week that most people think they have to wait for to start anything new. Well if that is the case, then today is your day.
Actually I am not totally sure what 2 goals that I want to concentrate on this month. I can think of quite a few things that I want to change, but realistically I am not sure that I can consistently change bad habits. Supposedly bad habits provide some kind of benefit to our lives. Well now, that’s another internet opinion that I don’t agree with. I am just naturally a lazy person who can procrastinate about anything and bad habits are easy to keep doing. Good or bad..if you do a habit long enough, it just feels normal & natural. You do it without even thinking, like breathing.
One of my housemates has a goal to read 15 minutes every day for this month, and seeing as I didn’t stick with it last month obviously that is something I need to work on. So yeah..there is goal #1…read every day. I signed up for the reading challenge on goodreads.
For goal #2 It was a toss-up between going for a walk every day (including on my lazy weekends) or eliminating junk food for the whole month. Now that depends on your definition of “junk” food. I thought of this today because my half-brother told me this morning that he was diagnosed as diabetic about a month ago. Our dad is also diabetic. They are both BIG guys. So far my brother isn’t taking any medication for it, but as we were chatting online, his local hospital called him to schedule an appointment for next Monday to discuss diabetes. He then tells me that he is refusing to take the medication called “Metformin”.
I will have to remember to contact him next week, to see how his appointment went.
