The 'Fat Whoosh' effect
Monday, February 08, 2021
Have you experienced it? You work on weight loss but it goes very slowly, or you have a plateau. Then one day you weight goes down quite a bit.
It seems that this is due to the 'Fat Whoosh' effect. I hope the picture below is clear. If not you can google it to see it.
The circle on the left represents a fat cell fully loaded with fat. The second image shows a cell that is beginning to lose fat, and collapsing a bit, waiting for new fat to come in.
The cell fills up with water anticipating more fat. That's also the third image.
Finally when no new fat has come in, the cell is completely filled with water, and then at some point 'gives up' and collapses; it lets go of the water and that's when you will see the sudden weight loss.
