Figuring Out Maintenance

Well, my weight has basically been a roller coaster ride since around September of 2018. It is interesting that my binge behavior was never a problem while I was working my way to goal the first time (well, after 35 years of trying). I began Weight Watchers (now WW) 2/7/2017 and lost 127 lbs to get to my goal weigh on 6/12/2018. And my weight loss graph was pretty much a really nice downward trending line with about 2 gains.

Maintenance went well for a few months, but then I started back at school, and Outdoor Leadership Program at the local community college that I thought would help me firm up some ideas that were rolling around in my head as to a post retirement job. I don't know if that is the connection, being out and about, but the binge behavior returned and has been an issue since. I now have two cycles of gaining at least 30 lbs and then getting back to my PGW (personal goal weight). Right now I am 25 lbs over my goal weight and I am ready to work back down.

But I am tired of this cycle, which is one reason I decided to check out Spark People again. I remember the gamification, plus something "new" can help me with this reset. I know I do want to get back to my PGW, I was amazingly fit and I had never felt like that before. Able to hike up a mountain without feeling like I was going to lose a lung - it was actually a comfortable experience which I never thought would happen for me. And the amount of energy I had throughout the day, phenomenal. So now I work on myself, see what I can figure out, and get back that fitness.

    Yup, Maintenance is a Challfenge! Once we find Healthy Habits, we need to maintain them, imagine that, LOL! I think SparkPeople is a great place to keep one's attention on thriving.

    I know that it takes just as much work to maintain our weight as it does with losing. But keeping a positive attitude, and working on this daily, you will manage maintenance as well.

    So happy to be tuned in! I'm in a problematic weight cycle right now. For a few recent months I started to get it back under control (by coming back to SparkPeople), but recently things have spun back out of control, and I don't have the umph to it rein in again yet. Just hanging out at the moment.

    Hope you and S are generally thriving, in spite of this area of discomfort. Robert and I are managing relatively well. I turned SEVENTY NINE Tuesday -- Whew! Had a small celebration of friends around a fire pit.

    I am also trying to figure out maintenance. It is easier to loose a large amount of weight than to keep the weight off.
