Breaking a Silence

Monday, March 01, 2021

I haven't been "present" for a while.

Finally, the ice melted, and with it, my catatonic body curled into a ball began to seek movement.

With this new 5% Challenge (which will wind to closure this Saturday), I had to stick like glue to my dog, my Personal Trainer a year ago, as she wound down. I will always remember her as The Most Housebroken Dog Ever, who housebroke herself once she realized I wouldn't yell at her if she needed to go out in the middle of the night. She was truly amazing up to the end.

Then we experienced winter. As usual for me, when ice abounds, I stayed inside as much as I could. I curled up into a ball; I forgot I have a treadmill inside. Then I remembered the treadmill, and how I created a crisis last May/June for my right foot with my enthusiasm; age... age... age...

I had to start moving again, so baby steps... 2.7 mph on the treadmill, and my body could feel the strain. The snow and ice has melted, so it's time for me to make the walk around the neighborhood without my sidekick. I need to wave and yell "Take care" to the neighbors who pop out of their houses. They will swear they saw Lucy emoticon leading the way, the friendliest and funniest dog in the neighborhood. Gotta check on "her people!"

Time to grieve, time to heal, time to tend to myself.
