In my quest to find a healthier me and a way of eating that helps me lose weight, have energy and FEEL good, I tried the genopalate program. I misread something since i thought it was to help me choose foods that would help me lose weight and feel my best. It is based on your DNA which you can load from your ancestry or 23 and me results if you have done that already.
The ad says, "Use the latest genomic nutrition science, your DNA data, and GenoPalate's Personalized Nutrition Analysis to optimize your health." & "Enjoy the robust flavors of foods that may help nourish your body and increase your energy." I am not convinced. The diet feels like the SAD diet which i already know does not help stabilize my rising blood sugars.
I currently have 30-50 grams of carbs a day (roughly 20-25%) and they recommend 51-58% of my daily calories be carbs. My blood sugars in the mornings are already high so i am not sure i want to raise this limit. 20-25% protein and 23-30% fat. You can add filters of fish, wheat, gluten, ht, wt, age, vegetarian or not, soy, meats, gluten, etc to personalize the food list some what. They give you foods listed best, great, good which does not make sense to me either.
They try to sell supplements which i am not willing to buy at this point but some of the recommendations are what i am already taking. Magnesium, calcium and vitamin D help my leg cramps, help me sleep and hopefully help keep my BP down out of stroke ranges. I also take tumeric and B complex to help with energy levels and i feel they help. The supplements are $60 a month on my page. They do give you specific doses to aim for on each recommended supplement. Blood sugar control is an extra $10 a month. I would rather buy real food.
They recommend canola and corn oils for me which are inflammatory and i already struggle with inflammation so, again, not sure i agree with the report.
They give you a free video chat with others where you learn the basic components of the app and are able to ask questions but you might get a response that sounds "canned" or generic. I really do not feel it is specific to me as implied in the ad. I am not sorry i did it, but i would not do it again. To be fair, i did pay for the scaled down version of the report
I have some books from the library and i will continue to research until i find what works. I may need more carbs and i may not. I need to experiment more. I feel like the carbs need to be veggies and not breads, pasta's, chips. I feel sluggish after eating those. The arthritis pain in my knees have made exercise more of a challenge but not impossible. I just move slower...LOL !
