Life can be amazing at times....can't it?

Tuesday, March 30, 2021

Good morning my lovely spark family!
Going to give a little info about myself, it may come across as bragging, or too much etc I am sorry in advance ,but dammit I am proud of whom my parents raised me to be....:)

I have been working since I was 14 yrs old, I am now 48...and I have only ever applied or went out to look for a job once in my life ...yup u read that right...no I have not been at the same job all this time, I have had many different kinds of jobs...I will explain:

Summers age 14 and 15- my mom worked at a factory making those candy arrangement, she got me in to work the warehouse (as she knew I could do it) I operated the glue machine , glued those arrangements into boxed , packed them , used a tow motor to bring the skits to the shipping area, cleaned out the glue machine when needed, and filled it , and had to know how to fix that machine if it malfunctioned...loved that job! the men in the warehouse did not like that I can do their job just as well( if not better lol) but man I loved that job!

Age 16 I moved out and moved to Whitehorse Canada, was out looking for an apartment with my then boyfriend ..and stopped in the McDonald;s for a bite to eat...some how the way I interacted with a customer in line impressed the manager, she came over when I was eating and offered me a job, I was there for only a week and was already manager....that job did not last long as I was only there for 3.5 months and moved back to Ontario, Canada as I was in a very abusive relationship and his mother started on me also....

The rest of age 16 a friend of mine got me in a local hotel cleaning rooms,,,shortly after this is where I met my husband..that lasted about 7 months as I hurt my back and my boss did not want to believe it was work related...looking back at this I wish I pushed the subject more ...but it is done and over...

Took a break from that day t0 18 as hubby and I was pregnant had our son at age 17...and took some time for him...did a home day care while hubby finished school and worked...

Age 19 -THIS is the only job I looked for , went out for , had to fight for etc...Applied to Winners...Like Marshell's in the States.....not sure why this one was so hard to get but ...I ended up being there for 13 yrs got to Management etc...left as Dad had his stroke

Age 31-33 ish- was shopping at Home Scense ( TJ Maxx like)- and a previous employee from winners was now manager there and hired me on the spot...was a key holder there...was there for about 3 yrs

Age 36- Cleaned for a local company which again ran into someone and they hired me on the spot for ....was there for 7 yrs or one of my clients like what she seen in me and asked me to go in and apply for Life
Labs which I got hired right way...

Since leaving life labs due to mom and dad being sick and passing away...I have been cleaning I have started my own business....

NOW to recently...I am on a local face book group for Beachbody since I am a Coach,,,I made a comment here and on there saying that my business is taking on a different direction as my elderly clients are asking me to do some personal stuff for them , shopping etc....
well she remembered that post , never met this women in my life, have no idea who she is...and she pm me asking if I would be interested in Care giver position for a handicap lady...sounds interesting so we had a phone interview, then a second interview while I was at work, and then had a meet and greet and I met the young lady....Chantel....will find out in a few days if I got this...I am pretty sure I do...but if not doesn't matter ...why?

Well like I said , there is something about me----have no idea what lol, that I just get offered jobs without having to go out and look etc....and it feels good to send that kind of vibe out in the world...so yes Dammit I am super proud of myself and the person my parents raised , and standing true to myself...

gotta go, day off today so it is clean my own home and meal prep day...

Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

Chow for now
Ange

    Verrry interesting!
I love hearing peoples job history’s.
It really is a peek into their lives and how they’ve changed over the course of their lives.
My history is similar to yours as in I left home at 16, got married young blah blah blah but my husband and I put each other through college and I did end up teaching for 28 years and, like you, Retired to take care of my aging parents.
By the way, because I took care of my mom for a few years and we moved to a condo which had a lot of old people living there I ended up with a private duty elder care job which I did for seven years until my grandkids came along.
I loved working with the old people, especially the old men, they were so grateful.
I always told my clients usually, or almost always the elder’s daughter, that I am a retired teacher not a nurse so I didn’t have to do too much of the personal or medical care.
    It worked out perfectly.
I was more of a respite for those daughters and it was good stimulation for the old folks.
I hope you get the job with the handicapped woman and find it as rewarding as I did.
