TWOsday, Tuesday

Tuesday, April 06, 2021

I spun a two for three teams today, so it's TWOsday. Work also finally scheduled me to get my laptop replaced - the current one is still running Windows 7! That hasn't been supported for well over a year. The new one will, of course, be a Windows 10 computer. Not a fan, but what are ya gonna do - it's work's computer.

This means I will need to drive in to Deerfield at O'dark-thirty Friday morning so I miss rush-hour on the tollway. A half hour difference in starting time means a lot more congestion on the toll and expressways. I will take my own laptop with so I can park across the street at the hotel and use their wifi until my appointment. I will also take a book because they won't let me bring my laptop into the office.

Tomorrow afternoon a man is coming to level that large display cabinet I posted pictures of back in December. It is currently in my front hall and looks marvelous, but the floor is very much not-level and I don't dare put even the shelves into it until it is leveled. It is a Henredon piece and has levelers in the bun feet, but it's too heavy for me to try doing it. Once that's done, I can unpack more boxes and put stuff on the shelves.

My work laptop and personal PC laptop I bought last year have Windows 10. My personal favorite Windows system was years ago... XP. I have a 9-year-old MacBook Pro that I still use most of the time. I think Windows 8 was out at the time and it was so awful that I decided to go the Mac route instead. I am apparently a PC person as the Mac has never been "intuitive" for me. But I did learn to use it and can now navigate both Mac & PC.

My beef with both the Mac and Windows 10 is that I can never find what I'm looking for using the search feature. For example, I even KNOW part of a file name, so I type it in, and it doesn't show up. I never had that problem with XP.

I've been a Mac user since emoticon , and when my school district decided to replace all the Mac computers and make us uniformly PC, it was a sad day! emoticon I was so happy to "retire" emoticon from the constant upgrades and needless steps. DH uses a PC with Windows, and he and I do not share our laptops with one another. emoticon

I was the lucky person who was the first in my department to get Windows 10 when my old computer totally crashed. There are things Windows 7 did better. Good luck!

My laptop is so old I don't even know what Window's I have, I know I did upgrade a few years back, but still don't know. Is there a way I can find out? Glad you are having someone to help you level that beautiful piece of furniture. I can't wait to see it in all it's glory, it is going to be amazing.

I was happy with Windows 7, but the laptop I bought to replace it in 2019 came with Windows 10.
It works fine fortunately, not much new to get used to. Stuff is in a different place kind of like my supermarket every few months. LOL

You are making great progress. Slow and steady will get it done.

We just put Windows 10 on my old laptop and I am using my new laptop with Windows 10 some. Ugh. Change is not always fun, I guess.

Sounds like you are coming alone well.
