I work too much

Tuesday, April 13, 2021

I never really stop and realize how much I truly work. I have to work 50 hours a week, but I have so much to do that that 50 hour work week turns into 60....or more. I commute so I have to tack another 45+ minutes each way onto my already long work day. *Sigh*.

Work is very important; I'm the main bread winner in my family, so I continue to trek along and do what I need to do day in and day out, but I do wish something could change. I'd love to be able to go back to "normal" work hours of 40-45 some day.

I am taking steps to buy a house because my rent is beyond outrageous and they just keep jacking it up every time the lease rolls around. I have one more year on this lease, since I chose to do a 2 year one this time so they couldn't jack it up again. I plan on buying a house that I can afford if I wind up going back to a "normal" 40-45 hour work week and still be able to pay it all by myself.

I'm hoping to find one by the highway so my commute won't be so bad; I spend the majority of my drive time in the city just to get to the highway, so if I could hop right on the main roads, I'd be set!

Have lots of goals for this year and excited and nervous at the same time to get them started.

I haven't worked in 19 years. I miss earning money and the respect you get from a job well done. Before I stopped working I ran a daycare out of my home so there was no commute at all. I live in the north where there is tons of snow so not having to drive was a bonus. It will be nice if you can find a house that shortens your commute. Hope it all works out for you.
