April 20, 2021 THERE IS HOPE

What causes people to lose hope? What things have to happen to get us to a point where we feel there is no hope left in a situation? When we feel hopeless, we believe all is lost and there is nothing left to hope for. We may have had a series of bad events in our lives. We may have had to deal with doubt or suffering and we can’t see the end of the tunnel. We feel trapped and helpless. No one plans to lose hope but our experiences in life can certainly create a sense of hopelessness if we allow them to.

However, when we do feel all is lost, trapped or abandoned, there is still hope. Hope can be found when we choose to look for it. There are compassionate people who can and want to help. We just have to be willing to seek them out. There are professionals who can give us some comfort and encouragement. We just have to reach out to them. But most of all, there is God. He hasn’t left us at all. He is still with us. If we will turn to Him and express our trust and faith that He will come through, He will.

SCRIPTURE:
Titus 2:12b-13 “We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write ways you put your hope in God.
2. List some things you can turn over to God.
3. Know God wants you to put your hope in Him.
4. Seek ways to encourage others to put their hope in God.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we never have to think that all is lost when we put our hope in You. You have the right plan for our lives and despite the troubles we have to deal with, we can put our hope in You. There is nothing that could ever happen to us that You can’t handle. We are so grateful You are bigger than our problems. When we put our faith and trust and hope in You, You will deliver all You have promised to us. Thank You, Lord. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

REMEMBER:
Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” (NLT)

Psalm 42:5-6a “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!” (NLT)

Psalm 25:5 “Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” (NLT)

Proverbs 23:17-18 “Don’t envy sinners, but always continue to fear the Lord. You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed.” (NLT)

Psalm 38:21-22 “Do not abandon me, O Lord. Do not stand at a distance, my God. Come quickly to help me, O Lord my savior.” (NLT)

FOCUS:
Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.” (NLT)
