Consistency, Community and Weight Control

Consistency, now isn't that the key to weight loss?
All my life I have used various diets (I hear the "me too's!" out there.)
Name them.....Weight Watchers, HCG 123, Keto, Hallelujah - 80% raw food diet, Jenny Craig, Beach body.....and the list goes on.
The one thing that made them all successful was staying committed to the program. Consistency.
What was missing in them all, for the long term, was community.
There is not place I feel like I can go and get the kind of support, positive energy, encouragement and understanding, that I get here at Spark People. I just can't talk to just anyone about this plight of mine to lose weight.
I used to work at a weight loss clinic in the 1980's. I witnessed women come in, pick up their food, which, back then, were delicious frozen meals. And they dropped weight beautifully. Consistently eating controlled calories. They met with me once a week and spent a lot of money. I mean a LOT of money.
Not many continued on the maintenance program once they hit her goal weight. But I would see them a year later and sign up again. No community. No soft place to fall.
Here on Spark I feel there is no judgement. We have an unspoken language, and understanding. We all LOVE food and love to eat. And it's okay because we are all working toward the same goal.
We love ourselves too. Our health and quality of life are important to us.
We learn to balance out the love of food and the love of life and in the process learn to love ourselves and each other.
We witness success together. We have personal strengths we bring to the one another with positive posts, food ideas, encouragement, share successes and build a better life together.
We join challenges and feel the community collective desire to make one another proud that we are on the team.
And when we post we are talking about the same thing and you get to know people who have friended you and you watch and encourage and get encouraged.
This platform works.
So how about you...do you feel the Spark of Love of the People around you too?
Thank you to everyone who posts encouraging words. It means a lot. Rock ON!
