Week four, 5% Spring Challenge

Gained this week...again. It is so defeating! For the last several months I’ve been kicking around the same five pounds. It’s my own fault...I’m not watching my intake as closely, not exercising as vigorously...not Sparking as I should be.

Last week was difficult. I woke up Tuesday morning with a sneezing attack. This progressed to full blown allergies consisting of congestion, watery burning eyes, and feeling blah. I had a golf date, which I kept...but paid for it when I got home. So I threw myself into a pity party for the next couple of days. Dosed w allergy meds, eye drops, removed contacts, etc. By Friday I was feeling better. So we went out on the was a glorious, sunny, but breezy day. We pulled into the dock at our favorite restaurant and had lunch, then motored around a bit more. By the time we got home, the allergies had kicked in again! Ugh!

I’ve never had allergy problems this was a new experience for me. We’ve only lived in coastal NC for two years...but last year was covid so we were inside all the time. I’m back on the meds and will stay on them for a while. I think I’m reacting to grass pollen, believe it or not. The weather folks report that those counts are high right now, and the tree pollen counts are low.

Our directive for this week is to count our exercise minutes (will do better), continue w our decluttering, and add a freggie to the first meal of the day. I eat yogurt and fruit for breakfast every day, so that one is super easy for me. But, I want to be more mindful of my other meals. Last week, I ate a lot of sammies for lunch which is my go to when I’m not feeling well. Eating a salad while my head was congested just wasn’t appealing. So I will def add a salad to my regimen this week. Who knows...maybe the scales will move in the right direction!

Sorry to be so down w this post. I’m not giving up...that is not an option. Just needed to voice my frustration to my fellow Sparkers who totally get it! Thanks for all your support! It means more than you know!

Florida’s allergy season is finally winding down, and I am all too familiar with every symptom you mentioned. emoticon Hopefully you’ll adjust to your new seasonal pollen. Hang in there, we’re all in for the long term. Yes, Daughter’s stealth cat is a real character. He loves to chew on things, much like a puppy, and spent a lot of his younger days at the vet getting his stomach pumped for whatever he’d consumed—sock, washcloth, corner of chair. He’s somewhat better these days, but daughter still has to be careful about what’s in his foraging range.

Allergies are just another sign of "maturity" that no one told us about when we were younger. I don't know any of my close friends who have not developed some sensitivities with the years. emoticon

Pity parties happen to all of us. I had on myself after I cut my hand and needed stitches. This is a new day/week/month. Do the best you can!
