Pine Mountain is located near Gorham, NH. It is about 130 miles from our home, and on Sunday, we had a chance to hike it.
Up above treeline the distance I see
This is the place where my spirit is free
It's a quiet place few people around
On top of the mountain that's where I am found
My mountain is calling and so I must go
I will leave these green, lush valleys below
It's up about with tree line that I find a place
With Earth below me, I feel heaven's embrace.
Pine Mountain and Gorham New Hampshire is a 180-mile round trip hike. From this little mountain, you get big views. We were alone for most of the hike and that is how we like it. The temperature was was 80ﾟ and very comfortable with the wind softly blowing. Larry Davis is the unofficial tender of this trial and he does a great job. We saw one fallen pine tree that was across the trail near the start of the Pinkham B road trail. Just off of the Horton Center trail.
Take time to stop at the chapel vista. It is a beautiful spot with views of the cliffs as well as the presidential mountains.
We took our time and hiked it in 3 hours including a snack at a summit.
