Wii want to play??

Thursday, January 03, 2008

So I did something brave, interesting, (and possibly even a tad bit on the stupid side) tonight. I paid $70 for a video game...I ordered Dance Dance Revolution for our new Wii.

Why, you ask? Do I have a deep hidden desire to be on Dancing with the Stars? Hardly...if anything I have 2 left feet. What intrigues me the most about this game (aside from the astonishing price tag) is the WORKOUT & EXERCISE possibilities. If I pull the blinds, and close the curtains...no one will know what I'm doing or how poorly I'm doing it. It won't matter how bad I am, how much I can't dance, or that I resemble a one-legged pregnant giraffe on booze. What WILL matter is that I'll be getting UP, being ACTIVE, and getting some much-needed exercise. I'm especially interested in the workout mode. :-)

While I don't think this is the answer to my workout woes, I DO think it is a step in the right direction. I have a love/hate relationship with exercise--I hate to be hot, and I hate to sweat, and I get bored easily. I've tried walking, the treadmill, the gazelle, a gym, walking the dog, riding my bike...you name it, I get tired easily and bored quickly. My hopes is that this FUN game will get me up & moving, and that is the biggest hurdle for me in the exercise "game."

Hi, Kim! I got a Wii for my birthday, and Lydia and Paul love it! I like the golf, but it doesn't keep me that active. However, it is better than reaching for the food!!!

Let me know how Dance Dance Revolution is, ok? I'm a klutz, and I wonder if I would be any good at it at all. Maybe I could find it for cheap on e-bay...

Hope your day is going great!!!

You will LOVE DDR. I have had it for a while now, and it's amazing just how much you can get that heart rate up and keep it going and burn tons of calories in the process. It's actually a great stress reliever too. You can actually have FUN and not care who's watching, just like when you were a kid! Be as goofy as you want, and still get the benefits of some good exercise! Let me know how when you get it because I know you're going to be so glad you spent that money. It's definitely worth it!!
