Health Update

After a 5 hour stay in the ER yesterday afternoon into the evening and 2 of my docs(the Ambulatory care doc from the day before and my private doc) calling for ct scan results to be read, I finally found out that I have a massive sinus infection throughout my sinuses and am on prednisone and heavy antibiotic and Claritin D. Have to see ENT doc on Monday. Sweating out the infection big time...but feeling better.

I went to the lab in the AM and labs were drawn. Came home called my internist to update the office. Was waiting for a call from the office about pain meds for my knees and then my head started feeling back big time. Meanwhile, my husband called the ambulatory care clinic and we found out that the ct scan results were not read when the doc there tried calling the hospital that AM. She advised me to go to the ER. went to the ER and waiting and waiting. Finally saw ER doc and he found the ct scan and said it was 97% clear of bleed but he wanted to do a spinal tap and I said no way. Let's get all the results back first.Meanwhile M kept telling me to do what the doctor says...ah, NOPE....not if it does not make sense when I don't have all my results back and maybe the answers can be found with less intrusive tests or looking at all the test results done previously. It was too late to get the lab results from the lab co so they wanted me to stay for blood draw and results. It showed a slightly high sed rate. Only 35. I forgot that the sinus films were done during the ct scan but fortunately that showed up and show massive infection. He was an Indian doc and I had trouble understanding him but he kept saying " you have many many headaches " showed me the results. He said he just had his operation on his sinuses after 15 rounds of antibiotics and prednisone since 2003. He placed me on levaquin, prednisone, and Claritin d. Will be using flonase after the prednisone is done. I got 60 mg and he said you will feel better in a few hours and by the time I was leaving the ER after 7, I was feeling no pain in my knees...wish my knees were like this all the time...but the med is for my head(sigh). He said if I had temporal arteritis, the prednisone would take care of that, too. With the high sed rate, he said it could be that, too....but I said couldn't it be high because I have degenerative knees and he agreed. Kidney blood test fine so I can take motrin again when no longer on prednisone.

After the ER, we grabbed something to eat and I could not eat even though I was hungry by then and the nausea went away. Came home and had to go to BR because the antibiotics killed my stomach. But then was up to 7am racing around because of the prednisone. I had to take 1/2 of my seroquel to sleep. Woke up with M waking me up before he went to work at 1030am and I was drenched from the antibiotic. Had some soup and went back to bed around noon and slept til 3:30 and woke up drenched again. I feel much better, still have headache but compared to the way I had been feeling, I feel great; I even wanted to go to the gym but the nurse side of me said...umm NO. You are fighting a major infection and your body needs to fight this and not be stressed with cardio/strength. Maybe I might do a lite work out tomorrow because I am feeling major guilties but then again I am planning on working this weekend and I see the ENT Monday at maybe I should wait until I am checked out again.

I want to thank everyone for their good wishes, hugs and prayers. I have read bits and pieces of OD but have not commented on many because I have not had the ability to sit and write and read for long periods of time. But I am feeling better...VIVA the prednisone and levaquin!!!
