I know exactly what you are going through. When my sister passed a way, I put on 70 lbs over the course of a year and it stayed with me for many years until I was ready to try and change.

The passing of your sister is still so so fresh. Your body may still be holding on to reserves to protect itself.

Perhaps not dieting and going to counseling is the better option in order for you to work through all the raw emotions.

I am so sorry to hear about your sister. It must have been a terrible shock. No one would blame you nor should you blame yourself for gaining the weight back. This is something that has happened to every single one of us. We have all turned to food for comfort.

If you feel you are ready for a change, I agree with others. You should start by going in for a full physical. Gaining 50 pounds over a three month period places a lot of stress on a person's body. You need to find out how that gain effected your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, etc. You may not like what the doctor has to say, but you need to know these numbers. As you lose weight and your health improves, so will those numbers.

You mentioned that you did lose weight on KETO. What did you do ? Was there a particular diet plan you stuck to ? Maybe that's why you did so well. Perhaps it's because you were able to stay on a plan. With the death of your sister, that's thrown everything off course. Well, you can get back on course. Do you have that plan ? What did you do ? And you can ask your doctor for a referral to a good dietitian.

Maybe Keto isn't right for you. if you work with a dietitian they can help you find the right combinations of food that will help you regain your health.

Mostly, it does seem like you've done a lot of stress eating these past three months. But once, don't blame yourself. That was the past. You can't change the past, but you CAN influence and change the future.

Sorry about your loss.

You gained back what you lost, and then some all in 3 months. I have a question. In the last 3 weeks, were you are trying to loose, did you stop gaining? That would mean your changes in eating habits are making a difference already.

I am very sorry to hear of your sad loss. It's never an easy time.

I wonder if there is something else at play re your weight gain, but here are some things to consider.

* Was your sister sick or did she die suddenly? If she had been sick it is possible that some of the weight you lost could have been to do with the stress of your sister, and then after she died you may have started eating again which would have reversed that temporary weight loss. Add on to that that you likely started eating (?considerably) more, that would account for the extra weight gain.

* Have you discussed this with your Dr? It is possible that given the significant amount of weight increase, there could be something medical at play. Things like Hypothyroidism can easily impact on our weight. A simple blood test can rule out some of the more common reasons.

As far as starting again - you have been back on it a short term so it is possible that there are benefits going on that you can't see. It may be that a little more time is needed.

I strongly suggest that if you aren't already, weigh all of your food for increased accuracy and enter it all into the Nutrition Tracker. If need be, your Dr can refer you to a Registered Dietitian. If that is the case, then take some printouts from your Nutrition Tracker with you to your Appointment because this will provide accuracy and enable your Dietitian to better help you.

Good luck, and take care,

You've had a terrible loss. Maybe it's time to step away from Keto for a while and try something else. Even if it's just tracking and maintaining. It may take a bit longer to see results. The important thing is to stick with it and never give up.

Maybe refresh with some new exercises and trying to add some new recipes to your diet. You can do this. It's not easy but you've done it before and you can do it again.

Help, I went on the Keto diet and did pretty well, than my sister passed away and I just kept eating. That was 3 months ago and I have gained what I lost on Keto plus 20lbs. It seems everything I try I cant get the scale to budge. How can I reset my system so that I can start losing by just eating healthy, cutting calories and exercisng. I have been doing all of the above for about 3 weeks and still not losing/
