Sometimes just removing yourself from the people or the situation can help. A walk down the hall to the restroom helps me sometimes when I feel like things are getting shaky. It helps me to walk deliberately, but not quickly. Often then when I get to the bathroom, I just stretch and take deep breaths. Usually that helps me.

CAFEEAST1,
I have a blood pressure meter at home. I have taken my blood pressure, and it was slightly high. I then just did some breathing exercises for two minutes or so. In through the nose, out through the mouth, what we used to do as part of "medication" at the karate club.

Anyways, 2 minutes of that slow deliberate breathing, takes my blood pressure, ... down to normal. Seeing my doctor always stresses me a bit, ... I don't know why, it shouldn't, but that ups my blood pressure of course. So I do a little of this breathing in his office too, to counteract that. I just try to be obvious about it.

Just walking for 10 minutes a day makes a big difference in health, blood pressure, muscles, ..., we are built to move not sit.

I am glad you have some ways to calm your nerves! I love watching my cat and dog interact too. Yes, they actually get along and even sit next to each other.

Studies have shown that having a pet can help a person lower their blood pressure.
It must have been fun to watch your cat play with the deer.

When I'm stressed out, I like taking a walk. Helps to shake out the cobwebs.

Breathing exercises help me and so does being outdoors and marvel at nature. I personally went outside my house and watched 3 deer interact with my cat. It calmed me down immediately.
