SLIMMERKIWI,
I'm a big fan of acupuncture. Its been ages since I've had a treatment, but it has certainly cured a long standing muscle damage that I had. My wife had swallowing problems, and a few treatments cured that.

Food used to get stuck on the way down, the muscles didn't keep squeezing it down the way they should.

Appetite suppressant. I can see that too. In my opinion it is amazing what range of things can be treated.

Good morning, thank you for writing. I do walking as my exercise. Other things would be too hard on my joints. I have pain from Fibro and osteoarthritis. I do stay busy with different things. I can’t stay busy all the time. I am asking God to help me to rest in Him during the day. I am reading more which seems to help. Have a good day.

Hi, Sheila !

What do you do to stay active ? If changing your medication is causing you to become more hungry, then maybe adjusting your fitness routine could help. It isn't so much about burning more calories. It's more about keeping your mind occupied.

As I mentioned in a different post, when I get bored, I'll graze. If I'm busy, I'm not hungry. Perhaps if you tried a new class at the gym, took a dance class, etc... you might be less inclined to munch.

COLOGRAMMY - I'm sure that your Drs would have told you a common side-effect of Xanax is appetite suppressant which is quite likely why you gained the weight after you were weaned off it. I can understand your not wanting to go back on it, and that is totally your choice .....

...... however, have you considered acupuncture to help suppress your hunger and help with weightloss?

I have had acupuncture for Benign Essential Tremors and had marvelous success with it. I'm not able to take medication for it because of a health issue, and the only other thing available WAS Acupuncture. I was virtually free of all tremors for about 10 years, and it is only now that it has been coming back. I will be going back to the Dr who did it when I need to. The beauty of it was that if I had gunky throat as a result of asthma, or severe pain in my hip and back, or a stinking headache, or nausea, he would pop needles in for them, too, and they worked a treat. I had never considered this form of treatment before. The needles are very VERY fine and I never felt them going in and after they were taken out, I couldn't see where they had been. I found the sessions very relaxing, and in fact, was often on the verge of falling asleep when he or his nurse came in to remove the needles LOL!

Hi, thank you so much for your encouraging words. All of what you said is helpful. The drs and I both think it is because of coming off that medicine. I am going to talk to God and ask a Him what is His way out of this. He knows what is best. Thank you again and yes 100 lbs is a big thing and I am holding on to that. God bless you emoticon

COLOGRAMMY,

Don't beat yourself up because you regained some weight. That is something that has happened to us all. Try to think more positively. While you may have regained some weight, you have still kept 100+ pounds off. That says you are doing something right.

One thing you could do is check the medications you've been prescribed. Many prescriptions can cause people to become ravenous. You mentioned that you were on xanax for 40 years. perhaps the change in medication could be the cause.

I do agree with Kris. talking with your doctor to see if adjusting your medication, could be helpful.

as far as what to do about curbing your hunger ? are you drinking enough water or fluids ? Some times hunger isn't really hunger, but thirst. if you're not getting enough water, that would cause you to become ravenous.

And well, if you are hungry, then you need to eat healthy foods that are filling. Try to keep the junk out of the house. out of sight. out of mind. Have a big leafy green salad. have a big bowl of fruit. Fruit is high in fiber. perhaps if you ate more high fiber foods, that could help.

Mostly, you shouldn't beat yourself up because you regained a little weight. give yourself more credit for keeping most of it off.

Hi Kris, thank you for writing to me and for your good ideas. I have talked to a number of drs. Trying out the things they are suggesting. I believe that the whole thing is starting because of the anxiety I have. I was on Xanax for 40 years🤪I started weaning off of it last November 1. Have been totally off of it since 9-7-19. Thank You Lord. It is pretty tough to get off of a Benzo and there are side effects from it. Like my Fibro pain is worse, insomnia can be really bad, more anxiety which I want to put out the thoughts in my mind with food. One dr. suggested that I go back on the medicine😢No, I don’t want to. I m praying that God will help me with His plan. I am having a sleep study next week too. Anyway, appreciate you reaching out to me. I like to hear what you have to say. Oh, I have favor to ask you. Could you please tell the upper SP team that I keep getting an ad with an egg ad on it. It comes up every other thing I do? It is getting on my nerves. Thank you. I did write the helps desk about this. Thank you. Have a blessed day. Sheila

I would be inclined to talk with your Dr about what is going on, and take it from there.

You MUST include in that conversation your pain and insomnia. If you get them under control then it is possible that it may prevent a further increase in your weight. He/she might also review any medications you are on. I would also ask for a referral to a Registered Dietitian to help you devise a healthy eating plan which leaves you well satiated.

Good luck,
Kris

I have been on SP fir many years. I love the program. Between Jan 2016 and December 31, 2018 I had lost 117 lbs . emoticon The way I lost it was by having gall bladder issues in 2016 and breast cancer in 2017. 2018 was a time of recovering and this year I have been working on maintaining the weight lost. It has been extremely difficult doing this. I am dealing with a lot of pain and insomnia at this time. My issue is is that I am hungry all the time. I seem to think of food all the time. I have gained back 18 lbs since last year at this time. Not good. Not sure what to do. I am scared of gaining some of the weight back. Can anyone help me out there? I am still tracking my food and exercise. Thank you.
