Yesterday, for Canada Day, DH was determined to eat at a restaurant. I had fish fillet, breaded with pilaf rice, so no fries, no dessert. I only had a bagel for breakfast. I still put on a half a pound. I'm disappointed. Today, I'll work out more than my 40 minutes. I'll eat very lean to get back where I was. I want to reach my goal because it's doable and reasonable. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

The first 6 months of the year today. I only lost 11.8 lbs. I know I can do better.

Tomorrow is July 1rst. I want to lose 1.1 pound a week, 4.4 a month

My step to achieve my goal are:
1. log-in SP daily
2. track food daily
3. not be over calorie range
4. exercise 40 minutes a day
5. drink 8 ox hourly x8 daily

Weigh-in on Tuesdays and the last day of the month.
emoticon Let's do this! GO!!!

This morning I was up to 211.0. emoticon

Last celebration until September 2nd unless we make it to see the oldest boy coming down home in July - we'd go visit him, wife and 2 grand-kids.

So I'm now moving forward as of today. I exercised 30 minutes. I drank 40 oz of water. I ate below my calorie range but ate 3 meals. I also slept my 8 hours

208.5 this morning. Ate last celebration lunch until Father's Day.

Tomorrow morning may not see a lost but then to Father's Day should. Why do we always celebrate with food?! I really don't know where the tradition comes from?! How else can we celebrate? Lot's of questions to which I'd like answers.

We applied at a place today where we both feel we can stay there for a long term/permanently. We're on a waiting list so we'll continue to stay here till then. It's a side by side condo and they even have a garden - each a row. So I might have room for a few tomato plants and some cucumbers to make my pickles.

So today I had all kinds of energy. Swept and moped the floors, moved the furniture around, bought some flowers and a vase to add lively colors, cleaned the bathroom too, moved furniture around in bedroom, did a load of wash and now ready for bed. Happy camper again emoticon

MOMPOIRIER: thank you for your support. True that blogs and stories have a lot of lessons to be learned. Spending way less time on computer this week and even reading. Staying busy!

Sorry to hear that you've been under so much stress. Sounds like you've come to a decision.

The ideas I gave you are all from Spark articles that I have read. They are a wealth of good info. I try to read some each day.

I like that idea a lot and thank you for suggesting it. It would change the focus. This week, I will not weigh-in until Saturday.

We had a lot of stress this week and we didn't handle it well. We bought so much sweets and after not having eaten that much of it in a long time, it gave me a headache and was feeling wacky.

The past week was hard for both of us and it involved a lot of travelling. Today after a week of depression we finally made a healthy decision for us. We are not moving away. The stress fell and now looking forward to taking up my activities again. We now know that moving back home would make others happy but we wouldn't be happy living away from where we now live. It was an emotional turmoil, to say the least.

Have you considered making your goals non- scale goals. Such as - exercise 30 min. a day, 5 days a week. Then when you make that goal start another one, maybe I will eat within my calorie range everyday, at least 5 times a week. I have started making my goals more health oriented instead of just weight oriented. I have found this to be helpful to me on my healthy life style journey.

1) exercise 30 minutes or more a day
2) be mindful of what I eat - not be over calorie range.
3) drink at least 30 ounces a day.
I should be moving more around the house....

I didn't reach my weekly goal last week. I now only have 22 days to reach my monthly goal. This is still doable but harder to do. Must be digilent!

On Monday I was at 216. Today I'm at 214.5 so still hopeful to reach my goal of 210 by the end of the month. Today I started a new challenge. The sweet Tooth one. And today I'm also mindful of hidden sugar. I know I have a problem with sugar. It's like a need - I crave it. I'm not alone in this battle so I need to find out how they cope with the cravings. I love cookies, I absolutely love chocolate. There isn't a sweet that I can think of, that I hate?! So I'm going to work on moderation. I read an article on it. So it's not as bad as cutting of completely. I have tried that already and had the worst headache. This week is a week of moderation, allowing one small piece or half cup of can fruit, ice cream or no fat yogurt a day. Starting today.

OK so this is going backward! This morning I shared my goal with DH so he can support me and not make any meals. His Mom always made heap full of food in case someone would drop in. He does the same. So we don't have company and there's all this food that I was trained to think of those who had nothing to eat so we never threw food away. I became a human garbage can. Now we both have to work on this as it sabotages my efforts to lose. emoticon

Weighed-in and was not only depressed about being confined at home, but sore knees that makes exercising difficult - push myself to do some daily, and but I also had an increase in weight. Not to mention than DH although he doesn't say it, is depressed from being confined and not being able to go bowling with his friends ( he did 6 times a week and misses it ) For me I ran out of yarn and going into withdrawals emoticon

Today was my 1rst weigh-in recording to lose 15 lbs from now to June 27th. Took my weight this morning. Easter is behind us now and I'm moving forward. I'm so looking forward to my success in this challenge.

My plan is to write the steps either at night for the next day or in the morning before eating. I'll plan my exercise, my meal plan for the day and enter in the tracker so I know I'm not over my calorie range, write other household activity so I'm I keep active.

I now have a pound lost on my next goal of 20 lbs loss....
I now enter my menu in the nutrition section for the day in the morning, before eating anything except drinking water. I find this helps me to stay within my calories and alleviate any stress of meal planning in the day.

Last year, between April 14 and June 28, I lost 15 lbs. So if I did it then I can do it again! This as become my new goal. It will get me closer to my 20 lbs goal emoticon Go Go Go. I love my journal emoticon One pound at the time!

We have to watch mass, a full service of 1 hour, on TV for the last 2 Sundays. It's televised from Quebec, a French channel. This way we can still worship our Lord without being exposed to Covid-19.

You are doing really well with your exercises and nutrition.

Today I will again do my exercise inside, a video and stationary bike.
I will eat healthy and watch my portions.
Drink at least 64 ounces.

The scale went down. I know it's due to having taken a Lasix yesterday and now my next one is in 3 days so none today or the day after. During that time I have a lot of water retention which causes the scale to go up again. My rings which I nearly had resized are now tight t the point that I can't take them off! As for my watch, I had to add another link as I couldn't close the clasp any more. At least I know why and will keep doing all I can to lose despite all this. I will be under 200 pounds; that is my goal! emoticon

It always helps when you can prepare your own meals.

I had a good day yesterday. On track with my eating and exercise. No bingeing.

You still have mass? We are without for 3 weeks because of the COVID 19. We miss it so much.

Today same as yesterday: I control the kitchen and what I eat. Some exercise too is in the to-do-list after mass. emoticon emoticon It's emoticon out so may as well enjoy theweather. Not as windy as yesterday.

OMG the scale is against me again! So today, I must find a new plan like for one is to not allow my DH to cook emoticon . He has no sense of portions and calories. emoticon emoticon emoticon . I must also keep my hands of the cookie jar... emoticon .

Yesterday I worked up to a sweat and for 40 minutes. Thought I was good but it takes a lot of evercise to wear down calories. Need to do both. emoticon

Health issues had an impact on y weight and the doctor said it's not a choice. Lasix will be going off gradually. Stated to every second day and already I can see swelling in the face and feet. As for the new heart pill, I supposedly have a weight increase. So I'm facing a few more challenges that I have no control over.

My plan is to see the results set in but keep eating, healthy or even healthier, and can't wait to get in to my fitness plan again sooner than later, hopefully! Drink my 64 oz a day too.

So far, I found that I eat better and feel no hunger but I don't meet my lowest calorie intake required for the day even with a snack.... I eat more fruits, veggies and meat twice a day. I drink more water too: today, 88 ounces. I also exercise more and do more strength and walking. Overall, it's easy healthy and hope to see results in a week emoticon

Making good choices in the moment requires three skills:

1. the ability to recognize your innate hunger and satiety signals;
2. the ability to distinguish between hunger, appetite (preferences, habits, tastes), and impulse;
3. the ability to stay grounded in your self and your goals so that it is you making the decisions—not hunger, appetite, impulses, or your diet rules.

Step 1: Organize Your Eating
Using the low end of your calorie range, divide those calories into a good breakfast, a moderate lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, a good dinner,

Step 2: Stick to This Plan—No Matter What
No extra eating, no skipped meals, no excuses.

Step 3: Keep an Accurate, Detailed Food Journal
Note how you feel before and after each meal, including physical sensations (especially the hunger and satiety level)

Step 4: Draw Your Conclusions
If you spent a lot of time feeling the physical sensations of hunger, it’s safe to assume you weren’t getting enough food. If your desire to eat outside of your plan was due to anxiety, emotional discomfort, resentment or boredom, you can use your journal to identify the situations, thoughts, and feelings that triggered the urge to eat and find ways to manage them without turning to food.

Took my weight this morning and will do the above for a week so my next weigh-in will be on March 7. I'm keeping track in my "HEALTH IS A MUST" journal

Went to the Dr. today and since I'm seeing the cardiologist on Friday, she didn't want to change anything with my medications until I meet with him. Told her that I'm tired and that I would now agree to have a pace maker and difribullator. One of my med drops my BP and without it, I swell right up.... So my family doctor doesn't know what to do anymore.... I was at the hospital 5 times in the space of 30 days. Hard and rough month

Oh my Valentine! He took me out to supper at a place we used to go and eat crab - surf and turf. This put me back on my goal big time. now I'll have to lose again the gained pounds that my enemy the scale told me I gained. I just couldn't stop eating - LOVE crab. And strawberry cheese cake for dessert? All I can say it was good but now paying the price

Reset! Go!

One of the Spark articles talked about looking at your weight loss journey as a work or college project. I find it to be true for me and it helps me to look at it that way.

Congrats on making your list yesterday. Looks like you are improving on your water intake too. Be careful of the small laps - I think that's how I hurt my ankle - by doing small, repetitive laps quickly.

Ankle is doing somewhat better today. Only woke with pain once last night.

DIA is 44 this morning: not good.

Yesterday I made my to-do list. Every day I'll keep increasing my daily walk by one lap. It's not a large area so it looks worse than it is. I do this 3 times a day. emoticon

I'm increasing my water intake too. 48 oz is the least I'll drink! emoticon

I'm going to cut down on sugar again. Looking back at my nutritional reports, I see it slowly kept coming back... A treat once a week and only a piece. emoticon

Must be mindful of salt this week. I have days where I consume to much sodium...

I love the nutritional report. So much information there. emoticon

Spend the day in Cardiac trauma unit yesterday. BUT my heart feels so good today - teeming is what it needed. Hope it stays for a while. Felt like by body was chocking my heart before and now I don't feel that - nice but strange -lol.

I changed my ticker today to reflect weight lost since October 11, 2019, when I seriously decided to take care of my health and losing weight was part of that decision. Want to see how much I'll lose in a year....

Will try to ease in cardio tomorrow. 5-10 minutes to start.... Baby steps= Big results. emoticon

I love to read SP stories. I learn from them.

Today, I read about how fast one can lose 10 pounds. Well, I want to know how much I can lose in a month starting by this month.

Now I want to do this the healthy way. Eat healthy for sure. No starvation. No diet. Exercise is somewhat near off limit as far as cardio for a bit. Spent the day in the hospital again for my heart... Dr. lowered my medication today. A decrease which sounds good. Just hope it works out.

I have 5.1 lbs to lose as a goal for February. I know it doesn't seem like much so if I go for 10 pounds I'll get a reward. Always looking forward to the reward part - lol.

I've been following your stories since the original post. You both are an inspiration! I hope the ankle surgery goes well and that you have a speedy recovery.

And what a scary experience you've been through. Do rest and give your body a chance to heal.

Thanks for the prayers and hugs. Not sure what I did to my ankle but I have partial tears in the Ligaments on both sides of my left ankle, plus bone cysts. I will be having arthroscopic surgery so recovery shouldn't be too bad.

My heart wasn't doing well and pulse either - up to 147. Although I've seen worse it was nearly 3x it's regular speed. Then I paralyzed. I'm still not feeling good and find it long to recuperate. Thank you for the prayers and kind words.

What is wrong with your ankle? That's no fun to have surgery. Just be kind to yourself and do what you have to, to be in full speed again Hugs and prayers

MOMTOLJ - How scary for you, and DH. Take it easy and don't push yourself. Do they know what happened? Best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.

I'll be put of commission for awhile at the end of the week. I am having out-patient ankle surgery. I'll be in a cast for a week so I won't be weighing in until it comes off. I plan to weigh in and take my monthly measurements the day before surgery.

Who would have thought I would be in a trauma unit 3 hours later. This was scary. emoticon Lost all function. couldn't open my eyes, talk, move arms legs; NOTHING MOVED. It all started with my heart going at a very fast pace. DH took me in on time. By three p.m. I finally could talk and move but it left me very weak. I'm now recuperating at home. Waiting for cardiologist to call me for an appointment. Monday I'll call family doctor for follow-up appointment.

Strange: I could hear but couldn't respond. One nurse said that I was whiter than the sheet another said we should code her emoticon - not good! Just wanted to scream I'm here!!! Happy to be home emoticon

Today I had an increase in weight. I suppose I had it coming. If this keeps up, I will not reach my goal for this month.
Therefor, this morning, I revisited my goals for the month. Some I met every day but obviously lacked to meet some crucial steps to achieve my goal
I'm now back on track and expect to reverse the outcome attained so far.

This month is so much harder than I anticipated. Two celebration already. n I didn't even start the baking bit yet.... Keeping it for the end....

My goal is not to be an once over what I weighed on November 30th by December 31rst. So far so good but the weight is not pouring off either....

I'm up to 44 oz of water and mostly drink 48 and I keep doing my exercises as usual. So the portion size seems to be the problem and then again. to much variety - carrots. turnips mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey. cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, tea, 2 oz of wine, dinner roll with butter and dessert- all prepared and brought to the table to us. I don't eat half of that in a day!!! and now it's in a one meal setting!

Enough ranting! emoticon

Congrats on the loss and how well your doing with your goal of drinking more water. Put the cookie jar where it is not easily accessible. I sometimes will put my cookies in the freezer (if I have any) where they must thaw first, giving me time to change my mind.

A week in. Never did so poorly - my hand kept going in the cookie jar emoticon . What are tomorrows for but to pick myself up again... I didn't add any sugar to anything I ate though and the cookies were 55 calories each but 2 is still 110 emoticon

None the less, I had a loss of 1.9 lbs this week.

This coming week, I'll be up by 4 oz with my water drinking. - 44 oz a day....

I did it across the line! even drank 56 oz of water yesterday!

Tomorrow is December 1rst. The beginning of a new month. So today I spent time to do my chart for the month in my binder. All small steps. Tomorrow, I up my water to 40 oz daily for a week. I won't eat sweets nut once a week and may go without . I will do 1000 minutes of exercise in the month. A bunch of little steps that will help me not want to blow it up during the holidays...

Yesterday was my 3-day end of the month challenge. Sugar free, exercise and not go over 1500 but preferably 1200 cal a day. Also to drink my water daily. Two days down and doing great so far.

STEPH6377 You're plan looks good to me! I do track my exercise in the tracker on Spark. I want to reach 1000 minutes this month....
Do you miss the sweet? I know that piece a day is not good for me but find it hard to cut sweet completely....
I'm adding 4 oz of water a week to reach the 64 mark. I'm now at 36. That too I found hard to do; I'm a tea lover so cut down on my tea to drink more water. Although it is a better choice I miss my tea.

I too am trying to make small changes hoping for bigger results. I recently went to the doctor and my cholesterol was a little high. She suggest that I cut back on my carbs. I have been trying to do that. As well I am going to try to start exercising a couple of times a week and plan to add my exercise as I go. I am also eating a lot more fruits and veggies than I did in the past.

Today is my first day of cutting back on my med. I returned to Lasix yesterday. Hope this works. The swelling is still bad.

Sticking to food plan. Losing again what I had gained so if I can lose the water, I'll melt away emoticon

MOMPOIRIER: My dear SP friend. You were right to tell me to keep eating healthy and the scale would eventually show a loss. I didn't give up and in the last 2 days I've seen a loss of 2 lbs. Plus the Lasix should eliminate some water retention. I sent you a PM. emoticon

MOMTOLJ: I am inspired by your perseverance. I'm sorry you weren't able to make your trip but happy that you will see your sister at Christmas. Let me know how things go at the doc's tomorrow. Sunday is my day of rest from exercise, tomorrow I will be back at it.

MOMPOIRIER: The thing is we're back on track. WooHoo! Let's emoticon forward

Well I didn't make it to my sister's birthday: not well enough to travel. DH and I were worried I'd be sick on the road far from hospitals and not make it on time. I so wish I could be with them but they will be over for Christmas. It's been 49 years since we last spent Christmas together. My niece rented a house for them so it won't be hard on me. I'm not doing very good lately: sleep in day time and DH is doing most of the chores.

I'll be seeing my doctor tomorrow and so looking forward to it. A good thing I'm being monitored! emoticon Also waiting for some tests to be done soon - well before Christmas and seeing the specialist afterward.

I Started to do some strength exercises again this morning and did some stationary bike at low speed for 8 minutes so 31 minutes in I also track my meals and check the report after each meal... emoticon

I too had a bit of a mess up at the Christmas Tea I attended. Ate what I was given and had 3 cookies, a brownie and 3 chocolate squares. Definitely not on my 21 Day sugar challenge. I gained some but am back down again today. It's important to get back up right away and put the past, in the past.

Hope your doc okays seeing your sisters. I know how important that relationship is.

Today I really messed up; I had half of DH's poutine and cake with ice cream. I don't even want to get weighed in the morning...... probably won't be able to stay away from it either....

My sister came to visit and our trip was suppose to be beginning on Wednesday. I can't decide if I'll be going. With my mini-strokes I know Dh is scared and not comfortable with me going and I had a biggy on the 7th. But then again so wish to be all 3 sisters together! I mean she lives 800 miles away and it's been 2 years since we've been together. I'll try to reach my doctor Tuesday and see what she thinks

Don't hesitate to call the Dr. earlier if you need too. That water weight can be depressing but keep with your plan. You'll be okay.

Nov. 4, 2019, Dr. apt. Off Lasix. 217 lbs
Nov. 6, 2019. 220.5 lbs.... a 3.5 increase
Nov 18, 2019. Dr. follow-up
Meanwhile I'll continue to eat healthy and stay within my calorie range and exercise. Kind of depressing but at least I know the reason why.
