Doing the 21day new member challenge and repeating often has helped too.

I'd say it was tracking what I ate at every meal; that kept me accountable and helped me stay within my daily caloric range.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

What helped me the most was keeping it simple.

Don't in my opinion join to many teams. I keep to two teams only but i'd go with a maximum of 3 or even just keep to one. If you join a team and no longer find it useful leave the team rather than just no longer be active in it.

It's good to be fully active in your teams and if you join to many it's too time consuming for a start and also then you can't be active all the time in them.

Customise your page fully. As well as teams keep your friends to an amount where you can fully be a good spark friend to them. e.g. replying to their feed, commenting on their blogs etc... To many and you could easily spend all day just doing that.

I love trying to streak so setting up goals also can be great maybe just pick three to start to concentrate on and set up spark streaks to go with them.

I find tracking food for me too time consuming and not sustainable long term but periodically it can be good to do for a couple of days and run the report at the end of the day just to see how you are going with getting all your nutrients etc...

I follow the No S diet (there's a team for that on here) and with this diet you loose weight without needing to track food.

That's a few thoughts I have you could start with.

as MTEREZA said don't judge yourself just start where you are. We are all on our own individual journey's but all here to help and encourage each other.

One thing that helped me was to track everything I ate, even if it was 2000 calories over the suggested daily limit. Do that every day. When I saw how much I was eating, and bingeing, it helped me want to begin to cut down. At first I just tracked every day and in a short amount of time, began to cut down to get to the daily levels recommended for me.

Don't judge yourself; see it as gathering data. You are not alone.

God, give me mental toughness at the point of attack.

Welcome! I would recommend starting out with just 1-2 goals to work on and then add on to those as you get going and find them more as a habit (wait at least a couple weeks before adding more). I like picking out 1-2 of the suggestions in this article for people starting out or needing to get back on track with their healthy habits: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_ar

What helped you the most when you were starting out?

I've tried a few different dieting roads, but the motivation to get started is the most difficult bit. I'm trying the premium free trial for an extra push, so we'll see how that goes!
