Drinking ice water has made drinking water much more enjoyable for me. I'm going to try lemon and cucumber water soon!

I try to take in 64 oz. of water a day and then any other drinks I have are either coffee, tea, or milk. Sometimes it makes me feel bloated, by I've been trying to exercise more to make it easier. I always find it harder in the cold months.

NOPE ... not even a tiny bubble.

I guess people who drink a fair bit of fizzy stuff would be drinking air but I don't drink much of it.

So, it’s a quick gulp, not a sip?

That’s less air, less troubles.

INTOTHENEW - yes, air can cause troubles, but if you are swallowing properly, there won't be troubles. I sip, but don't take air down, which is more from a quick gulp than sip.

I can swallow a pint of water under many circumstances.

One, first thing in the morning.

Two, after heavy excursion.

Three, when I know I’m not hungry.

Drink without sipping, the air from sipping does cause troubles. Drink water, not air.

Also, I would imagine you would have had bloods to see where you are at re Potassium levels?? Low levels can also affect how our heart works.

@BEVGIEDD1 if you find drinking water difficult, there is no reason at all why you can't drink other drinks. I don't drink much plain water but
a) I'm not that keen on it, and
b) it often gives me indigestion if I have much.
I drink about 1 cup of plain water a day total in the summer and in the winter 1/2 cup, UNLESS I am in the car in which case I will sip on it, and probably double my intake. However, most of my drinks are tea or a coffee substitute. In the summer I will also have iced fruit tea with a dash of sweetened (stevia) soda in it, but that is only about a cup full.
A way to help overcome how you feel is to sip (which is mostly what I do) rather than drink a full serve down.

Jelly and ice-cream can also be counted as fluid, however they also have calories attached, which water doesn't. Milk is another good source of fluid, and helps with protein, calcium, etc.

Maybe you might be able to increase your fluid intake by eating more tomatoes, cucumber, orange, etc. which has a high water content. This is where a large portion of my fluids come from.

Sorry if im out of order but im getting use to the site. I am still new to drinking water. I believed i drank coffee that had water and tea had water both as main ingredients. Now im training myself to cut back to 2 cups of coffee now black and try to start drinking water. I feel like my body is resisting the urge to drink it. Like today i only got 1/4 of a bottle down now the other day i drank 4. I feel real bloated after wards. Is there a way to make drinking water easier? Is it ok if i cant get a full bottle down? My nutritionist is trying to get me to drink 4 bottles a day. Working slowly. Now i must be honest i have never liked water so i didnt drink it. Yes i have found myself in the ER from dehydration and repeated the cycle. My nutritionist is wanting to see first hand if my heart will stop acting up by me drinking water. Bottom line How can i make it easier to drink it and not feel blah? Thank you sorry so long

While those are obviously not water, they DO could towards your fluids for the day.

I count any fluids I drink as "fluids"

Out of interest and after a discussion with my sister who claims I don't drink enough, I checked out the fluid content of SOME of the many fresh fruit/veggies that I eat in a day. I have always known that they contain a lot of fluid but hadn't realized just how much - 750mls .... 3 cups!!!! That didn't take into account my evening meal which is mostly some form of meat/veggie casseroled, plus a load of other veggies. So whereas officially I drink 5 cups of fluid in a day, I actually consume 9+ a day.

I let the colour of my urine and thirst dictate my actual drinks. If it is clear you can generally afford to cut back. If it is dark and/or has a smell, drink more. Ideally it should be a very pale straw colour, which mine is.

I wouldn't count it as water.. but we really should count fluids, and try to drink as much water in the fluid we drink as possible.

If you have soup broth, coffee, and 64 ozs. of water.. you had more fluids than water, but you may have had enough fluids to be hydrated. If you have 2 cups of coffee, and 8 cups of water.. you had 10 cups of fluid, which may be enough. Caffeine can cause a diuretic effect, so you will have to pay attention to how you feel.. same as salt in broth, which may make you more thirsty.

I try for 10-12 cups of straight water, which makes it easy, but if I drank 2-3 cups of coffee, I would drop to 10, maybe less of water, to compensate. Overall fluid intake is more important than water, although 8 cups of water is never a bad base.. the other fluids count too.
