Hello I'm Melissa I had lost 101 lbs and hit a low point in life and gained 50 lbs back. I started my journey to lose it again in Dec and in 14 weeks I've lost 28.8 lbs (as of weigh in last week) I'm on a mission and have a huge vacation coming up at the end of May I'm hoping to lose another 10 lbs by then emoticon

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.

Welcome, Acrofit and Kerlee66. I have binge issues, too. In the warm weather I do better; my appetite decreases and I do a lot of suger-free popsicles, pickles, and salads. But until then, it's carb city!!

Hi everyone,
I'm new to Sparkpeople, so still trying to figure it out. I lost some weight back in 2009 and then gained it all back and then some (Yikes!) becuase of my binging habits. Anyway, I am hoping that some accountability and motivation will help!

I lost weight this fall, 18 lbs., took a holiday break and maintained, gained some back in January, then lost 6 more last month. I am trying to meet my goal of 148 by June 24th. which is 22 more lbs. or 2 pounds per week by vacation. I will decide at that time if I want to lose another 10 lbs. depending on how I feel and my inches lost. I am striving for a healthy BMI and eventually maintaining my weight! I have SERIOUS issues with late night binging! I am great all day, then tend to blow it at night. Help!

Hello all just had my 40th birthday and realized I put my fitness goals on the back burner. Time to get re-energized and get back into my recently purchased clothes that don't fit so great anymore. Determined to lose at least 20 pounds in a safe and healthy manner. My desk job doesn't help. I am here to offer and receive encouragement as we reach our goals together.

Hi I'm 45 and want to loose at least 10lbs but 15 would be better. Had a fasting Glucose test that was over 100 and it "sparked" me to do something about it. Tracking foods showed I was eating mostly carbs! What an eye opener. So now I'm working out and eating more proteins and fats with less carbs. I work as a software engineer so I sit most of my day at a computer which contributes to the problem also. Looking forward to using this site!!

Hi! I'm 42 and trying to lose the last 20 pounds. I'm a special ed teacher, (behavior kids) so my job can be pretty stressful. Tracking my food has been a real eye opener. I didn't think I ate that much, but I'm eating the wrong things, because my calorie count was a little, okay a lot over. I'm excited because I recently joined a gym with my daughter and I'm enjoying myself. I know with support everyone will do well!

Hello! I am new to the SparkTeam. I am looking forward to losing 20 pounds. I also need accountability. I have four kids which keeps me busy. Sporting events and running from activities gives opportunity for fast food! Too much eating out! I also have a husband in two rock bands! BUSY. I need support!

Hi there...I've had good solid success with Sparkpeople since August 2012. I've lost 15 pounds to date. I joined this team a while ago, but haven't really been active. I'm looking for some extra accountability for April....my goals: to lose an additional 4 pounds this month, eat no more than 1,300 calories each days, and increase my fitness challenge to 30 minutes daily! Today I started with Jillian Michaels!

Welcome to the team! Not having time to work out is something that takes some rearranging; squeeze out 20 minutes twice a day and you're on your way.

I have been popping in and out of Spark People for the last 6 years. The first couple of years I did awesome! But as the needs of my oldest son 12yo started coming to the forefront and then I had my second child (now 5yo), I have had the hardest time convincing myself that I need to put me first in order to be the best for them. I am sure you can see from what I write, that I KNOW what is right, and best, but internally it isn't connecting anymore. I have a HUGE background in health; massage therapist, personal trainer, background in how nutrition affects health and behavior. I am restarting again (I am not a complete failure, just a slow go right now). I have been watching videos about how to change food cravings without feeling deprived (adding to versus eliminating with the goal to eventually squeeze out). I hae been working on paying attention to what my body is really saying, usually drinking water before I decide I am really hungry. But my biggest challenge is that I wont find time to exercise. I have MORE than 15 pounds to lose, but I figured 15 pounds is a good goal that wont make me feel too far from the finish. Hoping I can find time to use Spark and be support to others as others support me.

Hi, I'm Kim! I just turned 46 this month. My goal is to lose around 15 lbs, but more interested in toning up and getting fit. I have a good friend with whom I do cross training with and that has been so motivational. It's wonderful to have a workout buddy. Last summer I lost 13" (and only 3 lbs!) doing our workouts. That is why I focus more on the way my clothes fit and how I feel, than what my scale says. Right now I am concerned with losing muscle tone and possible weight gain due to having to have hernia surgery ( the old fashioned way with incision and stitches) 3 days ago. I cannot workout for 4 weeks unless the Dr. releases me early.:( I plan to keep moving and walking as much as possible - just no lifting! Lol. I am so thankful for having exercised and being somewhat fit up to this point, because I think it will help immensely with getting back on my feet and healing quicker! I figure this down time will also motivate me to clean up my diet!

Hi, I am Robyn, 43 and want to lose 10 pounds (I have lost 5 since the beginning on March by tracking my food every day, eating clean and exercise). I am 160 right now, my goal is 150. I am loving the trackers; I really try to pre-plan my food for the day and plug it in first thing in the morning. I have kept to 1500 - 1800 except for one day, so I think I am doing pretty good.

Look forward to being a part of this group

Hi, I am new here---obviously. I am 42 and my weight has been an up and down thing for the last year or so. I hadn't weighed myself in months and when I did I noticed I was at a 165lbs, 15lbs over my normal 150lbs! What made me do so, was the fact that i put on a pair of my regular pants and I couldn't fasten them. I don't eat much, but I normally eat after 7, pretty much every night, due to getting home after 6pm.

I am here looking for encouragement and whatever I can get. Mostly, I need the motivation to exercise more. I walk about the same amount everyday, but I know I need to walk more and do more. Once I get home, I am too tired to do anything.

Oh well, I could go on and on, but I will stop for now.

Hello everyone. I've been with SparkPeople since September but I've only been 40 for a few days. I've been trying to lose 17 pounds and it's not going so well. I lost 4, gained 2, lost 8, gained 4, etc. So, here I am 6 months after starting this journey and I've lost only 4 pounds total.
Yesterday I got back on track again, and I'm feeling good. I exercised this morning, the sun is shining, and I'm ready for the long haul. No getting off-track for me!

TIMETOSHINE43 - That's one of the reasons I invested in a heart rate monitor; I wanted a more accurate accounting of the calories I was burning. Otherwise all you can do is estimate based on a similar exercise.

Hi, new to this team. So far so good logging and tracking workouts, but the workouts I am finding doesn't have as much pull down choices. If I create a custom, how do I know how many cals that are being burned? I feel it is making me not want to track the excercise and that to me is so important. I did back and legs today. There was maybe 1 back excercise that I might have been able to tag, for back I do pulldowns, the row boat and free weights. So, for legs there were a lot to choose from, which I was excited about. I want to make sure to list all my accomplishments.

Good morning! I have been back on SparkPeople for a couple of weeks, I just don't always get time to explore the pages. We redid our living room this winter which took 2 months to finish, That is our workout space, so over the winter I put on some more weight. According to the charts I am obese although no one believes me when I (at 5' 2") tell them I weigh 179lbs. I am down to 174lbs in just a couple of weeks, but still have so much to do. I want to feel comfortable in my summer clothe without buying new. Right now I feel like my life is consumed with working out enough, eating properly and not giving in to cravings. Sparkpeople helps because there are so many other people out there with similar issues.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Each day is new!

Welcome to the team!
PIVEY0317 - with your schedule, you need to break up your fitness into smalll doses for now - on one of those breaks, do ten pushups (wall pushups are fine) or ten squats, etc. That way you'll be building your strength. Then try for longer sets of cardio when you can squeeze it in. Every little bit helps!

Hi I am new to this group. I'm 44 year old mother of 2. I am finding it hard on some days to get on and log my foods. Looked into the mobile app and wasn't too impressed with reviews. I am trying to at least log in to track food and fitness. I am currently in nursing school but on my Spring break. My life has gone from active to sedentary. I have to force myself to sit for hours and study. I do try and set a timer and get up to move or do a chore every 50 minutes to break it up.
My biggest challenge is finding time to workout while in school. I have started trying to go up 4 flights of stairs on the days I have lecture but the rest of the week feels like I'm chained to a desk with 1000 books in front of me. Looking forward to trying to lose.
Last time I lost was on a carb free diet and lost 15 pounds. I don't feel like that is the healthiest option so now I really try and limit to whole wheat and whole grains. I am already seeing results so I hope I can stick with it.

Hi All, I am new here. I am 48, children grown and just became a Grandma. I gained 15 punds after a very stressful year and just can't seem to lose it. I was a spark member years ago, so I thought I would come back to it. Been working out (really working, not just going through the motions) Since early Feb. Even hired a personal trainer...in 7 weeks I have only lost 3 pounds. That is a good thing I know but I am so very frustrated. My husband tells me I stress over it too much (he has lost 20 pounds in that same amount of time). I am not willing to give up...just frustrated...sigh

Also have a terrible time trying to get in enough protein. Any suggestions?

I CAN do this

Welcome to the team, and hang in there!! I recently got back into working out again, too, and gained also - BUT I lost two inches off my waist and one off my hips, even though I gained three pounds somewhere in the process. So the loss of inches is helping to keep me moving; hopefully things will even out soon, and even if they don't, I'll still be healthier.

As I scroll through a bunch of the comments I realize I'm not the only one who had been a member in the past.

I joined under a different name in 06 and lost about 50lbs. I created a new page in 08 to lose a few pounds and maintain and I didn't want to ever forget how far I had come.

I have recently turned 40, moved to a new state, got married and became a step mom to a wonderful little boy. I have time to workout, more then ever, but find myself unmotivated. In January I began working out 5 days a week for at least 30min sometimes up to 90 mins, in 4 weeks I gained 3 lbs. At that point I gave up.

I can't/won't let the weight beat me. I'm just looking for some support. I know my husband loves me but I want to be the best I can for him and myself. I miss my skinny jeans!!

Hi all. I love this website!!! I started yesterday. Today I tracked all of yesterday's food and exercise.

I have 10 - 15 lbs to lose. It's harder after age 40. I'm a Weight Watchers Lifetime Member but gained some weight so I have to pay at meetings. I had stopped going and didn't have any accountability or support. Now I have this website!

My motivation is to make my joints feel better, to have more energy, to not end up in tough shape like my parents and my husband's parents. Three have heart disease, all four have arthritis. I want to fight aging so I have a more graceful aging process. I am 47.

My biggest temptation is sweets and caloric foods that are free and easy to access at my work. That is what caused me to gain weight. I have a hard time with those temptations. emoticon

I agree with Dawn. We have to make time for ourselves, put this as a top priority. And I think we can all agree that we are worth it and this is necessary! (Right, guys?)

Welcome to the team, SkinnyMom. You HAVE to make time for yourself. Use the airline analogy - they tell you if the oxygen masks drop, put yours on before you put on your children's. If you don't take care of YOU first, you can't do as good of a job of taking care of THEM.

I am hoping to be a skinny mom. I struggle with my weight going up and down. Sometimes I am motivated and sometimes I am not. My exercise is the same. Sometimes I am totally on it and other times I go months without exercising. I live overseas and homeschool my three children. Two of my children have dyslexia. I think I feel over responsible for educating them and I am so caught up in their education that I dont take care of myself. I am not very good at getting online but I hope that this might help me be accountable to get back to an ideal weight.

Hi Everyone! I've been a missing member for a few years as I reached my goal and then life got in the way. So I'm back and want to get back to healthy living! I work from home and have two girls and a boy (17, 15, 13) which keep life pretty busy.

I'm down 8 pounds since Lent started Feb 13 so hoping I can keep it up with this teams help!

-Val

This is more or less just a reintroduction as I've been a member for a while, but do to time constraints and a computer that was dying a slow death and didn't like the internet much, I haven't been posting for quite some time.

In the past I've tried all kinds of "programs" for training, like P90X and Insanity, and a program at the local MMA place, etc. Nothing was really working for me so I more or less "gave up" for a while. My goal right now is to get consistent with both eating and workouts. I've been doing some Jillian Michael's DVDs (the short versions for now), and a few other things and just trying to clean up my diet a bit. The diet is not going all that well because my family seems to have an innate ability to tempt me the moment my resolve waivers even slightly..."let's get fish and chips this Friday" instead of "Your fish stew sounds great".

Anyway, two years ago I had a hysterectomy. Ovaries left intact to not go into instant menopause, but I do think I'm still being affected hormonally.

I welcome any tips and tricks you have all learned over the last while.

Cindy
