There is a group called the Official 10-Minute Daily Exercise Challenge

Maybe you can try to work up to that. Just getting in the habit of working out each day, for whatever time, can help you to focus on the things you want to do to take care of yourself.

Hope you are able to feel healthier and stronger over time. emoticon

Welcome. You can do it if you set small achievable goals. Are strict with yourself and measure your portions don't guess. Go at a sensible rate when adding exercise you have never done before or not for a long time. Be prepared for little setbacks and diet saboteurs. I find eating smaller portions rather than changing completely what I eat keeps them off the scent till I am ready to say I am dieting

Welcome to the team. I am a bit north of you, in Denver. I am still trying to figure some of the things on here, but find the nutrition tracker helps me a lot.

Hi, I joined SparkPeople three days ago and am sifting through all the information. It's a complicated site. About myself: I'm 64, just barely diabetic, have had ulcerative colitis for about 5 years, have had an ileostomy for a year and a half, am not working but would like to get to the point I can handle some part time work. I'm 5'9" and 200 lbs. I live in view of Pikes Peak. I like to read most things, but especially little mystery stories. I like walking, Web surfing, working on my house, gardening. The pounds have crept up on me since I was 40. What efforts I've made to stop the creep haven't worked, partly because of irregular work schedules (I'm a nursing assistant, which means shift changes and and double shifts pretty routinely), boredom with various diet plans, and a love of food. Now, having just been diagnosed with diabetes and still recuperating after a series of illnesses in 2011-12 that have left me heavier and weaker, I've decided I need help getting fit again. Everyone I asked said this is the place to get it. I'm looking forward to being part of this group of people who are totally determined to accomplishing their goals.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.--Socrates
