Hi

This Sunday will be 1 full week of waist training. I have 3 corsets, all from Corset Story ($150.00 for all 3).
I follow bishonenrancher on youtube, that's where I get all of my corset info. I am hoping this team will be another source of help.
My waist is 25" my goal was 20" but I am not sure I want to go that low. I saw a model on the internet with a natural 20" waist, and now I am having second thoughts, my big ole butt with a 20" waist might not look as attractive as I imagined. We'll see one inch at a time.

Meme emoticon

When they go low "fart in their face" mwahahaha

I did a quick google search. Some of these are custom corset makers, but they will often have a selection of items on the rack that will be cheaper than their custom items:

http://www.onewildeknight.com/ (Looks to be a custom shop, but worth a call to find out)

Good luck!

Would love to be in San Fran, but I'm based in the Seattle-area. I'm sure there are good ones in this area, but I do not know where they are.

I haven't seen any activity in this group in quite some time. But welcome! As for off the rack... yes, of course custom-made is better, but you can actually get some good things off the rack. Where do you live? I know of a great corset shop in San Fran. There may be one near you!

Cheers,
Heidi

Hello everyone, I'm VJ. I found a reference to this group in an old thread when I searched for corsets here. I'm 23, verging on 24 (in March). I am interested in the idea of waist-training, but lack the funds to buy a custom-made corset for this purpose, so I will have to go off-the-rack for now (no more plastic boning though--ack).

Hello gyrl,

You're right... this group isn't active at all, lol. I've kept in touch personally with a couple of people, but that's about it. I admire you for trying to walk in a corset. The most I've walked in a corset is marching at Pride or walking down Folsom Street ;). I've never worn a corset to restrict my eating or shape my core... I am an opera singer, so I can't. But I can enjoy wearing them otherwise.

Sorry I don't have any advice or experience to share. Nice to meet you.

Cheers,
Heidi

Hello, joining this group although it doesn't seem to be that active. HAve often worn corsets and waist cinchers at lifestyle events and on stage and have worn it to restrict what i have eaten and to shape my core. Have had problems wearing on as often as i would like and did try walking in one and barely made it the mile i was walking when i regularly walk 4 miles at a time. So would liek to learn more from you all if this team is still active.

Hello there. I just joined the team. I found it interesting as I used to be a seamstress & I made corsets & medieval style bodices (I've since lost my sewing machine in a housefire & have been unable to replace it, which why I say "used to be").

I actually found the concept of "corset training" useful in my weight loss goals. I've always been oddly top-heavy (not giant breasts, but broad shoulders, bit of tummy, even when rail-thin, and no butt to speak of), and in an effort to give myself the shape I want (along with my weight loss) I started wearing waist cinchers daily under my clothing, and am very happy at the results so far (they also help act as a back brace to help with my chronic back pain, another plus). I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this, or am I just a weirdo?

Hello all!

I can't believe I didn't introduce myself. My name is Heidi. I just put up a goal picture on my sparkpage. It was of me wearing a corset several years ago, which made me think of this group.

I love corsets, but just for a day or an event. I think it would be fun to corset train - and end up with a really tiny waist! But I am an opera singer, and so I can't. But I can still wear them and love the hourglass figure they give me :).

My corset was made by Dark Gardens in San Francisco. I loved the way it fit so well that when I had my wedding dress made (also one of my goal photos), I just had them copy the pattern!

I think I weighed around 135-140 when I first had it made. The picture I just put up - I'm guessing I weighed around 140-145 there? And for my wedding, I was still able to wear the corset (this time in white) at a weight of about 155. I am almost down to that weight and am so excited that I will soon be able to wear them again.

Hey, is there a way to post corset photos to the group page - instead of going to everyone's individual sites looking for new corset ideas?

I wish everyone a happy and healthy journey!

Cheers,
Heidi

I try to wear it as often as I can but things like bending over at work or hot weather makes it difficult to wear one as often as I would like. BTW I'm wearing one now! ;-) Of course I'm only doing house work, walking and sitting at the computer not bending over to pick up a box of steel like I do at work.

Interesting! I have thought about wearing one to work for back support. Do you wear yours mostly for special occasions, or all the time?

Hi Everyone! Guess what one of my interests is? I got interested in corsets this past year or so when I mentioned to my husband (master) that I really wanted to tone my tummy muscles. His suggestion was to wear a corset? So I did. Guess what it really works! Also they are so feminine. Now I have about 5 corsets.

I'm another Ren-Faire refugee, used to bodices, but I've been interested in a genuine corset for some time, perhaps even waist-training. Maybe this will be the year!

Been in this team for a while (what an awesome idea for a SparkTeam) but hadn't intro'd myself as I thought it was basically a dead team.... delighted to see some activity happening here again, so I guess I'd better formally introduce myself!

My name's Sho, I'm from Scotland and I *LOVE* wearing corsets, as does my partner (he wears a 20 or 22 inch waist - skinny git! :-)

I don't tight-lace for weight-reduction, but I consider good quality and steel-boning to be essential in any corset I buy.

As steel-boned corsets are so expensive, I tend to buy most of my corsets second-hand on ebay or at gothic weekends, it's become quite a challenge to get real bargains, and in the main I've had excellent luck with my purchases.

I currently have 4 corsets that are the right size for me to wear now, and have a couple more which are either two big or too small at the moment. My current corsetry colleaction is as follows:

- My first corset is about eight years old now, it's an electric blue satin overbust from traditional English corsettiers Vollers. A very classic style and shape, very robust, and I still wear it a few times a year (though the colour's something I've got less keen on over the years). I have the same corset in classic black satin in a smaller size from skinnier days and I'm really looking forward to getting back into that soon!

- My most flattering corset is a STUNNING pinstripe overbust by Snobz corsetry, another English company, who in my mind make the best corsets for anybody with a D-cup or above chest. They are very similar in construction and sturdiness to Vollers (the corset-maker was trained by Vollers actually), but they have a curvier line to them which is much more flattering with my size of chest. They are also very competitively priced for their quality. Pic no 2 and 4 in the first row of my photo gallery show my scrumptious cleavage-tastic pinstripe baby!

- My fanciest corset is a softest pink pearly glitter overbust by Velda Lauder, another English designer, who allegedly lists Marilyn Manson and Dita von Teese amongst a star-studded list of clients! Her corsets are very expensive, mine was a present from a friend, otherwise I would never EVER have been able to afford one of her garments. It's not a particularly comfortable of corsets to wear, but it's sooooo stunning it's worth it: I'm wearing it in the "Angel" pic on my SparkPage and I love this corset to death.

- I've also got a stunning black latex underbust corset with purple trim that I won at a steal on eBay. There's no label on the corset, all I know is that it came to from Germany, and the boning and the workmanship is amazing. I got it for the equivalent of about 25 USD so I am VERY pleased!

Anyway. I'll stop blethering on. But you can tell I like corsets VERY, VERY much and I'm glad to have found this team!

Hi, all, I'm Sarah. 23, single mom, special needs kid (but he's the most lovable child you'll ever meet!), college student, earnign my degree in physical therapy. And interested in corsetry. I'm not looking for dramatic waist reduction or wearing a corset every day or overnight. I like the look of corsets, but I don't want to permanently reduce my waist by more than a couple inches at most. It just wouldn't be practical for my lifestyle. I've also found that it is physically impossible to bellydance in a corset, and I really enjoy bellydancing!

Anyhow. I have four corsets. One is Elizabethan, made by me for an SCA costume that I (sadly) never get the opportunity to wear. I can't afford to go to events at the moment, and a lot of them are in sandy places, making it very difficult to maneuver my son's wheelchair, let alone in a corset and hoop skirt! Three are store-bought and, to be technical, one is just a waist cincher. I've re-done the flimsy boning in one with spiral steel (though I'm still waiting on a pair of lacing bones and some grommets) and I plan to do the others as time and budget permit. I haven't decided yet if I want to use spiral steel or flat steel boning for the remaining two. My Elizabethan is made with plastic cable ties, which I adore. Flexible but sturdy and washable!

Hi all, what an Awesome group!

I too love corsets, from soft to metal boned ones..
The feeling when wearing one is hard to explain, but im sure you'll all understand.. I just feel frumpy when i undo the laces, kinda like im going Bluuuuh LOL.. I have a few corsets, one of my Fav's is 83yrs old, and id love to be able to fit it (comfortably) and actually walk in it LOL, its a long line one, and awesome, but sadly when i do it all up (when my hubby does it up for me that is lol) i almost pass out, So i will make this my reward for when the weight is lost..

Have a groovy weekend.,.

Toria..

Hi, I'm Crystal, from MI. I too attend Ren fests, and have a couple bodices for costumes, but I'm interested in corsets. I'd like to be able to give myself a waist (my tummy is where almost all my weight is) and possibly work my way up to wearing them daily, I would love any advice on how to get started!

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is LEslie. I recently turned 21. I'm very interested in corset training and would like to learn more about it. I've always thought that corsets were uber feminine and i don't think there's anything sexier than those hourglass curves.

Woohoo you can do, I know you can. I know we all can. I am in the middle of learning to make corsets, right now I am using old I do mean old fashioned dresses from thrift shops to make corsets, and so far they are coming out great for people who are bigger. All my corsets are to big for me now so I wanted to see if I could make some.

Hello everyone!
I must have missed putting in my introduction when I started this group...
My name is Amnita and I'm 27, mother of 1, single mom, blah blah. I've loved corsets for as long as I can remember. They just seem to be part of me. I'm sure you can all understand what I mean.
Unfortunately, for the last couple of years I've really let my weight get out of hand so I'm not even bothering to try one on at the moment. So, my goal is to fill my closet with corsets once I get down to my goal weight. That will be my reward, and it's reward enough for me!!

Hello, my name is Elvira, yes my real name, and I am a professional photographer. I am also a Dom. I am a widow, for the past 8 years. I do travel for my job, I photo wildlife, actor and actress (though at times wildlife and the actors are hard to tell apart) and authors. I currently live in VT but I have lived in a lot of different place.

I hold 3 different degrees, one in computer engineering, one in liberal arts and one in behavioral science. (sorry english isn't my first language). I usually draw and try to design my own corsets, and then make them. Still working on making better models. I usually go to a lot of shows to take promo photos so I can usually talk to dealers and stuff for creative ideas and how to make them better.

I am single and looking, but not in a rush. Just enjoying losing the weight and well even after 8 years still in a way getting over the death of my husband.

Hello,

I'm Ledonna and I have been interested in corsets for a while now. I currently own 4. 3 of which I made. I have two that are Elizabethan and one Victorian and the last is a sweetheart.

A corset that is correctly fitted to you is the most comfortable thing but a little hot in the South part of Texas...smile.

Hello back!

I encourage everyone to pipe up when the mood strikes them. As you probably realize, I'm not one of those administrators who gets all antsy when a forum is quiet. To me that just says no one has anything to say on the topic at the moment. When there's a relevant issue, people will post.

Hello VANYELMOON,

I do aspire to make a corset, can you recommend patterns?

I dabble in bellydance as well, not to perform, just for fitness. I just got a hooping dvd and hope to practice the moves. I do 15 min a day of hooping with a heavy hoop, got the lighter one for dance moves recently.

Hi, just found this team. I have been doing Ren fair, Civil War recreation, and belly dance. I love to sew and make my own corsets, circa 1600's and 1860's. I hope to have fun in this team.

I know it must be very difficult, but I have a few historic costumer's patterns. I like to make things anyway, would be the ultimate craft project.

Hi My name is April. I live in NYC. Besides foundation garments I have:

One red satin under bust laced corset by Katy K. It no longer fits. That's one of my goals, to get back into it.

One black webbing waist cinchers, looks like a wide belt. Purchase at Patricia Field.

I may make myself a new one, I have a few patterns, just have to collect the materials and work what size I wish to be.

Hello! My name is Emily, and I started with a girdle I needed for the bridesmaid's dress I wore for my sister-in-law's wedding. I have always been interested in corseting, and enjoyed doing so when in costume for SCA events or Halloween, but never thought about doing it for daily life until recently. I plan on wearing the girdle more often, and hope to get a custom corset for every-day wear once I get down to my long-term goal weight. I don't have aspirations towards a super-waspy waist, but I would like to accentuate it a bit more than normal. Isn't that why we're all here? emoticon

Welcome Cookie,

Are you a daily tightlacer, or do you just wear corsets for fashion? Just curious.

Welcome!

Well, since you're already on Spark, we don't have to give you the diet & exercise lecture. emoticon

I know Amy of Wasp Creations makes a summer weight corset, although I still don't know how comfortable that would be in an AZ summer. emoticon

Feel free to check out the links; they're full of information.

Hi Ladies. What a cool Sparkteam. I currently own a corset but it's just from Frederick's and I don't think it was designed to achieve shape-altering results. I just had a baby 6 weeks ago, (and another one 22 months ago) and I'm looking into ways to get my hourglass shape back. I have been wearing a postpartum girdle, but I am also interested in trying out a properly made and fitted corset to get my small waist back.

Welcome welcome. Yes corseting is super fun and very sexy. It also acts as a stomach stapling that you can take off and tore in your closet - when you are restricted you have to eat small meals 6 or 8 times a day and stay very low fat, high protein and high fiber.

I love it and I can't wait to get to my first big milestone so I can buy a good custom corset.

Ditto what SUCCUBUS said. I loved them since wearing them yearly to RenFest for a few years but it never occurred to me wearing them for long periods of time in this day and age and the effect it would have on my figure. *Curious*

Found it!

I represent the newbie element of the forum; I'm interested in entering into a tightlacing regime. I'm not trying to go crazy, and beat world records, i just want to alter my shape a bit. I changed my teeth with braces - same thing.

Most other things about me are listed on my sparkpage.

Hello and welcome to Corset Crusaders. Come on in, introduce yourself, tell us all about you.

My name is Hilary, I am your moderator and I am a non monogamous bisexual woman. I live with my boyfriend and my girlfriend in a comfortable threesome. I am a counselor with a BS and most of an MS in psychology. I currently go to school full time and work full time, which means I am busy as hell and constantly fighting to eat for health instead of convenience. I love the ocean, rock climbing, hiking and horses. Anything else you want to know? just ask.
