Bel, you'd think I've been around here for at least 5 years! LOL I should have made goal a long time ago. I just need to follow my own advice!

some good advice there bonnie sound like a true spark people professional. lol

ive had my ups and downs myself. now im battleing something new. my med im taking i think might cause me to gain wt. so i have to be extra careful now what i eat. and it may not make any difference. we shall see. in the mean time dr. has not said i can exercise. so im only doing some lite yoga. and walking on flat surfuces. using some lite wts. and doing reps for upper strength. ive been drinking lots of water which all of you know i have a hard time doing this. i suspect its the med. my back feels better tho. so maybe she will release me to do more.

RETIREMENT FEELS GOOD. but i think i work harder now than when i was at work.

Ginnie, there are always ups and downs in weight loss. We just need to make sure we have more downs weight wise than ups! The keys to success: consistency, eating healthy, exercise, sleep, and drinking lots of water. Start out small with small goals and continue to build. Try 10 minutes of exercise to begin and track your food. We all have a tendency to underestimate our portions and calories, until we track every single bite. As far as exercise goes, cardio and strength training are both important. Cardio burns the fat and strength training is important for muscle tone and helping keep skin tone. Don't set a goal of more than two pounds a week--losing too fast means that you are probably losing muscle as well as fat. Of course, the weight loss amount will vary from week to week, so don't obsess with the scales. Look for other changes that are positive-body measurement or the way your clothes fit. Attitude is also important--don't think of this as torture, but look for things that you enjoy doing and go for it. As far as food goes, research has shown that avoiding your favorite "bad" foods often leads to binging when you do get around them. Allow yourself an occasional treat--just plan ahead for it and eat a small serving of that chocolate cake (or whatever it is) and not the whole thing!!! :-) Feel free to post questions on the team posts, leave messages on our sparkpages or send us a sparkmail if we can help in any way.

im with lynn. losing wt. is very complicated but it can be done. you can go to our sparkpages and look at some of our pics. last couple of years has been hard on me. husband with cancer, him losing job, now i get ill and it has caused me to eat but i havent really gained that much back. im short i use to think i was 5'5 but doc says now im only 5'3 thats to be expected as we age. any dificet of wt. will still look bad on me. lol but i do w.w. points to make myself responsible for what goes in my mouth. and now im doing yoga at home. and some gentle weight training. anything helps but dieting alone wont do it. you hve to have both. when i say dieting i mean eating right. not those stupied diets you hear about. tried them all. they have all failed. spark has everything you need to get started. you just have to want it really bad.

RETIREMENT FEELS GOOD. but i think i work harder now than when i was at work.

We have all been there Ginnie. Lost some weight, but still needing to lose more only to find it start creeping back up again. Set yourself a plan and stick to it. How are you with your food, good or bad? be honest we don't mind, we have heard it all before. Do you exercise and if so what do you like doing. You need to find something that you like and stick with it. It does not matter how much or how long to begin with but just be consistent and find a way to fit it into your life.

I am having the same struggle myself at the moment. I lost quite a bit of weight and was determined that I wasn't going back there again, but after a year of health issues it has slowly crept on again. So we set ourselves a new plan of action, work out what we need to do for ourselves to achieve it and go for it. Remember we are all here because of the same issues and together we can support each other through it.

Hugs Lynn

I'm a Very overweight woman that has to get control of her eating and get the weight off.
Been trying for a number of years and it's only lately that I seem to be getting anywhere.
I have 50 lbs left to lose of the 60 lb goal.
