I just got over a much reduced version of Covid than you but I still have the breathing issues. I run out of breath so easily so I think 10 minutes is a very good start. I walk the dog in the morning and will hopefully get my ass in to the gym and walk slowly on the treadmill every day.

Good luck to you in your continued recovery. It actually looks like our weight loss goals are very similar.

Been in Spark for quite awhile but fell off the wagon for quite a bit. I really need to be back on here taking care of myself. Just had Covid and lost 15 pounds, but yea it's coming back - I am trying to keep that part off but losing weight due to being sick just is not a good way to lose! Exercise will be minimal for awhile because I still have breathing issues, but I will get there. Just ordered Every Plate as a way to control my meals. Also bought the Nutrisystem boxes for breakfast and lunch. Retraining myself to where I can get the menu planning for myself done correctly.

Happy to join this team - Monday will hopefully be the start of Anytime Fitness even if I have to go 2 mph for 10 mins.

Hello all! I am Courtney. Just starting trying to work on my health again. After a week of doing at least 10 minutes a day, I figured this would be a great group to be a part of!

Hi Team!

I'm Sandi. My goal is to work out for at least 10min a day with a mix of Leslie Sansone, riding my scooter, and a shred challenge. emoticon

Hi! My name is Sandra, and I'm a Christian who lives in Orlando. I have the hardest time getting over my fear of exercising. I think it was because 3 of the seven or eight times I fractured my right foot were during exercise. Granted I wasn't using the correct form on the leg press - I was pushing with my toes - or with the karate dummy during a trial lesson - I'm not sure what part of the foot I was supposed to use then. I am so out of shape I know I need to push past my fear. Thank you for your kind attention!

Good morning! I was a return visitor to spark people in the past. I am going to work on being an old timer ...that is my long time goal. I know if I am an active long timer and become vested in the community I will gain an ongoing healthier life!! Joining challenges and becoming members on forums will help me in many ways, meet new people that will inspire me and keep me accountable. Looking forward to this challenge!

I've been on Spark for several years, but after having a very serious case of Covid which hospitalized me for 23 days (5 of them on a ventilator), I'm renewing my goals to lose weight and get healthy. Exercise is very hard for me right now since I'm still on oxygen and get easily short of breath and fatigued, but I think doing 10 min a day will help me build endurance and promote my recovery.

I'm a long time SP member (14 years) and checking out this challenge to add to my tools to keep me accountable. I've been working out consistently again for the past 3 months after fallign off course. I always believed 10mins is better than none and when I first started back up I could only do abut 10 or 15 minutes at a time. Now I usually do an hour walk each day. My current program includes a daily one hour walk a day and strength training 3 or 4 times a week.

Hi all, just introducing myself. My name is Amanda and I joined SP in January, but have only just now started to use the site. I have been making a lifestyle change since August 21st 2019 and have lost around 65 lbs. My losses kind of stalled out in April though, and I have been gaining and losing the same 5 or so pounds since then.

Here it is August again, one year later, and I wanted to take action and recommit to dropping the last 25 lbs. Hoping to encourage and be encouraged and use SP to full advantage as I refocus on my goals.

Enjoy the day!
Amanda

Hello all!
Excited for the support and structure. I would like to lose 100lbs because I dont remember ever being that light and based on my height I should be. The lightest I have ever remember being as a teen was 143. I was always strong and muscular. Today I have weighed in at 222.4 I have weighed more and less. First small goal will to be under 220.0 Please support me ! I feel lonely and defeated and would love to be a friend to you if you need it as well.

I am starting to use sp faithfully. I worked out in our pool today for 35 min. I joined this team to get more consistent, I dont fit exercise in every day. I want to be accountable to reaching my goals. My hubby is on board with me. We just gave away all the high carb and sugar products in our house. I am staying quarantined so now I cant cheat. Lol.

Hi all:

I've been on SP for 4 years. Was doing really well BC (Before Covid), walking daily, joined a senior ctr with a gym. Walked all over the UK.

But March hit hard. Inactivity plus the emotional toll of the world made me give up on it all.

Now, trying to find ways to be more active indoors. Hope taking this challenge will bring me back to daily movement - even when I don't feel like it!

Hello!

I'm Lynda and I'm happy to be here. I enjoy hiking, biking and kayaking when I get the chance, but aside from that I really need to up my game, particularly with strength training and stretching, as I have lower back issues and have started seeing a chiropractor about that.

I think I might have tried this before, although not sure when. I need some extra encouragement to actually do my "walk before breakfast" streak. Working at home has its advantages and disadvantages, and short walking times are so much easier to do outdoors when I'm home.

I'm 63 and have been trying to lose the same 20 pounds for the last decade. Most recently I went to WW and struggled for three months to lose 4 pounds.

Here I am counting calorie in, and exercising as I count calories out. I'm losing too.

Hi everyone! Time for me to get back on track toward living a more healthy, energetic life - this time to last. I'm discovering that, though retired, as a grandma (7 little ones) I have more reasons than ever to get in shape, reclaim my energy and not give into aging. With over 50 pounds to lose, it's going to be a journey but I know I can do it! Thanks all for sharing your stories - you give me hope! emoticon

Hello everyone. I originally joined Spark People about 13 years ago and it was very helpful. I
lost over 50 pounds. Then 5 years ago I had a fall and destroyed my knee. I had surgery and a plate put into my leg. After several months in a wheelchair so it could heal, I started to learn to walk again. Since my knee is unreliable, suddenly giving way, I have debated how to begin to exercise again. I just purchased a peddler that you can use while sitting down and at home. I am starting with this and the 10-minute daily challenge. I'm actually doing about 20 minutes right now.

Hi, I just joined the Challenge today. I started it by walking for 10 minutes today. I did have to take a 2 minute break after the first 5 minutes. I haven't been able to do much for the last 7 months and I was given the go ahead by my pulmonologist to take short walks. I had to leave a very physical job in October and have gotten on disability. I was diagnosed with PAH and am on oxygen when I am up and about. If you are not familiar with PAH it is a rare disease that affects both my heart and lungs. So, being able to walk again has been really important to me and I thought that this challenge might help me get going again. it definitely feels good to be able to go for walks again.

Hello
I am new to this Team.
My name is Karen. I'm a 54 year old mother of 6. Have been overweight most of my adult life. Am at the heaviest weight I've ever been right now and hating it. I hate how I feel and how I look in my clothes and photos. I have high b/p, thyroid disorder, am borderline diabetic, suffer from periods of depression and am emotionally , mentally and physically drained.
I need to lose weight for all of these reasons.
I'm only 5 foot 2 and weigh a whopping 262 pounds . This obesity is now affecting my knees, hips and back.
I dont want to feel like this anymore.
I'm ready for change.
Im very sedentary so I thought starting with this 10 minute daily challenge was a good place to start.

Exercise is not one of my favorite things to do. I've been working on it and the 10 minutes is very doable. I have been doing yoga stretches, which makes me feel so good - physically and mentally. I just need to be more consistent. So here I am!

Hi I'm Rebecca. I live in rural Oregon. I rejoined SparkPeople Dec 26th 2018 and am doing very well - lost 11 lbs of my 20# goal. But I feel the need for an extra push in the exercise department, so am going to do this streak. One of my barriers to a workout is that there are SO MANY options! I don't know what to do when and how to get it all in. All that confusion sometimes makes me want to not even start. I finally sat down and devoted some time to figuring out a routine for the strength/core element -- good enough for now. AND I have a stationary recumbent bike that I can always fall back on to meet my 10+ per day. Looking forward to interacting with this team.

Hi, I'm Carol. I've started exercising fairly regularly on my treadmill but think I would do better if I tracked it in something more than a notebook. Hoping so. I have had back surgery and still have permanent damage and sciatica so I am limited to my walking but "some is better than none". :)

Hi my name is Joyce, decided to join after reading the spark l article on staying motivated to exercise. I do exercise but I need to get on a better schedule and set times rather then just doing it nitty-gritty.

Hello! I am ready to move forward with my health. I start a new position on Jan 2. I start a new healthy me today. I've been battling weight and angst for a few years now. This past year has been especially rough. My gift to myself is mindfulness of my health. Time to refill my spirit to be able to do all that I love and give my best.

2 weeks of gain needs to stop. Goal is gym 4 times/week and adding 10 minutes of core work daily. Great year don't want to give it back during the holidays!

Welcome to the team! The stationary bike is a good, gentle way to get your exercise. Good choice! I'm a bit partial, because I have one too. I need to go and sit on it each day, but I keep procrastinating about it. You're off to a good start! Way to go!

Hi - New to the team, and especially this 60 day Challenge. We had a trainer doing classes 3 days a week at our company's wellness center, but he's moved on to a full time job so needed a constraint to keep me active until they hire a new trainer.

Hi, I'm Idgie. I went from zero exercise to pretty consistently doing at least 10 minutes a day, but now I'm trying for a long streak. I'm also on a challenge that started Saturday, and we get points for minutes of exercise, so I am trying to increase by at least 1 minute a day until I'm at the challenge maximum of 120.

I am doing well at exercising at least 10 minutes a day, nearly every day, but making a commitment to others to keep me honest never hurts.

Ive had a lot of zero exercise days over the past year, and think Im out of that slump. I joined this team to strive for 4 weeks of consistency. I do love exercise and will do hours of it on some days. On others, it will be a fight for me. Pain issues sometimes kick my butt. We can all do this! I wish everyone the best no matter what level youre at. You can do this one day at a time!

I do understand what its like to start from a point of no mobility. I had a very severe blood clot 12+ years ago and was unable to walk. Scooting around on my butt...exhausted with the slightest effort is not forgotten. Im really good at setting pie in the sky goals and will chase them for years. And sometimes they become your reality! I see a buff fit chic in my 50+ year old future self and hope you see one too!

I am Jae. Married to my husband of 46 years. I have two grown children with families of their own. I have five grandchildren and one great great daughter...I also have two fur kitties who bring me joy.
I have Fibromyalgia, OsteoArthritis. and long standing depression. My husband has Dementia which has recently progressed to mid stages.Needless to say for me some days are more challenging than I can bear. It is not easy to be a caregiver and especially if the caregiver needs care. But with the Lords help I manage to get through everyday with gratitude knowing things can always be worse.
I started SparkPeople weighing 214. I now weigh 162. I would like to lose another thirty pounds. I am an emotional eater and I will always have to keep my emotions in check and learn not to lean on food for stress...
I have learned to take one day at a time. not to regret yesterday or worry about tomorrow. For as we know tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
When I am not busy taking care of my husband or the everyday decisions come up. I enjoy coloring, writing, music, and my computer...I was born with Spina Bifida ...which was difficult for my childhood but many life lessons learned along the way...This is my path that has been given to me..nothing left to do but learn to walk in joy with it.

Hi! I've been doing pretty well getting some walking in most days, but this will give me one more way to stay accountable and be sure to squeeze it in. Glad to be here!

I am Misty. I am not a new Sparkie, I'm returning. What actually motivated me to get back to getting a better person physically is I can actually feel my chubby cheeks and the pain from the weight I'm carrying on my back. If I don't lose the extra weight, I will end up in a wheelchair or dead very soon.

Hi. I am Cheri from Georgia. I joined Spark People in 2012 and have been on and off, lost weight, gained weight. This is my third and...I am determined...final effort to get down to a healthy weight and stay there. I just turned 65. Since November 2017 I have lost 29 pounds. I am being consistent with exercise. I joined the team to keep myself on track.

Hi, new to this challenge although not new to SP. Been working on myself since October 2017 and have lost 20lbs so far, YAY! Trying to stay positive and motivated, definitely have a sugar addiction but it's getting easier. Have 20lbs left to lose to reach initial weight loss goal but I am also trying to become stronger and build lean muscle, so not freaking out over the number on the scale so much. My body is definitely changing as my clothes are becoming looser.

Hi, I am Deb. I am 60 years old and live in a tiny village of 25 souls, deep in the mountains of Idaho. I originally started SparkPeople when I found out I was diabetic. It took 8 years of commitment and 103lbs to turn that around. Once the diagnosis was reversed, I lost my momentum, stopped using SparkPeople and gained 30lbs. I am back and have recommitted myself. I want to lose those 30lbs and then continue the journey for another 50lbs. I am not very comfortable opening myself up on line. I have challenged myself to get better at it.

If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do things you have never done.

Hello! My name is Chantelle, and I'll be 40 next month (!!!). Last year, I wanted to be "fit by forty," but that didn't happen - there's been a lot of change and challenges going on.

I have a history of distorted thinking where exercise is concerned, so (only) 10 minutes a day may be challenging for me (not enough, not good enough, etc.). That being said, I need to allow myself rest days - I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a year and a half ago.

I'm overweight and out of shape and tired of not having any energy, so I figured it's time to try something different!

Hello everyone, Im Carmen from lovely San Juan, PR, a 59 -year-old wife, mother and grandmother who is starting my 9th year on SP. Im down 24 lbs, and want to lose another 90. SP has helped me stop the gradual yearly gain of 8 to 10 lbs.

I know that I need to focus on getting regular exercise, at least the 10 minutes challenge, but it is so difficult and I get tired so soon that I do not like it, but I do love acuaerobics. I used to do a class twice a week, but then my mother fell down and had an injury I took care of her for about 6 months, then Hurricane Maria came and destroyed everything in the Island and we are just starting to recuperate, so I am planning to go back to the acuaerobics again soon. I need to make that phone call to find out the new recovery schedule.

I am joining this team to challenge myself to make daily exercise a regular part of my life, because of my health and because I deserve it.

Hi everyone, Im Gail, a 74-year-old wife, mother and grandmother who is starting my 8th year on SP. Im down 25 lbs, and want to lose another 15. SP has helped me stop the gradual yearly gain of 5-8 lbs.

I know that I need to focus on getting regular exercise. I have a treadmill, free weights and a resistance band, but as a friend once told me, keeping them under the chesterfield doesnt do much good! I love to swim and enjoy taking our 30-month-old granddaughter for walks.

I am joining this team to challenge myself to make daily exercise a regular part of my life.

HI, I love using Spark Coach-it's a great way to 'walk' us through the process of gaining healthy habits without being overwhelming...SO, today was Day 10 & the Challenge to do 10 minutes of exercise led me here...
Not my first time on Spark-the first time I lost 60# in 6 months & kept 100# off for about 5 years, but then I fell away from Spark & healthy habits & gained it all back, even though I swore I'd never let it happen after all the hard work I'd done...
It's never too late to change a lifestyle, though, so I'm back, maybe more realistic this time, understanding I will need to do this for the long-term-it's a marathon, not a race, so I'll pace myself & enjoy the journey...
