Good Morning Team...
I am sore BUT not as sore as I would imagine after so much time in the last two days working outside...and while I enjoy being in my gardens I really want to get to the gym and in the pool for some nice less impact on my body exercise. Have a lot of tree branches to deal with before I do that.

Hi! My name is Barb and I have been a member of SP for exactly a month today- emoticon I just saw this team this morning and thought to myself "I have to join this one", because I have just started to try to "organize" my life, and it is so hard. I am so happy to be here. Hopefully, I can get on the right track and start to somewhat organize my life. emoticon Thanks for making me feel welcome!

Hi BINGO -- I just recently joined this group too. I do okay in some areas too but my closets have become just nasty. My DH is not organized. If you have any words of wisdom, let me know.

Hi y'all! I am BINGO24 and I wish I had found this team sooner. I am very organized in some areas like my kitchen, but not in others like my closet. My husband is totally disorganized and that is frustrating to me. I am hoping that this team will help me deal with both my own issues and that of coping with my husband's clutter problems.

Focusing on the positive.

Hi! I'm Janet and think this team is right for me. I retired fully this year, spent the winter in a wheelchair following foot tendon surgery and had a chance to get a good look at how much stuff we have. It's time to downsize and simplify!! I have already begun but want to keep my motivation up.

I had a bunch of things...art projects I won awards for, etc. ect from school taking up several boxes. I had read somewhere to take a picture of the things like that so you can still "see them" without them taking up so much room. I wasn't able to let everything go, but I sure did get rid of a lot. I was OK with the pictures and had no regrets letting that stuff go. Now just the rest of my house!

Hi, I'm Liz. Almost an empty nester...3 of 4 out on their own. I took a long look at our closets and our storage room and decided once and for all it's time to get rid of stuff. I'm a sentimental keeper of things, especially if it has something to do with my kids...like old grade school papers, awards and report cards. They don't want them, but I keep them. Then, there are the things that I've kept for years, and haven't used, but I keep thinking that I'll use it some day. Hopefully, I'll be able to get rid of things and get organized! Anyone have any hints on how to let go of sentimental things?

I love spark and am on my journey to begin losing weight again and getting healthy now my lo is almost a year old! My house...HELP!! SOS! It was bad before, but it redic now. So much baby stuff on top of my junk! My goal is to get it under control and start getting rid of things. I have tried hard to keep lo's things organized, and get rid of baby items that weren't a favorite or that I have similar of. I want to enjoy my tiny home and my family w/o always worrying about stuff. Grew up without a lot, and I guess for years I just hung onto too much...WAY too much! I know people sometimes ask why I don't just donate everything I know I don't want/need...and I do a lot...but we also need the money. I stay home with lo and my hubby doesn't make a lot. Anyway, that's part of the clearing the clutter..work on getting things listed for sale. Looking for "clutter buddies" as well to help support in this area! I check in daily!

It sounds like you're already quite expert at organizational skills and will come up with some innovative, nicely functional and attractive ideas.

Welcome to SP as well! Nice to meet you - and that picture of you is adorable!

Hello, all. I recently joined SP and have just started exploring the teams. I'm an organizer, but very inconsistent. I'd like to improve on that. I feel better with a tidy, organized home. We moved to a challenging basement apartment in a townhouse. I've created a space for everything, so it's fairly tidy. But there are DIY projects to finish and I need to go through more things--especially the books and my craft/art/office/mudroom. Both have had an initial sweep through, but need more attention. It may need to wait a bit, as it's planting time and I've switched to "organizing" the outside. Looking forward to hearing your great tips and throwing a few of my own into the mix.

RODYANNE, what an amazing trick! That's very clever...and obviously effective! Was that an idea you just came up with yourself, or had you read about it somewhere? In any event, I can imagine all the winter-related "stuff" that gets on people's cars up there - what an effective solution! emoticon emoticon emoticon

It was a lovely sunny day in the fifties here in Putnam County NY. I decided today was the day to get the winter grime out of and scrubbed off my car. It took me 90 minutes to do it all. I found a good trick also. I added 1 capful of a product like Murphy's Oil Soap to a large bucket of warmish water. It really was a no name brand. I washed the car with a longhandled brush and rinsed it with cold water. On the moon roof the water beaded. On the rest of the car the water ran off and left the car shiny! It looks like a new car!

Hi all. I am new to the team and am really excited about getting more organized. I have recently gotten more organized as far as my financial life goes. Got a columnar pad , listed all my bills and right down everything each month as i pay it. Then keep my checkbook balanced at least once a month if not more. I know that that the key to me be able to lose weight is going to have to be set up the same way. I have to get organized in all aspects of my life. My goal is to try to do something towards being healthier each day as well as being more organized at home and work. Hoping that taking it one day at a time that I will make progress and not get overwhelmed. I am a doozy when i feel overwhelmed and things can go south really fast. Any help that I can get from you will be greatly appreciated!

Hi! My name is Deonna and I am new to this team. I love organization I just can't seem to keep it that way. I am going to find a place for everything and go through and get rid of a bunch of stuff. I know getting organized doesn't happen over night but I can start with bite size chunks every day. I am starting with my bedroom because I also want to paint it... I just recently bought a magazine that has a bunch of ideas I am goin to incorporate "secrets of getting organized"- better homes and garden. If its available to you I definitely recommend it!

I'm Susan, and I used to be a pretty diligent FlyBaby. I have lapsed, and I've got the clutter to prove it emoticon even though I've rid my body of all its 75 lbs. of excess "body clutter," as the FlyLady calls extra pounds.

The worst and most daunting of this is paper clutter. As I write this, I've got a pile of recently clipped grocery coupons to my right, some inserts yet to be clipped to my left, and a desk with receipts to be entered into the family budget and filed.

I got rid of my larger clothes, but I still have some that need to be donated which have ebbed their way out of style. I have no excuse; there's a donation bin up the street from us.

Nice to meet you, and good to purge my head of all this stuff, too!

I am coming back to sparkpeople after a long time away, gaining weight! In addition to losing weight, I'd like to lose a lot of clutter!
I am thinking it might be fun to keep track of how much stuff gets removed from my house.

Some years ago I found FlyLady.net on the internet. It helped me tremendously in clearing out my clutter that I had at the time. I am now down to clearing out smaller items and books and things from my MA program. I graduated in 2009. I have so many different types of books that I got a special bookcase for them all. I need to weed through them and donate some to the library and Salvation Army. I am now back on board with SP and doing well with food and exercise. Thank God.

Hi My name is Carollee,

I live alone in senior housing and work alone at the hospital. My kids are grown and way too busy for me. I find myself sitting in front of the TV Frittering a way my time. In the last four years I have lost about 90 pounds.

However I just react to things instead of taking control.

So now my focus is organizing my finances (lots of bills and little income),
trying to organize my time (so I exercise more and schedule time to try to make some new friends)
Organizing my Studio apartment so I can focus on the important things

Hello all, my name is Ute, and I just stumbled upon 4DOGNIGHT's SparkPage with her amazingly beautiful bedroom picture and I thought how really shabby I keep my house. And then I saw that she is one of the leaders of this SparkTeam. So here is my story. I come from a very organized and beautiful home. My parents are very good about cleaning and organizing. Me and my sister are absolutely not. In part I think since we were never taught or asked to clean and keep our things in order (my mother did everything for us, no demands) we just really don't have a grip on how this should run. I do my housework, but I have so much clutter accumualting... usually in the office, laundry room and our bedroom, which is the biggest room in the house and our bed is on ones side, so extra stuff we don't really know where to put goes in the other part. Very annoying. There are always knitting projects and stuff the girls sort out and don't need anymore. I have a donation box I fill and the don't know who to give it to. So I just keep it all. I am really finding myself more and more frustrated. I am not a hoarder, but everywhere I turn, there is something else that needs to be organized. It is just never ending. Oy. So I am hoping that with the guidance posts on here, I can get a fresh start and as I clean up my body and bad habits, I can tackle this as well. Thanks all for listening :) I joined the 15 minute goal on here, which is a great start, right?

Hello I am Robyn, my home badly needs organizing and thorough cleaning. I have tried many systems for organizing my home, however I get bored and quit. I also get focused on projects to such an extent that every thing else is neglected. With 3 young children chaos happens in a matter of hours. Despite all this I don't want to live in a pigsty.

Hi This is Simar. I want to build a solid routine with good habits such as getting up early, exercise regularly (some cardio, some strength training, something that will make me sweat!!!), build a social support system for myself with friends I can trust and I've seen that this takes effort, time and space, which I want to create with organizing my life, having a separate ME time where I can spend time with myself in quiet reflecting on my day or events, meditating, or anything I want to think about!!!!, cook healthy food at home so I don't waste money and my health eating from outside all the time, set up a time for reading something everyday and for fun (whether it is in company of friends or music or some loved one!!). Now that's a LOT to ask for to fit in a day, everyday but I wish, hope I can accomplish it someday. A lot of people have. I guess I can too. Good luck to everyone :)

Simar.

Hi I'm KarLi & I'm not only here to organize things in my closet but to get my life in order rid of the clutter of my unhealthy ways. Straighten up my act by getting rid of my bad eating habits & screwed up sleep schedule! I'm so tired of letting my weight be the one in charge I'm taking back control so I can have my organized life back once & for all.

Hi all I have just joined this team as I am a third generation hoarder and I have the occasional blitz and clear things up and out, but then return to my old ways, I need to declutter for good in both my house, my mind and my body.

Hi all,
I joined this team because I want to get organized once and for all. With my weight-loss journey, I've been better able to get things done and have already seen some progress, which amazes me already.

However, I have a bad habit that I'm going to have deal with and break. I clean up a part of my house and all the things I don't know what to do with all end up in the same place, the middle room. It's the spot that gathered all the miscellaneous stuff when I moved in this summer and has since become the land of lost stuff. This week I'm hoping to have enough time to tackle "Mount Accumulation" -- the mound of boxes I've never truly unpacked. Okay, it's not really a mound, but it feels that way sometimes because it isn't very orderly.

The rest of the house isn't bad. Just the one room. It's not too terrible, just a few hours work if I can stay focused, but the problem is that often when presented with such a challenge, I don't stay focused. It's hard to find places for everything when I find myself getting stuck each and every time trying to figure out what to do with something.

Then I wander off and end up doing something else because the frustration and boredom of it all sets in.

The other problem I have is that I am terrible with paperwork. Incoming mail is an incoming mess. I have a file cabinet and the drawers are broken on it now with everything that's in it, and that's replacing one that had the same problem. I just don't know when to let some of it go.

I'm glad that so far I've come a long way since I've lost some weight. The rest of the house looks great in comparison and is definitely a step up from before when I could barely walk without pain making organization a little difficult. I've just relocated the clutter though from one room to the next. So I'm not sure it counts that the rest of the house is clean if all I've done is move the mess.

My goal is to tackle that mess this week and and maybe next, and after that I hope to maintain it all indefinitely, learning how to keep on top of things as I go.

Hi everyone,
My name is Mary Ann and I have lots of piles that need tending to. Piles of papers, clothes, books, magazines. I tend to hold on to a lot of things that should just be tossed. I'm afraid I'll need it someday...it hardly even happens. I have collections of things, Beanie Babies, wind up toys, Pez, Yoga Journal magazine, Consumer Reports...and more books. I don't need any of these things at this point in my life, but it is so difficult to think about letting go of them. There are so many memories attached to these "THINGS." I want to simply my life, get rid of what doesn't serve me, (including about 40 pounds), and get back to having a place for everything with room to spare. I'm so glad I found this team.

Hi I'm Maggie from Florida. I find that clutter is stressful and overwhelming. I also for many years had a hard time parting with things. That has changed and am looking for an organized and clutter-free life and home.

Hi, I am Gloria and I live in Tennessee! Over the past few years I seem to get more and more unorganized, mainly from work, and also because I am one of those people who just tries to do too much. It seems like I can have one good project going on at once, and the rest of it gets into a chaotic state. Over the past couple of years I am trying to downsize and simplify, and I find that helps. Right now I am trying to organize my closet. It is taking me a while because I cannot ever find more than a few minutes at a time to work on it, but slowly but surely it is coming around. I am also trying to work on my health and eating habits. We are trying to eat at home most of the time and so I have to plan meals, go to the store and cook...I have a small kitchen, so that requires some organization too!

Hi, I am MaryAnn from southern Colorado.

My goals for this year are a major declutter of the house and garage.
Included in that is a general and deep cleaning.

Organized is not my strong point, used to be a lot better, alot of it
is lack of motivation and depression.

Looking forward to getting a lot done!

Took a tour of my basement this morning after several weeks of not being able to go downstairs due to a sprained ankle. It was pretty depressing to see all the clutter and junk just in my basement, not to mention my garage, closets and storeroom! Told DH this is the year we get ourselves organized. A friend on another team told me about the "Organized Life" team and it sounds like just what I need. Joining and hoping my weight loss and organizing goals can both be met this year. Glad to find this team and become a member.

Hello!
I am new to this team, but I've been on SP for a couple years now. I have read a couple topics and I have to say I am very excited about everything this team has to offer. I think I will really enjoy being an active member here! It's great to meet all of you!

ok, back home from vacation. At the risk of sounding like a broken record:

In January I am going to complete the organization of all closets that were painted. Going thru all papers, file cabinet included. Everything that we don't use, but don't want to get rid of is going in a labeled box and stored in the basement.

It's going to be a great year to get organized!

I'm back on this team! After Christmas I've been motivated to organize and get my house and life in order. Hoping this team can be a tool in that process.
