I am 60 and have been working on the Couch to 5k training program to prepare myself for my first 5k in July. I have fibromyalgia so it takes me longer to do the program as I need longer time to recover from the stress but I am at the halfway point of my running circuit. As I run longer it takes me more repetitions to complete the stages than the outlined plan. I am doing each stage for two weeks instead of one, and some days I need three days to recover but I still keep trying a little more each week. At my age I have to really pay close attention to knees, feet or hips feeling sore afterwards. I make sure I stretch well before and after each session. Sometimes a warm bath is also needed to lessen the repercussions. There is a forum topic here for others who are also doing the Couch to 5k program on this team under team events. That is where everyone is supposed to be placing their progress and any observations or difficulties they are having.

To me HEALTH means Energy. Stamina. Flexibilty. A relatively pain free body. Enjoying healthy food. You are your body, and your weight loss efforts will succeed exactly to the extent that you mange to do the work on behalf of your embodied self. You’ll do much better when you focus on making positive changes to improve your health and well-being, rather than on fighting your bad habits.

I am 65 y.o. and no longer run. I used to do so when I was younger but now, I prefer to walk long distances because just a couple of years ago, I had knee problems. Right now, they are behaving but I really do not want to 'tease' those knees to make my life impossible to live.

I am 64 years old, very busy, still working . I am 41 pounds overweight and really am trying to become a good runner. I would like to run 10K in May 2015 in 65 minutes. I would love to communicate with people at my stage of life learning to run.
