After 8 months of living low-carb and wheat free, my husband and I both realized that our allergies to cats and dogs have dramatically improved.

Previously, we had to take allergy medication when we were invited into a house with pets, and we would still get itchy eyes and congested lungs fairly quickly into the visit.

About 3 months into being wheat free, we noticed that our symptoms diminished in severity. We just spent a whole week in a house with a small dog, without taking any antihistamines, are we are fine !

Highest weight ever: 220 pounds. Followed the IP protocol from June to December 2012 and lost 58 pounds.

In Maintenance mode since January 2013. Have been able to maintain a lot of my weight loss, but regained about 20 pounds over 2 years

Time to take another run at "reducing"

I'm always glad when someone reports that weight loss was NOT the primary benefit because there are so many diseases that go away fairly quickly when giving up wheat and sugar. Obesity is a terrible problem to have but there are so many hideous diseases that we may not know about for a long time and they are already doing damage in our body.
I may never know for certain but my list may include cancer, hypothyroidism, diabetes, depression, hormonal imbalances and those are only the ones I know about.

Good for you! Funny you mention mood swings. My temper is sooo much more even when I'm eating on the plan. I had a wheat/sugar binge this weekend and Saturday night I was acting like a mean b***h. Plus I had headaches both yesterday and this morning. Back on the wagon for me!

Today marks one month since I started my wheat and grain free plan. My weight loss has not been phenomenal by any means, but steady - 5 pounds total.

What has been phenomenal is the litany of benefits that I've gained:
- more energy/less mood swings
- asthma has virtually disappeared-have only used rescue inhaler twice
- improved mental clarity
- improved bowel function/regularity (TMI?)
- Snoring reduced immensely, almost entirely
- sinus & nasal allergies improved
- arthritis symptoms & aches and pains nearly gone

I could go on. I'm 54 and feel better than I have in years, and I've enjoyed wine and chocolate (86%) almost everyday. Any plan that would exclude those 2 items is not for me, LOL.

Truly, nothing short of amazing.
