My advise (and I'm not expert)
Look at it as a life style change, NOT A DIET.
Love yourself and pay attention to the little things you are doing to change your life. Reward yourself for them.
Incorporate a new habit at the time, not matter how little it might seem is all going in the right direction.
Log your foods and your fitness. If you still having problems with your leg get fitness suggestions from the videos or the exercise demos, things you might be able to do without injuring yourself.
Good luck and ask for help if you need someone to cheer you up or motivate you.
emoticon

Make a choice to talk more about your blessing than your problems...more good things will come your way when you do!

Hello all! My name is Alena... I'm 33 and fully committed to losing weight and getting healthy!
I've also been on here before but really didn't use the resources at that time...
I've been divorced about a year and that 10 year chapter of my life left many emotional scars and I am recovering from the bad relationship I've had with food also!
I tore my Achilles' tendon about a year and a half ago and I still have ongoing issues with that leg... However, I'm committed to seeing this journey through!
I've been successful in all aspects of my life except weight and I am determined to succeed at overcoming!!
I've just started reading the Spark Solution book and am making positive changes in my life to make this a success!
Thank you all for this opportunity to share and I look forward to our journey together;)

Hello All,
This is Day 2 for me. I too am a "repeat" Sparker. I have to stick with it this time ! ! I am at a weight that borders on UNBELIEVABLE to me. When I hit 200, I told myself I had to not get any heavier, at 250, I was angry with myself, NOW at 275, I am scared ! ! I am in pain all the time. My knees and feet are screaming all the time. I have a history of heart disease and diabetes in my family. So, here it is! If I want to be around for years to come I need to get with the program. I am looking forward to the new friends that I know I will make here, and the new ME I am going to find here.

I'm in my 40's as well. I've just committed myself to running again and am amazed at how my fitness has fallen. Yesterday was humbling, it made me want to feed my new sneakers to the dog again :).

However, I do admit it felt great being active again, I felt that the little bit of exercise kept me energized all day long.

Headed to the gym in a few minutes, hopefully, I will do a bit better today.

I am also in my 40's and I too seem to hold on to the pounds more than I used to, even though my work is more active. Yay to us for getting on the road to being healthier people!

Hi everyone. My name is Stacey and I am trying to lose some weight. I have lost weight successfully in the past but have gained most of the weight back. I like to eat fat, salt and sugar and soda, soda, soda. I get cranky when I cant have these things.

I like to run but have not been making the time to do it. I make excuses.

I am looking forward to overcoming all of this but I know I wont be perfect. It look forward to sharing experiences along the way.

Hello :) I have decided its time to get serious and lose this weight. Have tried in the past but let it get the better of me. This year it will not do that. I have set a goal of wanting to walk my first walkathon by next June. I am trying to lose 134 lbs and I cant walk very far without having to take a break.

Welcome to SP and to our spark class team, Jane!

I'm so glad that you found us and that we are here for you. The SP story is a wonderful story, and what it has does to help so many others is even more wonderful.

Please make your spark page as soon as you can--it's an important part of community here at SP. Another thing that you will need to do is to make your own personal goals so that you can get what you need out of SP. It sounds pretty easy, doesn't it? SP makes the rest easy by giving you the tools and information to get there.

We're looking forward to getting to know you better. Thanks for finding our team page and getting started. If you need anything, please ask me or leave a question here on our team page.

Best wishes,
Sylvia

Hi, I'm Jane. Just found SparkPeople yesterday, still finding my way around. This is my first post (yay!).
Now that I'm in my 40's, it seems I need to pay a bit more attention to my health and fitness than I used to Middle-age spread is setting in, and I think I've got about 5 kg to lose to feel like me again. This site, and this community looks like exactly what I need to motivate me to change my habits. Looking forward to the journey...

Welcome everyone, you have just join the most elite website and if you just stick to it you will see results in many aspects of your life.
Start small, be patient with yourself, love yourself at where you are now.
Introduce one or two healthy habits to your week and then keep adding more before you know it you will be making smart choices in your meals and your exercises will get easier.
The most important thing I have found is the nutrition tracker.....I know, I know is hard at first to remember what you ate, or what you didn't plan to eat but ate it anyways.....but no matter what you ate write it down and then as time passes look at your reports, see what you are doing right and what you need to change. This was a big eye opener for me.
Good luck to all in your new journey!

Make a choice to talk more about your blessing than your problems...more good things will come your way when you do!

Hi everyone, good luck to all of you. Hopefully all of us can find the time each day to love our bodies, and achieve our goals. I've started waking up earlier each day to make the time to workout. It was tough at first, but I'm starting to get used to it. I've been at it for three weeks now, and have lost about five pounds. I used to use SP to track my daily caloric intake, and so it was an obvious choice to come back. Never used this community stuff before, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Welcome aboard, Pam, Ree, June, and all!

Whether you are new to SP or whether you are trying again, you are in the place that can help you to build new habits, reach your goals, and to be successful in more ways than you might imagine. It is unbelievable how things will go when you set goals, focus, have success in losing weight of exercising or giving up soda--and when you apply the same strategies to other areas of your life. You are heading to a wonderful place.

This site has a couple of great strengths--One is the information and trackers that set you up to build a healthy lifestyle and the other part is the community where you build relationships with others who will support you and cheer you on to success.

It starts with both creating your spark page to have as a home plate where others can communicate with you and in setting your first goals. Those two things will be the foundation to your success here and the beginning of a lot of good.

Please be sure to keep checking out our team page and asking questions so we can help you out in your early efforts. You can do this, I am a believer in SP and in those who make this first commitment.

Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Hi everyone!

I'm a SP newbie, I've browsed the site a few times before but nothing extensive. I'm still quite confused out here... hopefully I'll find out how things work soon enough!

My main goals are to maintain my current weight (or go a couple of kg's down) and tone my body, especially my lower body. But more importantly, I'm trying to follow a healthier and happier lifestyle - I used to do 0 hours of exercise a week for years until recently joined an awesome gym. Now I go on various Les Mills classes as well as the gym's own classes (like heat yoga and guided stretching) at least 5 hours a week. I've seen such a difference in my energy levels and am constantly looking forward to my next class! I'm also considering going on my first BodyPump lesson today... we'll see. :D

Welcome to all other new people as well! :)

I'm Lesley, and I officially joined SP in (I think) 2010. I did pretty well for a while, but then I got a little burned out (and got a new job) and quit logging in. Now I'm trying to get back on track, even though I'm not sure that I have my motivation and determination on board yet. I'm kind of hoping I can fake it until working out and eating right becomes a habit.
