Hi, my name is Patricia from Pearland,TX (south of Houston), I was very glad with my SP tracking device, so sorry it was discontinued. I just got a Fitbit Charge 2, I'm in the process of getting acquainted with it. A new device looks so difficult at the beginning for me, not a computer savvy at all. Glad to have met this group

New to this team but no stranger to SparkPeople. My name is Susan, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA. Have used a pedometer for many years, then upgraded to FitBit once it arrived in Canada. Lost FitBit on Sept 25 and have been tracker-less ever since. A wonderful Spark Friend has offered to pop hers into the mail this weekend. So grateful that people are willing to share once they upgrade. I do not have much extra weight to lose but use this site to remain active and improve healthy eating habits.

Hi my name is Paula I honestly go by Stress it is fitting believe me I am 53 years old *my body feels it* ... . I have 3 children ( 2 physically disabled adult kids 31 & 30 ) still living at home for their needs. And one teenager very soon to be 15 if he makes it there.. . I have been married for 36 years as of Wednesday. I have been a member of this group since I received my Spark Tracker when they first came out.

I live in Utah.. have all my life. Yes, the mountains are very pretty.

I am finally making it to get back on track after being gone for almost 2 years ..part of 2014 for me I had double knee replacement surgery in May of 2014 and had a rough time recovering due to extreme pain issues. And then about 3 months after being home my oldest son whom was born with Spina Bifida ended up with a small sore that turned into something worse from another source of infection Cellulitis. He ended up in a wound care clinic. Lets just say they went to far into his back and he spent a year on total bed confinement so we had to provide care from July 2014 -- January 2016. Long 2 years.. but now things are going better and I am back on track .. Excited to be a active part of this team again.

Hi I'm Karen from Wilton, Iowa. I just set up my spark people tracker today. I used to use a fitbit but it died and I had trouble with the new one I bought. I decided to get a spark tracker. It was much easier to set up then fitbit. I'm glad to have a working tracker again.

Hello.I am Chris from Richmond Virginia.

My daughter gave me her sparktracker and I have been using it for a few weeks. Love having it and it is fun to see how many steps I do.

I have noticed that the days I work the hardest (landscaping) are the days I have the least steps! Go figure! There is a lot of stopping standing digging, bending and the like, so I look at it as evening out. When I don't work hard, I need to get more steps. emoticon

I am losing 20 pounds 5 pounds at a time. emoticon

Hello. My name is Marilyn. I am 61 years old. I need to lose around 60 lbs, but my goal is to lose 10 pounds and be able to maintain that weight before setting a new weight loss goal. I have fitness and nutrition goals as well as sleep goals to help me reach my weight loss goal. I am excited to see how far I can go this year toward getting healthy.

Howdy from Dallas,TX! I got my tracker in the mail yesterday, and got it activated on home computer. Wore it last night at work. I guess once you activate it to home computer, you can't activate it to work computer too? That sucks, cause I am at work, more than I am at home, so my syncing is kinda wacky for me, because I work from 630pm to 7am, so my steps are counted on 2 different days, though for me it is one day. Anyhoo...new to Spark People, will hopefully get my profile adjusted, to more than my name. I wear usually one pair of shoes for work (Chung Shi) so I will keep my tracker on my shoe, and on days off, will have to remember to change it then. i am a single parent, though my son lives 3 hours from me. I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist for one of the Baylor Hospitals here in Dallas. I am a new empty nester, and have started cooking lessons....because I can burn a pan of water...ha ha. I have ALOT of wight to lose, and actually remembered to log on several times last night to add my meal/snacks/coffee, etc to my food/calorie counter. Geesh, I hope I continue on that good path. Anyway, it is 10am here, and I have got to get to bed, cause tonight is gonna be my Friday night! Hope ya'all have a great day!!! Rain has stopped here momentarily, so, gonna have to get my thunderstorm sound machine on....talk to ya later!

Good morning everyone. I'm not sure how to "join" this team but I finally figured out how to use my tracker this morning. I've had it about six months and feel really stupid. I was trying to connect the actual tool to my computer instead of the computer adapter. I think I almost broke both parts. I am hoping its easy for me to use and update my progress. I'm doing really well. I've gone from 270 since summer started to 235 as my current weight. I'm hoping this will help me see the progress I am making daily, as well as show me days I've been lazy so I can make positive changes.

Good morning! I'm new to this team - I actually bought my tracker about two years ago, but finally got it all set up and working today. :) Good thing it came with an extra battery. The first one had died already. :)

I've been on (and off) SparkPeople for a few years, and recently my scale is reminding me that I need to make some changes... so, here I am! :)

I live in Northern IL with my husband and three kids (almost 18 yrs old, 13 yrs old, and almost 12 yrs old). I work as an Executive Assistant, and have been with this company for nearly 23 years.

Here's wishing us all a Happy Wednesday! I'll check back again soon!

Take care,

Kelli

Hi All.. I got my spark tracker and activated it on 7/9/2015. It still is NOT tracking correctly ..I also wear a pedometer both on the left foot, My pedometer is saying a couple of thousand MORE steps than my tracker on a daily basis.. Yesterday 8/6 my tracker did not post my later in the day walk workout just the morning workout. My pedometer said over 8000.. I was getting tired of the discrepancy, but thought I'll notify you one more time to see if something can be done.. You will notice the tracker says one amount and something totally different on my goal page.. What's up with that. Please let me know what can be done to fix this continual problem before I have to de activate this tracker.
Thanks so much..:)

Hello my name is Ann. I am from the Sunshine state of Florida. I am beginning my journey to get fit and stay fit. As I get older I realize I want to be able to stay mobile and want to have a healthy lifestyle so I can enjoy my life and my family. When I got my tracker it made a big difference in my life. I love that it motivates you to move more and when those lights start blinking it just make me smile. I am on my way to a healthier me. I am grateful for Spark people. My wife surprised me with a tracker on Father's day. I've lost 50 lbs since Feb just by tracking food and exercise here on SP. I started at 280 and have been stuck at 230 for a month now. I am trying to get to 200 by my birthday in October and I am hoping this will help keep me motivated! =D

EDIT: Never mind the statements and question below, apparently I just had to have a little patience. lol. The workout minutes and calories from my walk did show up, just took a little bit longer than the steps for some reason. But at least now I know what to expect! =)

--- vvv Ignore this vvv ---
I do have a question already though...

I try to walk a mile twice a day during the week. It takes me 18 minutes to do so and I track this under the exercise option as "Walking: 3.3 mph (18 minutes)" and I put 18 minutes as the duration. I just walked my first mile with the tracker on and I see that it has updated with the steps and mile walked, but it does not show any exercise minutes or exercise calories. I walked non-stop for 18 minutes, doesn't that meet the 10 minutes of continuous movement qualification?

So, my question is should I go ahead and continue using the manual tracking of exercise for my walks, or is there something I need to do to get the SPAT to track this correctly?
--- ^^^ Ignore this ^^^ ---

I'm right there with you about finding that Spark again. I got my SPAT about 2 weeks ago and have been a lot more active since! I think it's going to make a real difference. You may want to join the "June 100,000 steps challenge" once you get that battery.

Hi everyone. I'm Sherry, new to this team, trying to find my spark again after a long absence. I liked my SPAT before, but now it needs a new battery (which I will get tomorrow morning) - and then I guess I need more guidance or goals or motivation or something to make better use of it. Hoping to find that here! emoticon Look forward to visiting with you all.

Got my tracker today, so stoked!
I had a Nike Fuel Band for about 6 months, but do not wear it ever. It wasn't counting my steps on a stepper or treadmill very good.

I'm all about accountability and being able to see what accomplishments I've done during the day. I'm looking forward with the ability to track workouts etc.

I got my tracker in t he mail yesterday. I set it up and I used it this morning while doing 20 minutes on my recumbent bike. I haven't been doing exercise so I'm hoping that the lights, the automatic logging, etc will be motivation for me.

Hi! I got my SPAT on April 24th and am loving it. Still need to input some things manually in terms of workouts, but the step tracking is great! Just put the tracker on my shoe in the morning and remember to change it over if I change shoes.

My name is Kathleen and I retired to the central Texas Hill Country to live near my son.

Hi I'm D.J. and have been wondering if I also made a mistake, only because it has taken me so long to get it set up and ate over the whole experience. Then the fact that I can't get out and exercise as well. I have a lot of problems due to pain and in and out of wheelchair, but keep on trying. I know I am not going to send it back and will keep on keeping on. I am going to try my best whatever that will be. I only have 16 steps for my first three days, but I think our team will, or can give us some advise on what to do. Hang in there Henry

Hello, I am new to this team, and also new to exercising! I am doing The PLAN, by Lyn-Genet Recitas, and have been in the stages of no-exercise, and am just ready to begin introducing it slowly. I ordered the Spark Tracker because I thought it would make things easier. I have some learning to do before I try to begin on Monday. I think I am going to do the Diabetes Weight Loss Challenge to get started. So, if my numbers seem low to you, it is on purpose. Too much exercise will throw off my diet testing. And maybe I can gradually increase my exercise without ruining my food testing results. Glad to be a part of this team! I am over 60, and have 45 pounds to lose.

Hello Kay and Lee Ann. I just got mine as well. I will be a little slow getting started as I am having back problems with both of my sciatic nerves and will go Monday for an MRI. Hopefully the Dr. will know what to do to lessen the pain so I can get back to my walking and exercising. I have mine all set up and ready to go, and trying to get used to putting it on each day.

Hi everyone! My name is Sharon alias Sunshine_angel1. I just got my tracker today and have downloaded everything. It will probably take me a few days to get used to using it right, but at least now I can get started. Another situation that I am going through right now is that I am having some serious pain in both of my sciatic nerves so I have to take the movement slower than I am used to for a while. I do not plan to let that hold me down permanently though. I am supposed to have an MRI sometime in the next week or two and go from there as far as treatment. I have been going to PT, but that has not helped much up to now. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully be an encouragement!

Hi Spark Trackers! My name is Mike and my tracker showed up Monday of this week. Installed the tracker right away.

I love the way it automatically tracks my morning walks around the oval track. It's a huge time saver from constantly entering my walks in manually. After the first day wearing the tracker I was actually surprised by how inactive my normal day is. Well that ignited a "Spark" to get me moving more each day. It took me four days before I finally completed my first 6k step day.

As Lisa said in her post, the tracker is a real motivator. When I'm out and about during the day, I try to park further away from store entrances just so I can add steps towards my 6k goal. That NEVER would happen before. Sounds silly when I think about it. Such a small device and I'm a slave to it already.

Happy Tracking everyone!

Hi everyone, my name is Lisa and I am from Indiana. I received my tracker a couple weeks ago and activated it right away. I love it when all the lights lite up when I have reached my goal. I actually get giggly when I see it. Motivation has always been a big problem with me, so when I got the SAT I didn't know how well I would do. I have found that having the SAT is very motivating for me. I like the trophies I get everyday and I get very excited when I reach my goal, and on the other hand I get upset when I don't reach my goal. That tells me that the SAT is working for my motivation.

Hi, my name is Donna and I am from Minnesota. I have been pretty inactive for the last 8 years due to bad knees and hip. I feel ready to give it my all to lose 50 pounds. I received my tracker a few days ago and am excited to see how many steps I actually take in a day. I know that wearing it will push me to do my Walk Away the Pounds dvd's to get moving more.

Hi everyone. My name is Karen. I received my Activity tracker on Monday. I finally put it to use yesterday. With the activity tracker on, I walked 9752 steps. 43 minutes were counted as workout minutes, which was about accurate. It doesn't have to be absolutely perfect for me. I am a nurse and I am very goal oriented and motivated when it comes to my career; however, when it comes to my physical fitness, I am not motivated at all, even though, I know all too well the health issues that I will soon face if I don't do something, I am hoping the SAT will be the motivation that I need. I also use a Polar heart rate monitor while I am at the gym. I am hopeful!

You can do upper body exercises to get you started.. that along with diet will give you great results.. there are some people on here who have lost an incredible amount of weight all starting off with just one step at a time...
I wish you the best.. I know when your mind is set and you are ready you will rock this!!!!!

I have a boy that is 21 too... such a joy and a worry... LOL the parenting never stops.. I have to say the only reason I worry is when I don't see him.. Its a 'Parent' thing.

Hi my name is Tony from Halifax, NS Canada and I am a 51 year old father of 1 child, a 21 yr old son. I found out 11 years ago that I am a Type II diabetic but truth be told I never took the disease seriously enough. Today I suffer from so many complications from having diabetes. I received my tracker in the mail about a week ago. I have not begun to use it. I feel that my frame of 621 lbs prevents me doing much or is that just an excuse? I leaning toward the latter!

I've been walking for a couple of months but never really knew how much. It's very encouraging to know how hard you are really working. Before when my feet hurt I wasn't really sure if I had covered enough distance. I split my walks up to be able to get the distance and time. My puppy has sure been enjoying the exercise, especially now that the weather has warmed up.

Hi! I'm Sue. I've been a member of SparkPeople for as long as I've been a grandmother! More fit today than in my whole life. Just received my Spark Activity Tracker tonight and logged in more than 4,200 steps and 1.9 miles (!), some walking my dogs, some rebounding (mini trampoline). This is too fun. I ordered one for my daughter to give her on Mother's Day, since she introduced me to SparkPeople in 2009. I am grateful to SparkPeople for staying current and making technology work for this community.

Hi everyone! My husband got me the SPAT for Valentine's Day, but I couldn't wait to open it and set it up.
I have cut out using the elevator at work and school, but haven't had a way to track using the stairs all day. I'm excited to be able to track everything I'm doing.
(This may be encouragement for me to do more housework too!)

emoticon everyone! I am not new to Spark People, but I am near the halfway mark to my goal, so I rewarded myself by getting the SPAT! Tried it today and had a few hiccups but Tech Support was WONDERFUL and solved my problems getting it to record my activities today CORRECTLY! It kept better track when I put it clipped to my shoe, snugged with the laces, and I lowered my goal to 5000 steps instead of the 6000 I was given. I am very happy with this little "gizmo" so far! I am looking forward to getting to know others on the team! My main activity is WALKING, due to vertigo and other issues that keep me from being able to use exercise machines. I am in WW, but I only track food points with the WW site, which is often down with tech problems. I like to blog and SP makes it so easy!! emoticon emoticon Thanks, Spark People!

Hello! I just got my Spark tracker today. Went out and took my regular 90 minute walk and found out I was walking almost 5 miles! Whew! Still have more exercises to go. I'm looking forward to the motivation this will give me on my weight loss journey.

The Lord is my joy and my strength.

For my first day wearing the Tracker I walked 5,900 steps and according to it that is 2.5 miles. Not a bad average work day for me. We shall see how it goes over the next week before I increase my goal to 6,000 steps. I set it for 5,000, as I have not been that active and wish to slowly return to higher activity levels.

I ordered my Activity Tracker last Friday the 16th. I received it at 3:30 pm today. Even with a three day weekend that is a pretty good turn around, in my opinion.

I wanted to put the little tracker symbol on, (the one that said I ordered it) but I couldn't find out how to do it. I have it hooked up to my computer. now to go walk and see what it tells me.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Cheri and I bought myself the spark activity tracker for Christmas as well. I have been using a fitbit for over a year and I really like it. However, the spark tracker offered other exercises that the fitbit didn't track like my treadmill. elliptical trainer, and my recumbent bike. I am just getting started with it so I'm still learning but so far I like it! emoticon
