Just got started last week. Due to a family emergency I had to cut out all unnecessary costs and switch to a calorie/fitness tracker that's free. But rather than experience a sad loss of my old program, I'm really enjoying doing the tracking here on SparkPeople. The points system adds a little light-weight (so-to-speak) fun and keeps me coming back. And it's great to see all the supportive communications going on on the site.

LEST6449 - There is a separate class team for each week of new membership. However, it is up to you if you want to switch from this team to the one that actually covers your join date. Feel free to stay here with us or go check out the other team. It is completely up to you. These class teams are really just meant to help with any early questions new members have and to give you a place where you might interact with others who are also new. Either way, we all wish you the best!

Hi, I'm Carolyn. I joined on the 10th, but I am just now beginning to log meals and activity. I just finished a cardio class last week and found out I lost 5 pounds during the 16 weeks of class. It's better than nothing, I guess. I need something to keep me on track with fitness and nutrition and this web site seems to have great tools for that.

Hi, I'm Denise
I joined because I'm 5 ft tall and overweight. A few years ago I lost 60 pounds but gained 40+ back so I'm trying again. I started 2 months ago and lost 15 pounds so far. My goal is 120. Wish me luck and thanks.

Hi everyone! I'm Cathie, Im 20 and a college student. I joined SP because in the course of a year and a half at school I gained 40 pounds! So much for the Freshmen 15! I am really excited to be a part of this team because I have never really had the support system that everyone talks about being so good! I'm looking to lose about 50 pounds by August, which I know is ambitious, bit there is a wedding I want to go to and look good at! Really looking forward to being able to lean on everyone, get advice, and work hard so the pounds will go away!

Hi everyone, I'm Everdancer!

I previously lost about 35 lbs on Sparkpeople, but the continual stress of starting college, finals weeks, and the not-so-great influence of social eating of bad foods has made me gain back about 15 of those lbs. So I've deleted my previous account and am ready to start afresh! This time I'm determined to get to 150 in a year's time.

Please don't hesitate to add me as a friend! We all can use as much help as we can get. emoticon

Hi. I'm TryagainThenWin

I rerecently discovered this site. 😉 I am so excited for all the features! I tried writing my story over and over but it was too long, soo here's quick:

I'm Sarah, and I've never been a "posty" person. I am trying to change that. I believe I need to be more open to find the encouragement and motivation I need. I lost a significant amount of weight and have been able to keep most of it off for about a year. Now I am stuck, and I'm finding it much easier to move backward than forward. Part of my problem is that my initial weight loss was not on purpose, however it was healthy. This past spring I changed my diet to reflect more of a paleo standard, and again I had success. After a trip this summer where I spent 2 wekeks away from home and on the road, I went back to eating whatever I want. Not good! I'm a stay at home mom, and I can't seem to find the time to get back on track. I'm frustrated, but I need to do this. I know I can. I'm hoping that usong SparkPeople will help motivate me and keep me in check. :)

Hello everyone,

I am brand new to SparkPeople so I am hoping this forum will help me. I previously used Weight Watchers, but I only really used the online tools and there was not enough motivational tools for me to keep at my diet, plus the cost got to be too much.

Right now I am trying to lose weight for my wedding which is in May next year. It'll be in Mexico, so I want to be fit and look good in a bikini! My goal is to lose 20 pounds by February/March when I'll be dress shopping, and hopefully some more toning by the wedding.

I have gained about 15 pounds over the last couple years since I have been working and going to grad school fulltime. I'd like to lose this extra weight and get toned! Currently I'm at 160 and my goal weight is to be around 130-135, or a size 6. My main issue is I make bad decisions in eating when I am under high stress such as finals, or I stop going to the gym altogether during that time. It also takes me a long time to get myself motivated to go back to the gym.

What I'm hoping to gain from this community is ideas for meals (I cook for me and my fiance for dinner, but I need fast/easy recipes!), and also workout tips to lose weight fast without spending a long time at the gym. The key is time constraints and keeping myself motivated over long periods of time.

My name is Ashley and I have been married since January. Since I met my husband 2 1/2 years ago I have gained 95lbs and I would like to lose a total of 120lbs. I would love to get back down to that weight so i could actually be smaller than my husband! I am a very confident person, but it is affecting my health. I have PCOS and sleep apnea. My family has a history of diabetes, heart disease, cancer and everything else so I am at high risk just being overweight, but I am afraid things are getting out of hand. So here's to being healthy and fit while I am young so I can actually get old :)

Hi, I am a return member to Sparkpeople. I have reached my goals in the past. However, in the past several years, and two additional children, I have packed on the pounds. I'm back with a strong will to persevere, but a great lack of desire to workout. I find eating healthier easier than working out, so my greatest goal is to find a routine that I can get "addicted" to.

Nice to meet everyone, here's to losing weight together!!!

Hello all. My name is Trisha. I am about to turn 30 in 3 days and I am located in Belle Plaine, IA. I actually joined this site as a requirement for one of my college courses, but I feel I will benefit greatly from it. Before I found this site I began working out to boost my self esteem, then stress took over and I began losing weight in an unhealthy way. Now, I look to continue the weight loss, lose the stress, and eat as healthy as I can. It is my goal to look like a new person when I go on vacation to see my brother this summer! I look forward to seeing how much the site and the people on it can help me with achieving my goals!

Hello All!

My name is Dora, I am 32 and from Snohomish, Washington. I have over 100 pounds to lose - and that is a scary thought! I have a lot of work to do!

I was on Sparkpeople before and got ALMOST to my goal weight, so I know I am capable of doing this. Previously "life" kept happening, I returned to school to finish my degree, and there was a lot of stress eating involved. Now my goal is to get to a healthy weight and fitness level before my husband and I start trying to get pregnant.

Starting out I am trying to eat clean *most* of the time and get to the gym for 60 minutes a day 5 days per week. Eventually I want to start incorporating weights and yoga and running, the "Couch to 5K" program worked for me in the past and hopefully it will again.

~Dora~

Hi folks. This is a third attempt at sticking with SP. I've had a ton of changes over the last few years (got married, moved countries, quit my job and completely changed fields) and it has been very difficult to focus on eating right and moving more, but enough of the excuses. I was thinking about doing this all in the New Year but then I didn't see a reason to procrastinate; even if I do cheat at Christmas, every single day I eat right and exercise is a good day! I found my old BodyMedia Fit Armband and have that firmly strapped to my arm, and hubby is even willing to help/join in, and is foregoing his usual unhealthy foods in favour of filling the fridge with stuff that's good for us. This time we'll get it right.

It's good to be back on SP - an amazing motivational tool!

I can't even count how many times I have lost weight then gained it back. It was my bad habits that caused the multiple set backs. I am here to try to get rid of those habits for good. I want to be fit forever!

Hi. I am determined. Im also a lot shy and quiet. I was going to wait till after Christmas to start my diet but fate landed me here and I think it will be a good fit. I am terrible at routines and I need to work on eating healthier. I havent exercized in so long I am out of breath when I hit the top stair in my house. Ugh. I never wanted to be this size and I cant believe that I am here. Boy it was good to get that off my chest. So, Here I am. And my name is Alicia btw.

Hi!

My name is Kristy and I'm from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada :)
I've been overweight my whole life and done pretty much every diet plan out there, starting at the tender age of 9 with Herbalife (anyone remember those shakes and pills?) But I'm determined that 2014 will be MY year! I have FOUR weddings to attend this year and I am determined NOT to hate every picture of myself :)

I am a married mom of three teenagers (17, 14, 13) and I am currently off work with medical problems (not related to weight), but I am not going to let that stop me from getting healthier. Though I can't exercise quite yet, I can eat healthy, so that's what I am focusing on until I get the okay from the doctor to start exercising.

I am so looking forward to the support that I think this site can provide and hope to connect with many of you!

Hi everyone!
My name is Mary and I'm an almost 29-year old bride-to-be! On April 5, 2014 I will marry my fiance Drew in Fort Worth, TX :).

I have used SparkPeople in the past to help me lose a few pounds, but now I'm back because as my wedding quickly approaches, I have reached my highest weight ever! I have 20-25 lbs to lose to feel my best on my wedding day (and my honeymoon!), and I know SparkPeople can help me do it.

In addition to wedding planning, I am currently in the late stages of training for a December 31 half-marathon with some girlfriends. I want to add strength training and proper eating to my training to help me maximize my performance and my weight loss, and I know the Spark Community will also be a huge help :).

My name is Annie and I'm pretty pleased about being back on Spark. It's been over a year since I was on here. I loved it first time around so looking forward to connecting in with others again on this journey of ours!

I've just come out of a bit of a tough time but am feeling more and more focussed as each day goes by so feel like this is the right time for me to return! I have my lovely husband to thank who has set us the challenge of exercising each day for the next 30 days to get us started.... We've found that if we don't exercise each day there's always a reason not to. So here's to making changes!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all - let's keep in touch!

Hi I joined this week and plan to use the exercise section to get fit so I can go outside and play more. I have about 5 kg left to lose, recently lost 34 kg and went from being in the obese to the healthy weight section for the BMI tables.

Hi there!
My name is Kirsta, and I'm actually coming back to SparkPeople. I was doing very well with my goals, and then my work situation changed. The change is for the better, but for the past couple of years, I haven't had much time or energy for very much at all. My health is starting to reflect that, and my weight has crept back up. I decided today that enough is enough, and here I am. I'm not only working on improving my health, but on taking control of my life.
My eating habits aren't bad - but they could be better. My exercise habits - that's where I really need to improve. I am determined to regain the person I know I am! I'm really looking forward to positive changes in my life - and in all of yours. I'm pretty darn sure we are going to rock this!

Hey there!
My name is Amy and I can't believe I am posting this. Haha! I have never made a new years resolution before...but with 2014 I have. It is time for me to get healthy. I have a 9 month old perfect little baby boy. I want him to have a healthy mom. I don't want him to think that eating fast food and junk food all the time is normal. I HAVE to change so that he has a healthy life. My husband and I are both making a change. Our family is getting healthy!
I don't want to fail at a new year's resolution....so I am starting NOW. :) Getting a head start!
I grew up in a household that had a big homecooked meal every evening, junk food everywhere, and not very active. Around 8th grade I saw a pic of myself and for the first time thought I looked chubby. It has been all downhill from there. I am SUPER addicted to sweets. That is my biggest struggle. If I can overcome that, I can do this! And I believe I can. I am excited to have this group to lean on. I know we will all help each other out.
We totally got this y'all! :)

emoticon Julie and Happy Birthday! I think it's great that you will be learning a healthier lifestyle along with your daughter. What a great way to support each other, and teach all the children by your example. Do you know about SparkTeens? You might want to check it out to see if it is something you think might benefit your daughter.

Hi! My name is Julie and I turned 33 today. I have made a birthday promise to myself that I will change my habits from the current unhealthy ways to become healthier and fit by my next birthday. I am married to a wonderful man who is totally supportive of my new goals and wants to help any way he can. My 5 beautiful children are half of my motivation and I want to show them that healthy can taste good and there is more to life than the pizza and chicken nuggets they love (well 3 of them at least!). My oldest daughter is 13 and unfortunately, and I blame myself for this, has followed in this bad eating cycle and will be joining me on my journey to getting healthy. She is 90lbs overweight for her age as well. I am at my heaviest ever at this point weighing 260.1lbs. I have a long way to go but refuse to live this regret any longer!
My long-term goal includes losing 115lbs within the next year. Shorter goals include beginning to exercise starting tomorrow with my daughter and starting to drink 8 glasses of H2O daily. I also plan to start tracking my food tomorrow. Those are my goals for this week. I am not perfect and know I will have bad days, but hope to use SparkPeople as one of my reminders to not give up!

emoticon SUNNYXS4! You are so right about it helping to stick around to help maintain your weight once you reach goal. You can get there again and keep it off this time!

emoticon Hello, I joined spark one day early to be put in this class but I joined since I am starting my new program today.

Spark helped me lose 80 pounds, then I left, gained 60 back, came and lost it, left and am back having gained almost 40...I need to lose the weight and stick around to learn to keep it off!! I have a lung problem and diabetes that gives me extra challenges, but I know I can win those challenges.

My Husband and I have been married 32 years, we have a wonderful Son and beautiful DIL plus a mixed-breed dog that rules the house! I really hope to make Sparkpeople home!
