It looks like no 20 day challenge or challenge list, told months ago have intolerance to many foods, 54 years old, mild chronic kidney disease, problems with kidneys & bowels work too easily without warning. I find if I drink a jug of water with apple cider vinegar in it, about 4 tablespoons in it along with 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice added to it & drink daily, my kidneys work normal, if I do not have it for 4 hours, my kidneys start with no warning. I am getting hair testing done for 100 foods regarding possible allergies, at least more tests then blood labs do, it cost me $60.00 & a diet is provided after testing.

I have really been struggling with healthy after getting an LPR diagnosis last year. Not only do I have tummy troubles from it, but I also have a real hard time finding healthy things to eat that I want to eat. It is amazing how many "healthy" foods are extremely acidic. I hope there will be some advise or good ideas I can get from being a part of this challenge.

Hi, I am Sandy and I am new in here. I am doing some heavy metal detoxing right now and I know I should be making my gut a healthier place too. I forget to do things like the vinegar to get me healthier. I am looking for support and help as I find my way on this path to healthy living both in exercise and nutrition as well as spiritually, emotionally and making my home a healthier place in which to be and enjoy.

Hi guys!

I've just joined sparkpeople today. I used to do the pilates videos provided on youtube which had helped me loose a lot of weight. Now that its back with a vengeance, I've finally decided to go about it intelligently. However I'm so non tech that I feel like I'm going in circles, but I have to say the site's very helpful! It's already started to keep me in check.

Good luck all!

Hi, Nola here. Been on SP since July 2014. I've lost nearly 37 pounds so far and would like to lose another 10 to 12. My ultimate goal is 120 to 125 #. I have had some abdominal problems over the past 7 months and my "gut" has just recently become somewhat normal. I still have some sort of digestion problems. I am seeing a gastroenterologist! Started this team to get some extra information! Hoping that between the two I can get things resolved. I love SP and all the new SparkFriends I have met!

Hi there!
I just joined this team, I have been on Spark for years now and love it.
I recently had a conversation with some friends and realized not everyone has tummy issues. I'm hoping to learn more about my digestive health and start feeling better.

Hi everyone! I'm Emily. I'm trying to eat healthier, eat more slowly, and eat better foods for my digestive system. I've noticed that I get heartburn, bloating, and (shh!) gas pretty often now because my diet has been a wreck. I hope that the digestive detox will help me get back on track!

Hello! My name is Judy. I've lost weight in the pas (about 50 pounds) and I've gained about 40 of it back between college stress and (TMI alert maybe) birth control that has caused me to gain weight as a side affect. I want to get back to 150 from 190 where I am now. Lately I've been eating like crap so I think the first step will be to detox the body in addition to diet and exercise.

Hello, just joined the team. For about a year I have been getting horrible pains in my stomach when I eat certain kinds of foods, which is then followed by a long day of heartburn. I have never had this problem before and am slowly figuring out which kinds of foods are causing this, (mainly foods high in sugar, carbs, and grease.) So I made the choice to go to a vegetarian diet, which has helped tremendously. I joined this team so I can get a better understanding on digestion and what is good and bad for my bodies natural digestion.

Hello Marla,

Welcome. I'm only on day 3. Yesterday I took the digestive system quiz and got 50%! I thought I knew all about this stuff, but it looks like I don't!!!

I hope you can get relief from your Gastro problems through this program. I'm sure looking for it. Congratulations on your promotion and house purchase. That must feel great to be acknowledged for your performance at work.

I don't work, I stay at home mom and wife and am often jealous of those who do.

Wishing you all the best, Julie

Hi Everyone. My name is Marla and I am back on SparkPeople after a year hiatus...I recently relocated to Columbus for a promotion and purchased a new home. Unfortunately, my fitness and health took a back seat during this time of transition as did my stomach health. I am joining this team to keep me motivated to continue to look at good health as a holistic journey ---not simply numbers on the scale. I have dealt with digestive/stomach issues off and on since undergrad. I am looking forward to learning how to be kind to my tummy through nutrition, stress reduction and good overall health. Good luck everyone.. .hope you enjoy your journey as well.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE GREAT TO START, BUT YOU HAVE TO START TO BE GREAT!!!

I'm Kymberly and I was training for fitness competitions last year until I got pregnant. Now I'm still 10 pounds away from my pre pregnancy weight and double my pre pregnancy body fat %. Most of that is in my stomach. I know I need a detox to help with the bloat and this seems to fit the bill.

Welcome, Marie.
I'm not the best person to reply, but maybe others will add their thoughts.
For now, I'd start slowly, as any drastic modifications in diet does not sit well with the digestive tract. I know this for a fact (although in my case it wasn't a healthy change, but a terrible calorious one on a cruise earlier this month. I never have problems with constipation but I had a horrible bout of it onboard)
Gradually, I would make your diet higher in fiber and lower in fat. Again I am not the expert, as you can see by my turtle ticker. but I do know what I should do and what I'm trying to do.
Another thing is to try those carbs which have multiple things in their favor, like quinoa. I never thought I'd like quinoa for breakfast, but with raisins and nuts in it, it's a great start to the day because it's also adding protein.
Salads with garbanzo beans in it and maybe craisins or diced apple are great too. Maybe apples may be too gassy but other fruits would work also.
Schiff's digestive advantage gummies are also a real plus. Only 20 calories and up to 10 times more useful probiotics than yogurt.
Anyone else add something?

Hi my name is Marie,
I have just rejoined today after almost 2 years. I found your forum and I am hoping that it will help me not only with motivation but sorting out my stomach issues... probably all dietary. I know that my digestive system is not happy at all. I'm glad to be here and if anyone has any suggestions as to what should be my first step in soothing my tummy troubles I would be grateful!
Thanks.

Welcome, everyone.
I have never heard of Jules, as a source for gluten free flour. I will look it up. Thank you for the suggestion. Gluten free things are so expensive. I can't believe rice or potato flour is so much more expensive to make than wheat flour; just different. It shouldn't be 3 times the price, but they've got a corner on the market and can charge whatever they want. I usually buy I think Bob's red Mill, or something close to that name. Haven't found any other brand so they can charge whatever they want.

I have very low levels of Vitamin D. My doctor told me it wouldn't be a bad idea to skip all gluten products as long as I was already cooking that way for my son. She said one of the symptoms of gluten intolerance is low D. She said I probably have one gene for it so I'm partially sensitive. When I cut it out entirely, I don't get as tired. That's another symptom.
The last two weeks, Aldi's has had a whole line of gluten free food. I wish they'd stock it all the time instead of just as a special, because the price was half what the regular grocery stores charge (our main store here is Wegmans. Most people haven't heard of Wegmans).

I need to be very careful with dairy and bread. I eat some, if one bite to much then I'm doubled up in screaming pain. Its just one more obstacle to deal with.

I have heard that the longer the cheese is aged, the less lactose is left. Extra sharp cheddar would have the least lactose, as would real romano and parmesan that is aged as long as two years.
I can't see how you can tolerate sourdough bread. Unless the milk part is your main problem. In my house, even if something is processed on the same equipment as that used for wheat products, my son gets very sick. He has gluten intolerance/ non celiac also. And it's not a placebo effect. He doesn't know what I've used to make dinner. But he can tell every time.

Hi! I actually joined this challenge a while back, but life happened and I never got the chance to introduce myself or even read any of the emails. How sad is that?

So... a little about me... my name is Audrey. I'm 29yo, married, and have 2 daughters (3 years and 7 months). I don't eat like I should, or even like I want to. I much prefer a healthier diet than I have, but due to the unfortunate circumstances of living with my grandfather, I don't get the opportunity to. He won't eat "my food" and so I'm stuck eating his. I've been pushing to get either a deep freeze or a larger refrigerator so I can actually stock healthy foods, but he keeps giving me the kibosh. During the summer and early fall is easy enough, because we have a pretty large vegetable garden, which sadly, I also don't get a say in what is grown there (Do we really need 20+ tomato plants?). I meet with challenges like having refrigerator filled with spoiling food because to throw them out would be wasteful, not having enough pantry space for anything but his sweets and sodium ladled condensed soups and spam, and a freezer full to the brim with ice cream (because who doesn't need 4 cartons of ice cream at all times?).

So, anyway, sorry for that rant... obviously the whole situation gives me mental anguish. But I digress...

I want to be healthier so that I can really enjoy spending time with my kids. I'd like to be able to keep up with them, and be strong enough to take care of them. I have about 50 or so more pounds to lose to reach my "healthy" weight. I am dealing with issues like gallstones, herniated disks, and a vitamin D deficiency. Also with severe anxiety, and bipolar disorder, and the medications to manage them (hooray for "side effects may include weight gain").

I have been making some great progress since having my second daughter. I'm down 44 pounds, but also developed the gallbladder issues since then.

Right now, I am hoping that this challenge gets my butt back in gear from where it's been and into a healthier eating habit.

By Letchworth. That's a lovely area.
i'm sorry you had that bad reaction to the cholesterol med. I hate taking meds too, but need several to keep me going. I have periodic blood tests.
I have started to gain some of the weight I lost back. that is just so frustrating because it's so hard to lose it the first time, I hate to do it over and over again. I have bad acid reflux, which makes it hard to eat a lot of things. And if I get upset, then the acid gets out of control, even with protonix. I had a bad experience with a very rude appliance repairman this week. He just yelled at me for everything including not getting the last drop of water out of the washing machine (I did the best I could) and letting something small get sucked under the agitator which lodged in the water pump and burned it out. I asked him about a longer cord for the dryer and he said if he knew I was going to ask him anything else he would have refused to come that day. I paid him a lot of money to fix those things. He had me in tears. And whenever i get upset, I internalize it to my stomach. I eat more and I get esophageal spasms which make me choke. I have been so upset. I will never call that repairman again, but what doe he care? He probably forgot all about it by the time he got to his next house.

Good for you, losing 10 pounds. Its so hard after a certain age (which I passed a long time ago)
I also bought a bottle of probiotics. I can't eat yogurt and I read somewhere that you can't be sure they have the good bacteria we need anyhow. Let me know if it works for you. I just started taking it myself today.

Hi everyone! My name is June and I live in Chesapeake, VA. I am starting a new plan of eating this Friday which will be monitored by a doctor and I have been having some tummy troubles the past several months. I do take TruBiotics by Bayer with the good bacteria which has really helped as when I looked at many yogurts in the grocery store they are missing the good bacteria. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and hoping to improve my digestive track! emoticon emoticon

I was going through the articles I came across this one, it caught my attention. I have been having issues with this one too. So here's to learning what I can do to tame the tummy beast?

hey howdy

I've had yo-yo tummy for quite some time and its aggravating. part of it is not enough water and I've just recently gotten back on track with that, but I still have issues with my stomach I'm working around. I'm glad this is here and maybe i'll be able to not let my stomach dictate terms so often because I'm feeling much better.

Welcome. I hope we can all help each other. Would you tell me what you've found that works and what hasn't? That would help me. i've found when I eat spicy things, I get esophageal spasms. Scary things. Losing weight would help me I know, because when I sit I'm sure my tummy presses against my full stomach, but as I got older keeping weight off has been a lot harder.

Hi
Just getting started here and saw this challenge. I have been dealing with "tummy troubles" for along time, but they got intense over the last year...really affecting my life. I hope this challenge give me some information and some push to keep going despite my tummy troubles feeling like they want to make me stop all the time.

Spring time makes me feel like everything is fresh and new again. I like the idea of eating lighter.
Hoping to stay on track with fresh salads this weekend!! I find bitter greens like arugula, chickory and dandelion help with my digestive issues.

I haven't been able to check in on Good Belly even though we are supposed to be able to get it in the US. So Just knowing i have other people who have the same goals is helping me. I just don't get credit for it. Does Yogurt help your stomach cramps?

Hi everyone,
I've been on sparkpeople for a while, but have had a hiatus of about 6 months. I'm recovering from gallbladder surgery and thought this challenge might help adjust my diet and take care of some of the stomach cramping I've been getting. I can't get Good Belly in the UK, so I'll start in a couple of days when I can get hold of some other probiotics.

Hi, I'm Tonya. I've been on Spark people on and off for 2 years
At this point, I've gotten my fitness back in a routine after an accident keeping me off my feet for 4 months. I;m working on the healthy diet. I received a juicer as a Christmas gift, and have just completed a 30 day juice challenge, now I'm looking to start a new one that deals with my diet. I have continual constipation, and bloating issues. I thought this challenge might help out.

This is day 1 for me

sorry Dahlia .... I have no idea as the Spring BLC doesn't earn SparkPoints & I'm also clueless as to how to get points for doing this either.

This particular challenge WAS in my SparkPoints page but now it isn't ~ I think it may have been removed on the 1st of March. The only reason I found this team is that I did a Search for it and then clicked on the link to bring me to this team. Maybe when I check my email there will be directions there as to how to get points.
