Hi All,
I joined the Challenge yesterday. This is my second day. So far so good. I previously reached my weight loss goal in June of 2018. I lost 45 pounds in three and a half years. It takes longer to lose weight in menopause. I am 68 - will be 69 in March of 2020.

I would like to lose five or six pounds by April 4th when I begin a Caribbean cruise. I want to lose these pounds anyway as I think it will be good for my health. The cruise is just an incentive. I have found it difficult to stick to a calorie deficit since I lost the 45 pounds. I have maintained the weight loss but have not been able to lose any more weight. I am hoping this Challenge will help motivate me beyond a week.

Looking forward to success this time. emoticon

The only bad workout is the one that didn't happen.

Hi! I've joined this Challenge today because although I'm a pretty healthy eater, I'm currently going crazy trying to find a middle way between being abstinent from things like sugar, and trying to be 'moderate' and able to eat those things sometimes (without it leading to a binge!)

I'm almost 64 and have been playing with food all my life! Different fads etc. Currently I think I've found my happy place with No S diet (three meals a day, No Sweets, No Snacks, No Seconds except on days beginning with S - ie weekends and special days like birthdays, Xmas).

I have been eating a vegetarian diet since I was 18, and have been vegan on/off with varying degrees of success. I seem to always have a little bit of dairy around - so I stick with the label 'vegetarian' now. I eat 'mostly vegan' wholefoods. I prepare almost all my own food at home. My weight is in the healthy range - so I'm a 'maintainer' - but boy it's much more difficult than I imagined! My weight creeps back up a few pounds so very easily.

I'm sure I can improve my diet though. I want to find how to be able to control my occasional loss of control in the face of a bowl of potato chips, or a plate of cookies!

Hello, my name is Relisa and I have struggled with weight for years now. I came to Spark People in 2010 and have worked with the program, lost weight , gained it back and loss again.
I have come to apply myself with this challenge. I know what I need to do, I just need to do it. I have learned accountability works best with me and learning from others helps as well.
I weigh at this moment 261 pounds. My goal is to one day be 140 pounds. As I apply myself and keep my goal always before me, I can do this.
I thank you in advance for the support .

I shall take this mountain

Have just gotten back into SP after moving 16 months ago. I now live where I do not have any phone or internet or any other kind of technology basically. I love it but rather then being out hiking I hunkered down and gained weight. I just had a change of attitude 3 weeks ago and started to doing my ranch work daily instead of weekends and I got back into eating healthy. I cut out the Cheetos and ice cream I had discovered I liked about 8 months ago! What a difference. Already down 7 pounds! AND the dog is to judging me!

I am Serena. I now live most of the time at a lodge on the western side of Washington state. I was ready to retire this past July but decided to transfer and stick around for another couple years. I don't think I will last another couple years. The ranch just sold and will close shortly and that will be my opportunity to pay off my new truck and my barn and finally leave the workforce behind! We are opening a destination airbnb and I will be working full time with that and training my new Gypsy

Hi my name is Melanie. I'm the mother of a 19 year old daughter and a 30 year old stepson. I work in a high school special education classroom where the children have various disabilities. Spark people has taught me that changing your lifestyle helps keep the weight off instead of just dieting.

Happy Valentines Day, Pattimarie is returning after a couple years. My weight hasn't changed much but it is lower. Yesterday was my birthday celebration! Need I say more?

so today I will be on track.
I am a widow with two lovely adult daughters, two grandsons and one great grandson. Guess you know by that list I'm a senior very much so but very active. I do an hour of gym daily strength and cardio. Twice weekly following gym I have 1.5 hour of yoga. Yup tooting my own horn. I'm healthy no medication I'm in my 8th year of cancer free..breast cancer but my strength saw me through.
Is this to much of an introduction? Oh well it is what it is...that was my line that got me through the cancer so hope it works here. I need to keep on track with my food. Thanks for reading

Hello I just joined SparkPeople in order to get support for changing my bad eating habits. Im 19, just finished high school. Im working out and I love it, ive progressed a lot but my nutrition needs improvement. I hope to find some guidance here. I used to binge eat brutally. I do not have those bad baad urges anymore though, but my portion control and food choice still needs improvement. I find it hard to stick to a single healthy meal day and I also tend to eat more than I need to.

ELONKA1-- Try doing a web search of SP or entire web asking about the benefits of carbs- especially whole (complex) versus simple. There's a lot of good to be said about them. You've got a good start to the day with your oatmeal. I usually add some mixed berries (thawed) to the oatmeal or bran which, while being a healthy choice full of antioxidants, provide natural sweetening.

I joined this challenge yesterday, just in time to plan my grocery shopping, which I had not been doing. I don't like to eat as much bread and pasta as this challenge may recommend but I can make own choices. What are benefits of the carbs in these foods? I could be wrong, but they seem to be fillers. I do choose otalmeal almost daily for breakfast and limit self to one slice of bread or serving of pasta per day when I do choose them.. Thanks in advance for your support and information.

Just joined today, and won't be shopping until later in the week. But I've looked at the menus and especially like the breakfast ideas. I'm 66, joined SparkPeople back in November and this is the first year in memory that I've lost weight over the holidays instead of gained. Not a lot, but happy with it. And mean to keep it going with sensible eating and adding exercise. 4 lbs. down -- 46 to go.

I have used Sparkpeople daily in the past to track my diet and exercise and found it helped me reach my goals. I have been using some Sparkpeople features sporadically since and am getting back to what works for me. I am on Day 3 of this challenge and will be organizing my refrigerator, freezer and cupboards today. Sunday just seems to be a great day to do that! Looking forward to completing this challenge and moving towards making "better for me" choices each day!

My name is Kayne. I'm trying this, but I don't know if it will work for me. I'm the only one in the house who is really concerned about a healthy diet. I live a 30 minute drive from the nearest "supermarket", and it's not known for it's diversity. So some of the food is not available, or impossible to buy in smaller quantities. But I will see how it goes.

Marilyn Kay here. Doing this challenge again. I can't afford to buy everything on the weekly shopping list because it would take using my whole month food budget. I will be using the tips and adjusting what I eat to include as many veggies as possible.

You're all real inspirations to me. Keep it up.

I'm losing my way, so I thought I'd seek community support.

The shopping list and menus are going to help. I'm not officially starting though until I can get to the store - tomorrow after an Oatmeal Banana breakfast.

I'm already inspired, just being in here - and have skipped my usual mass quantity eating binges and had airpopped popcorn sans butter and salt. I'm not hungry at the moment and I know I'm WAY DOWN on my usual calorie intake. Good start on day 0

I am Cher. I decided to join this challenge after I finished my Small Changes challenge. It seems like I always do well on the challenges. I am 63 soon to be 64. I am the oldest member of my family left. I have a few younger brothers and a sister and some younger cousins. my kids and grandkids. I am Diabetic trying to keep from using meds and lower my cholesterol. I started SparkPeople December 4 because I wanted to use the food tracker, but I am really surprised by all the help for Diabetics here. I am learning a lot.

Have a good day.

Hello my name is Carolyn and am new to this team today. I've been with SP for a few years, but for some reason, I never saw this team before. I lost a great deal of weight at one time, but then I gained most of it back again. I've been doing well with my foods the last few months, and I feel that this team is the team I need to help carry me further towards my weight loss goal this year,

Hoping to get motivated and get into a healthy eating habit and exercise routine along with my daughter.

Hello from Ohio emoticon I started using Sparkpeople years ago, with great success. I lost over 30 lbs emoticon BUT...I got lazy and unmotivated and fell off the wagon emoticon I have gained back everything I worked so hard to lose...Needless to say I'm disappointed in myself, but it's time to stop the pity party and do what I know works. I've rededicated myself to lifestyle changes and never to give up on myself again. Good luck on your spark journeys emoticon

Hi, My name is Mel and I have been on SP since 2011. I joined this team to get back to basics with eating the "plate" and increasing my exercise minutes.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.

Hi, I am Betsy. I am 6 feet tall. I joined Sparks 6 years ago to get down to a healthy weight for my 50th birthday. I accomplished that in 4 and 1/2 mos. and maintained for 8 mos. then went off the wagon{really no exercising at all in the hot summer that year and all the rest of the years{my excuse was I was busy Homeschooling } and am back here trying to lose the wt. again~{ 20 lbs. + 6 extra pounds } for my child so I will be around for all of his childhood. I know I can stick with this and lose it again and keep it off! I am HAPPY at this writing ~ I have lost 5 lbs. already!

So here I am trying to fight off everything in general and I am a type 2 diabetic ugh,
and that sucks and no fun having problems to deal with...just wanna be a better person,
in general so here I start a better me for December in what's left of this month.

morning team, just signed up for this one and if I can get the hubby "sugar freak" to eat the right way even for the duration of this challenge I will be happy. On a fixed income its hard to fix separate meals. But will really try, don't so much need to loss any more but do need to get to eating right so what I've worked to had to get off stays off. My name is Candi and I live in the middle of the "baby finger" of Michigan, 15 miles from Traverse City. I'm 70 years young the end of this month, been married 53 years come mid March, have 3 adult children and 6 g.kids 5 in their mid 20's and one surprise who is 14. I am one of those people who really enjoys working out and have a nice collection of work out videos and a set of hand weights plus a treadmill for winter time walks and it all helps me keep pretty well in shape for an old lady. Have a good one and good luck to us all. emoticon

Hi I'm Chelsea and I'm from central CA. I have been a member of spark people for a number of years but I keep falling off the wagon. Everytime I start over I have more and more weight to lose. Hopefully this time will stick and it should because I have a baby now that I want to be around for for a long time to come. Besides it is way past time to get back to a normal size and a more active life! Looking forward to doing this challenge! emoticon

Hey! I am trying to get myself on track with eating right. I'm not very creative when it comes to planning meals, so I am hoping to get some ideas and tricks here.

Hi everyone,

Just joined this challenge as I really need to do a better job of healthier eating. I tend to do OK with getting in some fitness (need to increase that too!) but the eating is my biggest challenge.

Looking forward to learning more and making progress!

I'm Vicki and I'm working on cutting out as much processed junk foods as I can and eating healthier.
I'm down 20 lbs over the past year and would like to drop another 10 lbs. by the end of this year. Spark people has been a huge help in as far as keeping me motivated to stay on track.

Hi I'm DJ. I'm on day 8 of my streak to get healthier (again, seems I keep starting over) and I'm on Day 4 of The Fit Food Challenge.

This challenge is great because the food always affects how I feel and function. This keeps me thinking about that every day. By the end of the challenge I should have my healthy eating habit established again.

I've been on SP a long time and it is the one place I can count on for some encouragement, accountability and fun challenges.

Hi everyone. I am Sandra. I live in Texas. I had bariatric surgery in May 2015 and I am truly focused on eating food that packs a big bang (nutrient dense). Everything has to count since I am not able to eat a kids meal and sometimes I am not able to get in 1000 calories per day unless I plan on eating the wrong foods. This challenge will be a great opportunity to see how well I am doing and for me to learn new things.

Hi, I'm Donna and I live in central PA, 20 miles east of Penn State University. I just celebrated my 26th wedding anniversary yesterday and am looking forward to many more years together. This is the 2nd marriage for both of us so together we have 5 children and 8 grandchildren. I am originally from Florida and moved to PA in 1988. Met my DH in 89 and were married the same year. He is now retired, I work as Lead Teller at a bank. We love camping and spending time with the grandkids.

emoticon I'm Lisa from western NE. I'm loving all the new and revamped Spark challenges; I've completed the 28 day challenge and am half-way through the 30 day. I really need to rethink my food intake, get more veggies and fruit and way fewer liquid calories.
