I'm going to be (officially) starting the C25K program next week (I'm easing into it with extra walking right now) and I'm pretty excited. I got an app for my iphone to make timing easier. Now to find my pedometer... :)

Hi all! I actually decided in April that I wanted to get in shape so I downloaded a C25K app. I was living a pretty sedentary lifestyle so I couldn't start the program like it wanted me to. I just started walking and throwing a bit of running in when I could. I increased the time I was running every day and now I can actually run/walk when she tells me to run/walk. I love that I have so much more energy and I'm so much healthier but I'm no where close to where I want to be. I have registered for a 5K in August (Color me Rad) that I'm really looking forward to and then I want to do The Color Run next March. When I hear of others close to me, I plan to enter those as well. I love the feeling I get when I run! I'm looking foward to getting in shape and getting to know you all at the same time! It's always fun to have running buddies. Good luck to you all!

Actionherofox: Its a bit late of a reply, but you can do it! I didn't think I could at all either, and I just finished my first 20 minute run :) I started off barely making it through my run one minute and walk two minutes, but if you ease into it and follow a plan you will get there. You will be able to do much more than you expect. Plus it is fun to see improvement! Good luck!!!

Hey y'all. I'm currently on week 7. I will be doing Day 3 tomorrow.

I decided to run my C25K differently from some of the other guys. I jog with timing. So when the app tells me to walk I walk and run then I run. So of course at the pace I run I am not getting the whole 5K in. Once I complete Week 8 then I will work on my speed, but every run I do without stopping. I can now jog for 25 minutes straight no walking

Hello All,

I am 335 and am inching from my biggest in 5 years. I first started SP in 2007, and lost 100 lbs. I have went up and down for the next 6 years to about 355 in June. I am determined to get to 145 and want to add running to my fitness routine. I am starting with the walking. I walk at the track, do interval walking at the gym, and do walk at home workouts with Leslie Sansone. I look forward to interacting with you on our way to our goals. emoticon

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm just really scared that I can't do it. I've never done anything like this and I haven't ran since high school. Just really nervous.

That sounds like a really fun time. Everyone coming together like that to walk or run. I love dogs. Breathing is important. I hear there is a certain way to do it, but I haven't got it figured out yet.

Actionherofox, I think you can do it. I am 40 and the biggest I have ever been. I always think I would like running until I try and can't breathe. Breathing is important I guess. Anyway, I did a 5K walk yesterday, my first, untimed, but I enjoyed myself and being in a group. Some ran, some walked. some had dogs and strollers, it was just fun. So I joined this group to try to learn to run. Also, I have never ran a mile, so you are already ahead of the game!

I'm seriously doubting here. The fastest I've ever ran a mile was 12 minutes and I walked the corners. That was back when I was a size 16 at age 15. I'm now a size 24 and age 24; I'm huffing and puffing. My ankle hurts, my calves hurt, my chest hurts, I feel like I can't breathe. I can't make a whole 3 minutes running. Everything hurts and my chest gets in the way. Oh geez. Just not fun. I don't think I can do this.

I am new to the group and the challenge. In fact today is my first day of the challenge. I failed my first workout. I am disappointed in myself and also proud at the same time. I tried, I haven't ran since I was 13 years old. Now at 30 I am trying to train for a 5k. Before this challenge I was walking 5 and running 1 for 30 min, so I figured this was the next step. Well my heart was saying yes but my mind was telling me no. All I could think about was my chins were beginning to hurt and my body is too hard to get up and down. I stopped but I still feel amazed at what I did. Can't wait to try again Wednesday

Hi there, I'm Leila, and I've just recently started the couch to 5k program (today was day 3 of week 1). I'm following it with my husband, and while he's naturally skinny, I am definitely not. But I'm really enjoying getting out and jogging, especially since I live in an area which has a bunch of really nice river side paths. I've already got a great food plan going (that I've been following for 5 weeks now), so this program has seems like exactly the jump start I need to get my exercise going.

Trying to get to a skinnier me with a Ph.D.

I ran my first 5k! It took me 50 minutes (now that is SSSSLLLOOOWWW) and I finished with the walkers but I never stopped running. :) It was a great day and I am super excited to have one race under my belt. I will do another in September, I wonder how fast I will be?

There are so many recent posts! Welcome everyone!!!

I finished C25k in January and worked on my time in February. I didn't run at all in March (travel and work) and have struggled to get back into it in April.

BUT - Tomorrow I run my first 5k!!! I will check back when it is over. :)

My name is Christine, I'm 56, and 260 lb. I'm on w2 d3 of C25K, and have a triathlon coming up on May 19. This is my 2nd tri, and I was hoping to have my weight down a bit for it. Instead I'm going in 5 lb up. I'm a little disappointed about that, but figure it could have been so much worse.

Right now I'm struggling with icy conditions on my running route, and the paths aren't really clear enough to start training on my bike. But I can do 50 laps in the pool, so I figure I've got that bit covered.

I'm a single mother of a young adult with disabilities, have been helping my elderly parents, and work full time, so working out can be a struggle. On the plus side, I live in Anchorage AK, with some of the most stunning scenery anywhere. Okay, so I'm a little biased about the scenery, but I'm in love with "my" mountains.

Just now joining this group although I am on W2D3. I tried C25k a couple of years ago and made it to W6. Currently using an app on my phone called ease into 5k and I love it. One question: Is it an absolute must to always take a day off in between runs? I have been using this as a main form of exercise and just simply adding a Day 4 or Day 5 (so doing 4-5 runs instead of 3), some back-to-back. After the first week, my soreness went away and I found that I love how I feel afterwards so I have been doing this instead of usual elliptical. Not good?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Hi guys, I'm back after a long winter of not running. Started W1 on Monday! This will be my third round of C25K. Hope everyone is doing well.

Y'all, I did it! I went back to the gym tonight and ran 3 (super slow) miles! It took me 53 minutes but I never stopped moving. Woohoo! I am so excited (and exhausted and sore but mostly excited!)

My plan is to run 3 miles 3 times a week this month, at least until my 5k (April 20). After that, maybe I will make one run speed work. :)

I joined this team a few weeks back but have not started yet (officially), though I have joined a lunch time running club at school. I am not a runner. In high school, if memory serves me correctly, I would do a 20 min mile. DH used to be a runner, but after having knee surgery, he no longer runs. We walked our first 5K on Super Bowl Sunday this year, and DH's comment as we finished was that we would do this same 5K next year and run it. Just 5 minutes ago I registered us for a 5K walk/run in May, so I figured I'd better get to training, and what better place to learn what I need to do, then to revisit the team I had already joined! Wahhoooo. Here I go......

I completed W1D2 last week and have been unable to continue so far. I've been having a lot of hip pain (stupid arthritis), but have been taking slow walks with my DH each evening. At least I'm moving! I really hope to restart W1 on Monday.

Completed W1D2...I had done it over the weekend, but I really just want to go from start to finish. LOL

Anyhow I was surprised I did well, the weather was definately cooler as a storm is coming in. It felt so good. Cool and crisp. I knew it was going to be a good run when the first song on my playlist was "Running on Empty" by Jackson Browne...finished off with "Shadows of the Night" by Pat Benetar.

Doing a walk with hubby tomorrow and maybe check out the gym. See you guys on Thursday!!
