Joining this team might be a terrible idea. I was going to post on the pre-TTC board, but reading about everyone's plans was slightly depressing. My ex and I talked a lot about marriage and starting a family. I am finishing up my masters this summer and we were hoping to start TTC shortly after that. I am definitely ready to move on to that stage in my life. Unfortunately, we broke up so babies are probably a long way off. However, during my annual appointment at planned parenthood in January, the doctor explained her concern in my weight gain over the past few years. This was the first time a doctor ever told me that I needed to lose weight. She told me that it was important that I lose weight now and establish a routine so that if/when I become pregnant it won't be as hard for me to lose any weight I have gained. And I know it is important for me to take care of myself now so that I can have a healthy pregnancy some day. So even though TTC is a long way off for me getting fit before I have a baby is motivation for me. I want to be a mom before I am 30. A friend of the family is currently staying with us. She has a 11 month old baby girl. They have been staying here on and off since her daughter was around 5 months. In the past 6 months I have played the role of a mom as much as her own mother and every time she gets exciting about seeing me I know how much of an impact I've had on her life. I love kids and I cannot wait to have children of my own. But since that day is a long way off, I have plenty of time to get to a healthy weight and develop a healthy lifestyle.
