Prescott is expected to miss the next two weeks which will keep him out of the team’s first exhibition game, next Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers during the Hall of Fame induction weekend. He likely could miss the second week, a road exhibition against he Arizona Cardinals. Dallas will then return to Texas to complete their preparation for the regular season, with two more preseason tilts against Houston and Jacksonville.

The NFL released the full schedule of 2021’s preseason games on Thursday.

The exhibition slate has been trimmed from the traditional four games to three for most teams, but the Cowboys will play one extra this year thanks to their inclusion in the annual Hall of Fame Game (a holdover from 2020, when the game was scrapped- along with the league’s entire preseason- due to COVID-19 concerns).

The Cowboys will square off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Canton, Ohio on Thursday, August 5. That game will be the culmination of the combined 2020-2021 Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week festivities, in which Jimmy Johnson, Cliff Harris, and Drew Pearson will take their place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Next, the Cowboys will travel to the desert to take on Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals for their second preseason contest. The rematch of last season’s 38-10 drubbing comes on Friday the 13th of August.

The team will come home to AT&T Stadium for their final two preseason games. On Saturday, August 21, they’ll host the Houston Texans for state bragging rights and the Texas Governor’s Cup. And on Sunday, August 29, Dallas will welcome top overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars to town under new head coach Urban Meyer.

The Cowboys will also kick off the NFL’s regular season when they meet the Super Bowl-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 9.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has another problem related to one of his dogs.

Via TMZ.com, a new lawsuit contends that Elliott’s Rottweiler attacked an employee of a boarding facility on March 25, 2021.

Per the lawsuit, Elliott allegedly had boarded his three dogs at the Bliss Pet Resort in Prosper, Texas. Brandon Williams took the dogs outside so that they could do the things that most (but not all) dogs do outside. The Rottweiler suddenly attacked, according to the civil complaint.

The dog, according to the allegations, seized Williams’ right arm, clamped down, and threw him to the ground.

After four years spent on losing teams with the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets, defensive end Tarell Basham signed with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason in hopes of experiencing the opposite end of the NFL spectrum.

“I feel like I’ve done enough losing in my past,” Basham said to reporters on Thursday.

BACK-UP QB

The Cowboys have had veteran quarterbacks Jeff Driskel and Brett Hundley visit recently. It’s obvious Mike McCarthy would prefer a veteran quarterback behind Dak Prescott.

Dallas signed Andy Dalton last offseason, and Prescott missed 11 games with his right ankle injury.

The Cowboys, though, didn’t sign Driskel or Hundley, and Driskel since has signed with the Texans.

That leaves the team with Garrett Gilbert, Cooper Rush and Ben DiNucci behind Prescott. Those three have combined for two career starts. DiNucci and Gilbert each started a game for the Cowboys last season, their first career starts, and Rush has three career attempts.

That means, for now, the No. 2 job belongs to Gilbert, and the longer the team goes without signing a veteran quarterback, the more likely it is that Gilbert retains the job into the season.

Former Ohio State wide receiver Johnnie Dixon is getting another shot to prove himself in the NFL. After securing a tryout with the Cleveland Browns during their rookie minicamp, he was not offered a contract. However, Dixon went through another tryout on Friday with the Dallas Cowboys, and this time it appears he impressed enough to ink a deal according to an announcement on Twitter Monday by his agent Jason Bernstein.

f you’ve followed Dixon’s arc at all, you know that he’s been snakebitten with the injuries during his career. He struggled mightily with knee injuries early on at Ohio State, but finally carved out a significant role with the team his final two seasons in 2017 and 2018.

He went undrafted in the 2019 NFL draft but signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Houston Texans. After they cut him, he was picked up by the Arizona Cardinals, but again, injuries kept him from getting in the mix to show what he could do.

Now, seemingly fully healthy, he’ll get another shot in Big D.

Jaylon Smith wants to wear his old college number on his jersey 9...... the NFL has changed rules regarding the assignment of numbers for jersey and he would be allowed to wear the number 9....... however, Under NFL rules, players who want to change their number in 2021 have to buy out stock of jerseys and shirts featuring their old number. Smith is willing to do that. Had he waited until next season, Smith would not be required to buyout his old merchandise, according to Archer.

The journey for the Dallas Cowboys to find the proper backup for Dak Prescott has picked up lately. Two weeks ago, they brought in Jeff Driskel for a visit but the six-year veteran left without putting a pen to paper on a deal. Brett Hundley, who backed up Aaron Rodgers for three seasons under Mike McCarthy during his days with the Green Bay Packers, was scheduled to come in for a visit this week with a shot at a reunion with his old coach.

Even though Hundley’s workout went well, it doesn’t appear he’ll be putting a star on his helmet, at least not at the moment. According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Hundley will leave Dallas without a deal.

The Cowboys have begun the grueling selection process that eventually ends with just 53 men left on the roster. To get to 53, Dallas must first get to just 90 names, and the club officially hit that mark after releasing six total players on Friday.

C Adam Redmond, DT Walter Palmore, DE Ladarius Hamilton, and CB Kemon Hall were all officially released by the Cowboys.

none of the releases have come as major surprises to Cowboys fans, as the club needed to make room for the 24 total players added last week through the draft and undrafted free agency.

Last year, the NFL roster size for training camp was set at 80, though it remains to be seen if this years training camp will be treated the same way. Dallas has a number of tough decisions in front of them as they slowly form their 53-man roster.

Draft result overall rating for the Cowboys-

Dallas Cowboys
Grade: A-

The Cowboys went heavy on defense in this draft, which was an excellent choice after last season's struggles on that side of the ball. First-round pick Micah Parsons was the top linebacker in this class, and the former Penn State star has all the talent to be an impact player early in his pro career.

This also gives rating for all the teams

Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Dallas Cowboys:

Round 1 (No. 12 overall, from 49ers through Dolphins and Eagles) - Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State: Dallas drops two spots after missing out on Jaycee Horn (Panthers) and Patrick Surtain II (Broncos) to add Parsons to what was the worst defense in franchise history in 2020. With Sean Lee retiring and former first-round LB Leighton Vander Esch possibly entering his final season with the team, Jerry Jones and Co. reload at linebacker – and Parsons might arguably be the most impactful defender in this draft. Draft tracker

Round 2 (44) - Kelvin Joseph, CB, Kentucky: And Dallas begins repairing last year's sieve-like pass defense, Joseph now paired outside with 2020 second-rounder Trevon Diggs. Joseph's exceptional athleticism should serve him well as he adapts to the NFL. Draft tracker

Round 3 (75) - Osa Odighizuwa, DT, UCLA: Could compete for a starting spot given state of Dallas' interior line. Odighizuwa notched 10˝ sacks over his past three seasons and can get slippery in the gaps. Draft tracker

Round 3 (84, from Colts through Eagles) - Chauncey Golston, DE, Iowa: Dallas' defensive-themed draft continues with Golston, who had 27 TFLs over the past three seasons. Draft tracker

Round 3 (99, compensatory) - Nahshon Wright, CB, Oregon State: He picked off five passes over the past two seasons. He might need to add some weight to a 6-4, 183-pound frame, but his physique will clearly make him problematic as a defender once he proves he can hold up in the NFL physically. And don't forget what new Dallas DC Dan Quinn did in Seattle with similarly built Richard Sherman once upon a time. Draft tracker

Round 4 (115) - Jabril Cox, LB, LSU

Round 4 (138, compensatory) - Josh Ball, OT, Marshall

Round 5 (179, compensatory) - Simi Fehoko, WR, Stanford

Round 6 (192, from Lions) - Quinton Bohanna, DT, Kentucky

Round 6 (227, compensatory) - Israel Mukuamu, CB, South Carolina

Round 7 (238) - Matt Farniok, OG, Nebraska

Jerry Jones has been synonymous with offense — and the stars that go with the shiny side of the NFL — since buying the Dallas Cowboys and making himself general manager in 1989.

A defensive draft like no other in franchise history says plenty about the impact last year's sometimes brutally bad unit had on a front office that believes the offensive pieces are in place to end a quarter-century drought without a Super Bowl.

The Cowboys got through six picks before taking their first offensive player when they had never gone more than five selections deep without at least drafting a lineman. Of the 11 Dallas selections, eight were on defense, the most for the club since the draft was reduced to seven rounds in 1994.

The Dallas Cowboys focused on defense like never before in the NFL draft under Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys used their first five picks on defensive players, four of them coming on a busy Friday night.

Dallas had never gone that far into the draft without picking an offensive player since Jones bought the team and made himself the general manager in 1989

Dallas took Kentucky cornerback Kelvin Joseph 44th overall in the second round. UCLA defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa was the first of three third-round choices at No. 75 overall, followed by Iowa defensive end Chauncey Golston at 84 and Oregon State cornerback Nahshon Wright with the 99th pick

With the Cowboys now at 25 years and counting without even reaching the NFC championship game, much less a Super Bowl for a proud franchise with five championships, the message seemed clear enough to Wright.

“That we’re going to bring some more life, more turnovers,” Wright said. “And definitely we’ll get a sixth championship.”

DRAFT UPDATE -

Nahshon Wright became the first Oregon State player tabbed in the 2021 NFL Draft when the junior cornerback was a third-round selection by Dallas, the 99th overall pick

With the third of their Day 2 draft picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys continue to bolster their defensive line by selecting Iowa defensive end Chauncey Golston with the 84th overall pick in the third round. This is the draft pick they received from the Philadelphia Eagles for moving down two spots in the first round.

With the second of their for draft picks on Day 2 in the 2021 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys decide to upgrade the interior of their defensive line by selecting UCLA defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa with the 75th overall pick in the third-round

the Dallas Cowboys headed into the second round Friday hoping to continue to bolster a defense that was one of the worst in franchise history in 2020.
It proved to be mission accomplished as they filled their biggest need by taking Kentucky cornerback Kelvin Joseph in the second round, 44th overall.

DRAFT NEWS FOR THE COWBOYS!

Yahoo Sports
2021 NFL draft: Round 1 instant grades
Eric Edholm
Eric Edholm
Fri, April 30, 2021, 12:10 AM·14 min read

10) Philadelphia Eagles (via Dallas Cowboys): WR DeVonta Smith, Alabama — With the top two corners off the board the previous two picks, this was a tough spot for the Cowboys. So they trade out with … their division rivals? Why, yes! To get ahead of the division rival Giants, of course. Philly must have thought that the Giants were dead set on Smith, sending a third-rounder to Dallas to move up two slots. Smith’s weight (170-ish pounds) will be all the talk, but his play was downright special — for most of the past three years. A fascinating pick. Grade: B-.

12) Dallas Cowboys (via Philadelphia Eagles): LB Micah Parsons, Penn State — The Cowboys have to be worried about the health of LBs Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith, as they take Parsons here. He certainly fits the mold of the hyper-athletic playmaker the Cowboys tend to seek, and the defense was a major problem last season. Where and how Parsons fits in will be interesting, but at the least he adds outstanding juice and pass-rush talent to that unit. Still, there’s risk with this pick, and they still need a corner. Grade: B-.

The worst-case scenario played out for the Dallas Cowboys and the first round when they saw both Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain II go off the board with back-to-back picks to the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. So what do they do? Trade down two spots with the Philadelphia Eagles and pick up an extra Top 100 draft pick (84th overall).

Micah Parsons is no doubt a phenomenal athlete, but in regards to positional value and providing immediate help, it’s difficult to justify a higher draft grade for the Dallas Cowboys decision to draft the Penn State LB then a solid “B”.

Dan Quinn and his coaching staff now have to figure out where Micah Parsons fits in the 2021 plans. With Jaylon Smith, Leighton Vander Esch, and Keanu Neal in the fold. there will be a competition for snaps left in 2021.

Micah Parsons is still a really solid selection for the Dallas Cowboys. This is the team making the best of a bad situation. They were able to trade down two spots and pick up an extra third-round draft pick for a player they probably would’ve selected with the 10th overall pick once the two corners were gone.

Overall, it’s hard to fault the Cowboys too much for trying to solidify the linebacker position for not only this year, but for years to come. Only time will tell what kind of player Micah Parsons will develop into. He could very well be the next great Penn State LB to have a long successful career in the NFL.

Prescott's rehabilitation following ankle surgery could allow him to be "100 percent by April,''
Prescott, of course, sustained the serious ankle injury in Week 5 of the 2020 NFL year, ending his season and helping doom Dallas to a 6-10 record. There have been some issues raised about the success of the operation, especially when it was revealed that a second procedure was performed on the ankle, though sources have told CowboysSI.com that the second surgery was about "strengthening and clean-up.''

Prescott's private view is that he will be fully healthy this spring, with no aftereffects of the injury and surgery. The Cowboys feel the same way, with this contract essentially confirming those beliefs.

COO Stephen Jones said it was important, and maybe affirming, to have Dak rehabbing here in the building.

Dallas sits at No. 10 and the shift in who picks where leaves an obvious tremor. All week, the discussion I’ve had on Twitter has been about the generational talent that Florida tight end Kyle Pitts has as his ceiling. There’s never a sure thing in any of this, but the discussion on whether a team should focus on the more immediate need or a higher ceiling is full of contentious debate. With the change in who is picking ahead of Dallas, the possibility of Pitts being there at No. 10 is now more realistic. There are still multiple teams which could draft him, of course.

Recently I discussed this possibility of Dallas having the choice between Pitts and Alabama CB Patrick Surtain II on the Cowboys Wire podcast.

And here, it plays out in this mock exercise, run on The Draft Network. If Dallas goes with Pitts, how do they best solve their defensive needs. The hunt is on!

Dallas Cowboys begin upgrades in free agency with influx of talent on defensive line
The primary focus has been upgrading the talent on a defense that gave up more points in 2020 than any other year in franchise history and allowed the second-most yards and rushing yards ever. The first step was the firing of former defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and the hiring of Dan Quinn to replace him.

The Cowboys got started in essence on Thursday with the addition of three bodies to the defensive line, including defensive tackles Carlos Watkins and Brent Urban and defensive end Tarell Basham.

Basham, who played the past two 2 1/2 seasons with the New York Jets, is getting a two-year contract worth up to $6.5 million, according to sources.

Urban, who played the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears, and Watkins, who played the last four seasons with the Houston Texans, got one-year deals.

The Cowboys still have needs at linebacker, safety and cornerback.

But they focused up front first in bolstering the defense line with hopes of addressing the team’s abominable run defense.

The Cowboys have agreed to terms with veteran deep snapper Jake McQuaide, who is a free agent after spending 10 years with the Rams. Obviously, his connection with the Cowboys would be special teams coordinator John Fassel, who coached him for many years with the Rams.

With the Cowboys to sign McQuaide, it signals the end of L.P. Ladouceur's time in Dallas. Ladouceur, who turned 40 recently, is an unrestricted free agent. He joined the Cowboys in 2005 and has currently played 253 career games in Dallas, just two short of Jason Witten's franchise record.

wo days after seeing Chido Awuzie leave for Cincinnati, Jourdan Lewis has agreed on a new deal with the Cowboys.

Lewis reportedly gets a three-year deal worth $16.5 million with $8 million of it guaranteed.

Lewis is valued as a slot corner with his ability to cover some of the quickest receivers and running backs in the league.

For 2021, the Cowboys have Lewis, Anthony Brown and Trevon Diggs slotted as their top three corners for now, although it has been widely speculated the Cowboys could be targeting a cornerback with the No. 10 pick.

As expected, the Cowboys parted ways with Chris Jones, a veteran punter who has been with the team since 2011. Jones has been a mainstay for the Cowboys but after getting hurt last season, it forced the team to get a new punter, one that out-performed Jones in more ways than one.

Hunter Niswander finished the season with a 47.5 yard average, a better season finish than any of Jones' previous seasons. Jones had a career average of 44.5 yards per punt and his best season finish was 45.9 in 2016.
One of the first free-agent moves of the offseason for the Cowboys was getting wide receiver Noah Brown back in the fold.

The 2017 seventh-round pick has been injured for most of his time in Dallas, but played all 16 games last year as a reserve receiver but a special teams contributor.

yep I'm partial.........

The reason for Prescott’s rare opportunity to turn the page is that there simply aren’t enough high quality QBs to keep every team satisfied in the NFL. More and more top guys are moving closer to retirement. A commodity like Prescott, who threw for 502, 472 and 450 yards in the games before his season-ending ankle injury, has all the serious value that the shortage brings.

At this point it has become far less about what Prescott is worth amid the parameters of public perception and comparisons to others, and almost entirely about what benefit he holds to the Cowboys.

Mike Florio recently explained in a PFT post why the Cowboys need to get a long-term deal completed with Dak Prescott before the franchise-tag deadline March 9. That’s exactly what the team hopes to do, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.

The two-week franchise-tag window opens Tuesday, so the clock is ticking on a new deal.

Tagging Prescott a second consecutive year would come at a cost of $37.7 million to the Cowboys. Against an expected salary cap of somewhere between $180 million and $185 million, that will tie up a huge chunk of the team’s cap.

According to Archer, Prescott’s representation and the Cowboys already have had discussions, “if not actual negotiations.”

The sides have negotiated almost two years without reaching agreement, so both sides already have a good idea of what the other seeks.

If the sides can’t reach a long-term deal by March 9, the Cowboys are expected to use the franchise tag on Prescott. That would give them until July 15 to continue negotiating.

But the Cowboys would have to carry the $37.7 million tag number on their salary cap until/if working out a long-term deal.

Cowboys hope for long-term deal with Dak Prescott before March 9 originally appeared on Pro Football Talk

I love Dak!!!

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is trying to help Texas residents in need. As the state grapples with a winter storm that has left millions without power, Prescott donated to an organization that helps feed the homeless in Dallas.

The organization — named OurCalling — posted about Prescott's donation. Prescott and actor Matthew McConaughey, who was born in Texas, both donated to help OurCalling.

Dak Prescott will return to the Dallas Cowboys for the 2021 NFL season. The only question left facing the superstar passer, who is still recovering from a gruesome leg injury, is what kind of contract he will sign with the team.

The 27-year-old played under the franchise tag this season, receiving $31.4 million from Jerry Jones. Unfortunately, just five games into the season, he went down with a compound ankle fracture and missed the rest of the year. Despite the frightening image of the injury when it happened, Prescott is expected to be healthy for the 2021 season and it seems the Cowboys are ready to do whatever it takes to bring him back.

The team fired Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula on Friday.
Nolan was handpicked by McCarthy to lead the team’s defense in 2020. In McCarthy’s first season at the helm, the Cowboys went 6-10. The team will pick 10th in the 2021 NFL Draft.

And then things dramatically changed for both the Cowboys and Prescott.

The Cowboys averaged 31.5 points, 509.5 total yards and 407.8 passing yards per game during his four starts, according to ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum. Over the next 10 games, those numbers — 21.3 points, 320.3 yards, 205.5 passing yards — fell off a cliff as the Dallas offense tried not to drown without their runaway Team MVP.

But now, after the Cowboys finished the 2020 season 6-10 and missed the playoffs, Prescott’s leverage has never been greater. And Jerry Jones knows it.

“I don’t know how you could have any more leverage,” Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan, as transcribed by ESPN.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that Week 15’s game between the Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers, which was set to be broadcast on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” is being moved back to 1 p.m. ET. Taking its place will be the game between the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.

How rare is it for the Cowboys to be flexed out of “Sunday Night Football?” According to sports broadcast site 506 Sports, it’s so rare that it hasn’t happened since NBC took over the rights to SNF in 2006.

Wide receiver Dez Bryant will be doing something for the first time this Sunday.

Bryant will be on the field as an opponent of the Cowboys when the Ravens welcome his former team to Baltimore on Tuesday night. Bryant played the first 113 games of his career for Dallas before being released in April 2018. He signed with the Saints later that year, but tore his Achilles before playing a game and was out of the league until signing with the Ravens practice squad earlier this season.

At the time of his release Bryant said he was “sorry they got to feel me it’s personal,” but says now that “it’s water under the bridge” between him and the team. Bryant said he “had to get myself together and move forward” to the next stage of his career.

“It’s cool. I’m excited. I’m looking forward to it,” Bryant said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. “A lot of those guys on that team, I know [and] I’m real good friends with. I think when we line up across from one another, it’s going to be fun. It’s going to be an exciting moment.”

Bryant did not have a catch while playing 32 snaps in Wednesday’s loss to the Steelers. He had four catches for 28 yards in Week 11.

With very few details available, the Dallas Cowboys have cancelled both practice and media availability for all players and coaches on Tuesday. The only thing being shared currently is that it is not COVID-19 related. The reason is a medical emergency involving a staff member.

Despite their 2-7 record, the Dallas Cowboys aren’t out of the playoff hunt just yet thanks to the train wreck that is the NFC East. With their football fate largely in their own hands, the question for the team going forward is the amount of effort they put forth into winning games.

Dallas quarterback Andy Dalton has been cleared for practice after getting through the protocols for a concussion and COVID-19.
Coach Mike McCarthy said Dalton participated in an informal practice Monday, the first day back for the Cowboys coming off their open week. Dallas (2-7) visits Minnesota on Sunday.
The setbacks with Dalton, who replaced injured star Dak Prescott, led to the Cowboys starting four different quarterbacks in a span of five weeks. The last two, rookie Ben DiNucci and seventh-year QB Garrett Gilbert, each made his first career start.

McCarthy wouldn't say Dalton would start against the Vikings. General manager Jerry Jones and executive director of personnel Stephen Jones both have said Dalton is the starter if he's available.

According to the team’s vice president Stephen Jones, Dak Prescott is on pace to recover in about four months, matching up with the team’s expected timeline for the franchise quarterback. The 27-year-old suffered a dislocated ankle in early October, knocking him out for the remainder of the season.

“This is a four-month injury and so far, if anything, everything we’re getting from (associate athletic trainer Britt Brown) and the doctors is that he’s ahead of schedule,” Stephen Jones said. “He’s been able to avoid any setbacks and if anything, he’s ahead of schedule, which shouldn’t be a surprise.”

The Dallas Cowboys will once again be a hot topic in the upcoming offseason. The team has some tough decisions ahead as they try to improve their roster, while opening up cap space to extend franchise star Dak Prescott. Trading Amari Cooper would net the Cowboys a top pick and clear cap space, so should the Cowboys shop their elite wideout? Draft season has already begun for some fans, and the Cowboys will be scheduled to select early. See what plans K.D. Drummond has for the team’s draft in his latest 4-round mock.

With hope all but gone for Dallas’ postseason chances, the Cowboys should begin to play some of the younger players on their roster just to see what they have, and Jerry Jones agrees, but who will be the biggest beneficiary of this potential playing time increase? It looks like the Cowboys’ experimental signing of Aldon Smith has already paid off, and the club made it known they hope to extend the talented pass rusher.

If only the pandemic truly had disappeared after the election.

The nationwide COVID-19 outbreak continues, with six-figure cases and single-day records over each of the past two days. And the NFL is feeling the impact of it.

Currently, 15 teams have issues with the virus, in one form or another. In no particular order, they are the Ravens, Texans, Colts, Broncos, Chiefs, Cowboys, Packers, Bears, 49ers, Cardinals, Eagles, Raiders, Lions, Falcons, and Dolphins.

That’s nearly half the league, presently struggling with some issue or another related to the pandemic.

Andy Dalton was already trying to get through concussion protocol after the brutal hit he suffered in Week 7. Now, the 10-year veteran finds himself on the reserve/COVID-19 and will miss the Dallas Cowboys‘ battle against the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers in Arlington on Sunday. As fast as seventh-round rookie Ben DiNucci got the starting job at quarterback it could jump ship to Cooper Rush in Week 9, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Cowboys have told defensive tackle Dontari Poe and cornerback Daryl Worley that they’ll be released if they can’t be traded on Wednesday.

Poe has been completely ineffective this season, and he’s been given plenty of chances to not be. He has seven tackles and no sacks over 253 snaps, which just isn’t going to cut it. The 30-year-old signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Cowboys this offseason. Worley, 25, has also played a lot of snaps this season (246) but can’t seem to defend receivers, which is a big problem.

UGH! watching the game was BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy Dalton wasn’t very good. Neither was his offensive line. Or the Dallas Cowboys’ defense. Add head coach Mike McCarthy to the list as well.

None were as bad as Ezekiel Elliott.

Arizona humiliated Dallas, 38-10, on national television Monday night. It was the Cowboys’ first full game since quarterback Dak Prescott was lost for the season to an ankle injury (and since he’s a free agent, potentially forever). All they managed to do was make Prescott’s value even more obvious.

Someone should take Jerry Jones’ phone away from him before he, like a lonely, desperate soul recently jilted from a relationship, dials up the Prescott camp and offers Dak half of Arlington to sign a long-term deal.

The Cowboys didn’t have Dak Prescott and his 371.2 passing yards per game.

And Ezekiel Elliott‘s two fumbles — which came in a three-play span in the second quarter — got the Cowboys in a hole they couldn’t dig out of without their star quarterback.

“I don’t think we can use that as an excuse,” Elliott said of playing without Prescott. “I’m just going to keep saying it over and over. I started the game out with two fumbles, gave the ball away and that gave them all the momentum they needed to go and take off. I want to say I’m sorry, and this one is one me. I need to be better for this team.”

The Cardinals used Elliott’s two fumbles for touchdown drives of 54 and 27 yards and a 14-0 lead.

Elliott now has five fumbles this season, losing four. No other running back even has three.

Prescott was crying as he was carted off the field. The 27-year-old was then taken to a local hospital and is expected to undergo surgery for a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle on Sunday night.

OMG!!! DAK!!!!!!!! what a horrific injury!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prescott was running against the New York Giants when he was dragged down from the side by cornerback Logan Ryan. His leg got pinned underneath him awkwardly as Ryan wrestled him down, and as he sat on the ground after the tackle the television audience got a clear look at his right ankle bent in a way it shouldn’t bend
