My husband and I relax our calorie intake on the weekends. We try to make good choices, and we exercise, but we don't pay as much attention. Plus, we usually have a cheat meal once a weekend as well. It's worked for us so far.

Saturday protein drinks or hot cereal for breakfast. The gym is a must at least "60" minutes. Lunch & Dinner "High Protein" no carbs, sugar, or fats...

Sunday morning "Light Breakfast of my choice not to exceed 500 calories" Moderate eating for the rest of the day not exceeding 1400 calories total.

On weekend in particular, I try to stay below 1350 calories because those are not gym days.......

Final weight goal of 140 pounds & maintain my fitness with excellent blood sugar management.

Weekends are definitely my downfall as well. I have a good schedule during the week but once the weekend hits it's birthday parties, basketball games, swim meets.....makes it difficult to watch my eating and even harder to sqeeze in the exercise. I have been keeping myself accountable though - we can be perfect all the time!

Good strategies, focusing on something specific like the water intake. I've done better on the weekends lately but I did go out last weekend and had too many rum and (not diet) Cokes. I usually get more exercise on the weekends too, though, so I hope that balances things out a little!

I'm trying really hard to make Saturday my "free" day. But Fridays are tough. I am just so happy on Friday night when the work week is done and all I want to do is grab a glass of wine. That's my first mistake. I find that as soon as I drink some wine, my will power is gone and I eat way more than I had planned. I need to work on that! So right now my weekend goals are to still drink all my water and exercise both days then I don't feel bad about indulging a bit more.

Me too, Laurmi! It''s so easy to get caught up in socializing, and one drink turns into 5! I really struggle on the weekends because I want to relax and not stress about calories. I try to compensate throughout the week and so far I'm still losing weight so it must be working OK. =)

CLF748 you crack me up! LOL Liquid beverages are my demons on the weekends as I am a fan of rum & Coke. I took one of my boys to shoot pool and thought I'd have a little Amaretto sour and holy cow that blew my calorie total for the day!

The other thing that's really hard is a buffet, of any kind. My family like pizza buffets and family buffets and I have this mindset that I must eat enough to make it worth my money.

So far my weekend track record has improved a little I really have to make up for by food choices with extra exercise to burn it off!

I also tend to do better on weekends. I have a late breakfast, a snack for lunch, and I take time to cook something good and healthy for the evening. If I go out, I will order a small beer, have max two, don't touch the chips, and it doesn't hurt my weight loss.

Less stress, more time to go for a walk... Weekends are not such a problem. It's more difficult if I have friends over or celebration, but I wear my nice tight jeans to remind me not to overeat, I enjoy with moderation and it's ok.

I don't really allow myself any free day. If I overeat, I still keep track of the food, contemplate the number, and just keep going. My problem with "free days" is that it's like giving up smoking, but allowing yourself one a week: you never really break the habit and never teach yourself to fully enjoy another lifestyle. I see that the more healthy I eat, the less attractive the pizza and co. become.

The funny thing is, I do better on weekends than during the week, mostly because I sleep longer which makes the day shorter (=less time to be tempted to eat) and have more time to work out.
During the week I get up at 6 and am on my feet all day and it wears my resolve off because I get stressed and I am the type of person who eats when stressed...

I have trouble with this too. Friday is our pizza night with the kids. It's something we all enjoy, but then it's Saturday and my routine is all out of wack and I find I'm giving myself three "free days" instead of just one. When just starting out would you suggest no free days for a couple of weeks to get your body used to better eating?

I have this same issue. I've decided that Saturdays are my free day and if I need to go a little over on Sunday also, it's ok. The rest of the week I work hard to stick to my plan. Though, my body is getting used to not pigging out on everything and last weekend I just couldn't indulge like I normally do because of it.

So I think once your body is trained, the weekends won't be that bad :)

I found I had this problem when I started. Then I decided to allow myself a free day. Not a day to go hog wild and eat everything in site, but one day where I would relax a little more. If it meant not tracking my food for the day, then I'd do that. Or not exercising. Whatever. But only one day a week. I found myself working hard on the other 6 days, putting the best off until last. Eventually, I saw that things like not tracking my foods, or not getting my water was hindering my progress on my free day, and I didn't mind compromising more - sticking closer to the plan, still giving myself the leeway to indulge a little if I felt I wanted it.

It's a small way to compromise - between the lifestyle that you've lived to get you here, and the new lifestyle you are creating now.
