I am new to this, but I have 2 cats that I adopted and they are the best thing that I come home to. The strangest thing that my two cats have habits is when laying in bed my girl cat will stand right in the path of the television and my boy cat will snuggle right up against me like a sandwich. I will post pictures later on.

Sage has developed a new habit. I sit out with my laptop in the living room, on the futon couch. I use a pile of pillows as the armrest for my right arm so I can use the mouse (mouse and laptop rest on snack tables). Sage has decided that the pile of pillows is his - so he likes to try and see how much room he can take up on them. This usually doesn't leave me much room for my arm. In fact, he's hogging the pillows as I type!

Cilantro keeps crying at the door. She is an indoor cat, but she wants to sit out on the porch. If we let her do that, she might go chew on the spider plant or just sit in the sun. But she won't stay outside unless BF is at the door. (She's a daddy's girl). If a truck drives by or he steps away from the door, she shoots back in to the safety of the house!

Juneau wants to go out, but we are not sure if she would know to come back in, so she is not allowed out.

I'll start with Izzy. When she wants to be petted, she meows and I go to pet her, but she won't sit still (hence, her new nickname Wanda the Wanderer). I finally just lay her down on the carpet, and start petting & scratching her. Then, using her claws on the carpet, she goes in circles or straight lines. She can end up in a completely different room.

Now, BeBop, he likes to race and beat me wherever I go. The dining room table is right next to the kitchen, so whenever I'm headed that way, he RUNS and flys onto the table. Then, while I'm in the kitchen and heading out, he peaks his head around and meows (technically he opens his mouth but nothing but a squeak comes out because he doesn't talk much) because he always thinks he should get a treat.

Hm...I haven't ever given Sage a toilet paper roll to play with. Maybe I'll try that with him soon and see if he can figure out what to do with it. He does love tissue paper, so maybe he'll like it.

Jill - yup, Bianca's also fond of clothes - especially just washed and hanging on the clothes horse kind ^_^ I'm beginning to think that anything moving is very interesting to her. She's still very young so everything is a toy, right? even my hair! lol. As long as she's not destroying something or hurting us/herself it's very entertaining.

Juneau - I've yet to meet a cat who didn't like toilet paper rolls.

Sage loves getting into bags and chasing those plastic milk rings around the house. He's prone to getting his head through the bag handles though, thus getting stuck and freaking out, so he's only got access to handle-free paper bags to play with.

Venus also loves our clothes. I was changing after work yesterday and my skirt was on the bed for about 2 seconds before it had been claimed by her. I didn't get to put it away for a couple of hours.

DASARMEHASEN that's so true. Venus likes any type of bag. We have a picture of her in a gift bag with just her little face poking out the top. As long as the kitten isn't eating the bags she'll be alright but maybe keep an eye on her if you hear a rustling.

My kitten seems to be developing an obssession with plastic bags (the grocery kind). If there is one within her reach she'll play with it, roll on it, bat it, etc. This morning, my lunch almost took a dive down a flight of stairs because I had it packed in a plastic bag! lol. We're trying to keep them out of her reach though. Don't think it's the safest of toys.

Miechi, my persian, likes to play fetch with the plastic rings off of milk containers. He will bring it to you, meow, and wait for you to throw it so he can bring it back to you.

I have a touch lamp on my night stand. Bug used to touch it to wake me up. If that did not work, he would chew on plastic. If that did not get me up, he would stand on my chest and very lightly paw at my face. I miss my love Bug!

Venus is full of quirks. We love when she is sleeping and starts to snore. It actually woke Mark up one night!

She gets some shredded chicken for supper everyday (a habit started long before I came on the scene) and she's so excited to get it. She knows the whole routine, Mark washing his hands and then getting a plate from the cupboard and then the chicken from the fridge. If I'm holding her, as soon as the chicken comes from the fridge, she starts squirming as hard as she can to get free. And then one of us has to stay there and watch her eat it. She'll stop if we go away.

Back in the day she used to wake Mark up by gently inserting one claw and cutting the inside corner of his mouth. He'd wake up with blood in his mouth and she's all innocently saying, well if you're up, you could feed me now. This happened pretty regularly until one morning he was mostly awake but his eyes weren't open and he felt the claw go in and he opened his eyes and Venus stopped and very carefully withdrew her claw. And it hasn't happened since.

And once Mark tried to break her of the habit of waking him up at 6am on the weekend. She sat beside the bed and said "meow" every 30 seconds or so for 3 hours before he gave in and got up, without having slept for those 3 hours. Now one of us just gets up the first time she meows and feeds her breakfast and that gives us a reprieve until a more reasonable time.

I used to have a Russian Blue mix named Bug (he had the name when I got him). He would not let me read the newspaper. As soon as I opened it and started reading, he would paw the paper down! Without fail!

That's what I love about my kitties...they each have their own unique personalities & quirks, but the one that really stands out is my Miya. I miss her. She was our food stealer. She would sit beside us, watching food move from our hand to our mouth, ever patient. If we let down our guard for one moment, quick as a flash she would hook the food with her Claw of Doom & try to steal it. She managed to hook a whole slice of pizza once. She also had a meow that sounded like a 80 yr old woman who had been smoking all her life. We considered making a Christmas album titled "to the tune of Miya". Her tail also had a mind of it's own, and would whip around at random moments. She also had the most awful warble she'd make when she'd knock a toy under the fridge and she'd cry for one of us to get it out.

She was at least 16 or 17 when she finally crossed the bridge, and she was playful as a kitten until the last 6 months of her life.

If you are sitting at the computer or in the living room, Boo Boo jumps up right in front of you and headbutts you in the face and runs her head all over your face - I guess that's a hint to give her a rub. She doesn't purr, but really enjoys a good head rub.

My newest furbaby, Juliet, is still kind of shy and hides under the bed. If I come in the room, she will come out and meow until I sit down on the floor at which point she head butts my hand and sticks her tushy in the air so that I can rub her hindquarters - purring loudly all the time.

Pancho - my only male follows me from room to room and races me to the bedroom when it's time to go to sleep.

Janie - constantly "helps" me on the computer - she lays across the keyboard and nuzzles my hand - she looks so peaceful that I can't bare to move her - even when I ahve no circulation in that arm.

Bella - is still a little skittish and doesn't like to be touched, but she knows her name. She is the only one that will look right at me when I call her name - when I ask her if she wants treats, so usually responds with a "mew".

Awahi, blinking is a sign from cats that they're happy & that they don't find you a threat at all. It's a sign of friendship, & if you blink back, even better. :)

Dublin loves to sleep on my hip, too, or my belly. Sometimes he curls up, & sometimes he's stretched across as if he's flying. So cute! :)

Blessings,
Michelle :)

Bug was my hip cat at night and my shoulder cat in the evening. I still miss him! Juneau is my Maine Coon and she sometimes will sleep on my hip like a sphynx, if Cilantro lets her get on the bed.

Cilantro is BF's cat, Juneau is an equal-opportunity lover and Bug was mine...

Every night my princess will come lay on my hip or chest like sphinx.. and she paces around the room making sure the other cats do not come near her territory. If I havent been spending enough time with her she will pull my hair in the middle of the night to wake me up.

Our kitty Andies drools everywhere when You are loving on him. We know he is in his happy spot when he is drooling.

Dusky like to sleep on our shoes in the shoe box. He is our quiet kitty as far as that goes.

Autumn, Well what can I say about her. She is the gremlin kitty for the kitchen. When we are in the kitchen she will rub up against You and the garbage can wanting love. She blinks alot at You when She look too. Shes to cute for words.

Ashy, just is Ashy. Hes our big main Coon. Ashy and Princess like to pick fights with each other. I guess its a territory thing beings that she is mine and he is my hubbys.

we just adopted a kitten today from the spca and so far her quirk seems to be finding the most obscure hiding places possible in our house... (she was a stray, and actually, she doesn't mind being petted or picked up but doesn't seem to understand it yet). will post pictures once she's a little less shy.

I have 4 wonderful cats...Sunshine and Reign are brother and sister, Sunshine is all black and Reign is a white cat with spots of gray tabby that look like rain clouds...Reign is 21 pounds and is an emotional eater... if we do not want him on our laps when he wants to be there, and we tell him no...he goes and eats...if he is playing with the other kitties and he can't catch them...he eats...if he hears the girls eating...he'll go shove them out of the way and eat...even if he JUST ate...I'll explain why he is so fat in a sec...

Sunshine is the boss of the house...she is very proper and likes to sit in high places, hold very still and watch you...then you get a feeling that something is watching you and you look around and, yup, there she is, watching you...lol...she also loves the bathroom and freezer...we call those her dirty spots...while she likes to be pet and loved...only in the bathroom and when the freezer door is open(our freezer is on the bottom not the top) she likes her love rough...the harder and faster the better...but if you try and do that anywhere but in those places, she looks at you like...uhhhh...no you perv! lol

Then there is Autumn...a tortie...need I say more? lol...we got her a year after we got Reign and Sunshine. She is the crazy teenager...she LOVES to be rubbed...she will tolerate being held...but she would rather not be held or in your lap...but you can sit next to her and rub her all you like....there are 2 spots in the house where she stretches out and you rub her body as fast as you can and she just loves it...gets her all fired up...then she takes off when you are done and runs all around the house meowing...now She is the reason that Reign is 21 pounds...see Autumn has to have food down all the time...or she will meow and scratch at the doors that are closed...she was so bad about it she completely destroyed our carpet under our door...even when there bowl is half full....she will let me know that it is getting too low...Why don't we let them in the bedroom while we sleep? Because Reign REALLY loves my husband and will get into my husbands face ALL night long and purr in my husbands face...hubby turns over and Reign will crawl over and get right back in his face and purrrr...lol...so hubby gets no sleep...anyway, I have tried everything I can think of to keep Autumn happy with having food (even putting the food where only the girls could reach it since Reign is too fat....slowly got him down to 16 pounds, but then he discovered how to get up there...so had to put the food back down...ugh...

Anyway, then there is my newest edition, Kepi. She was a rescue at barely a week old! She is now 3 months and doing wonderfully! :) My husbands work discovered that a stray cat had kittens in their shed in May...they put a box out there with food for the mama, and the next time they went in to check on her, something had eaten 2 of the babies...ewww...I know...she moved the other 3 else where in the shed...the boss called their vet and asked what to do...and he said to take the babies and raise them ourselves...the mama was too scared to be caught...anyway...one of the people took the 2 bigger babies and my husband called me and said...hun...she is really small and weak...and you are gonna be up alot taking care of her...and I just couldn't say no...I wasn't gonna let her die out there! So we adopted her...she was only 7oz and her eyes were barely open. I spend alot of time waking up to take care of her and had some scary moments, but now she is so wonderful...and a really lover...when she is playing with something by herself on the hard floor like the kitchen or bathroom, you'll hear this little growl every so often...it is soooo cute...and she only does it when she is playing by herself...her and autumn and the best of friends and love to play! and when Kepi (means tempest...or storm) is done playing, she will meow at you to pick her up and she instantly starts purring...if we are on the couch she'll just get right on us and demand love NOW...lol...I'll look down at her when she is in my lap and say...I love you little baby...and she meows and stretches out her front paws like she is trying to touch my face...hehehe...melts my heart!

Anyway, now you know my wonderful family of cats and all their crazy quirks! :)

When the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change, then you will change!

Sage has developed a new quirk. He snuggles up against me on one side, grooms my elbow, then sleeps. He will also just randomly lick my elbows if they're in range. I can't think of why he's doing it either, it's pretty cute but I can't really be that tasty.

Juneau does something similar: I have a stack of boxes in a corner and she sits on the boxes demanding attention if I pass.

There are so many ;-) hard to pick just one, but Dakota likes to sit on the half way (separates the den from the kitchen), so when you walk by, he smacks you. It's just his way to get attention, so people will play with him--no claws out when he does it, so we know it's just a game.

Peshtigo likes to walk all over me. There's nothing quite like having big paws stepping on you in the middle of the night... then he flops down on me, and I get a "Peshtigo blanket". Nice, warm, Maine Coon blankie...

Snickers likes to curl up in my arms when I'm at the computer desk. :) And I do mean in my arms: she will come over my shoulder, and curl up on my chest, with her head as close to my chin as possible, but if I don't support her and hold her, she'll fall right off. This is her major snuggle spot. ;)

Jumping up on me in the morning or the middle of the night. Whenever he feels the need for attention from me. It's always when I'm sleeping that he wants attention. I think he gets a thrill at me jumping when that 20 something body jumps on my stomach.

I love it when Dublin blinks at me, but that's a good sign. If a cat's sitting there looking at you with squinty eyes, it means he's happy & all's right with the world. When they blink at you, it means they like you & mean no harm. I blink at Dublin & he blinks back.

Blessings,
Michelle :)

George winks @ people for attention.
Punky climbs on my hubby's lap if he ignores her. One time she got up on his shoulders b/c he wasn't giving her attention.
We had a cat staying w/ us that would tap on us until we petted her or if we stopped petting her.

Our youngest cat Salem will groom you. If you pet her or put your face near hers she will begin to lick your forehead or cheek. She also grooms the other cats often times by putting them in a head lock and licking their head. They get groomed whether they want it or not.

Simon likes to sleep with me and my husband. He usually sneaks in between us gets under the covers and then puts his head on the pillow and sleeps like he is a person.

Marvin climbs into my husbands lap whenever he sits down to have pet time. It doesn't matter if he already gave her loving. If he gets up and then sits back down he has to love her all over again.

Sage likes to snuggle up beside me on the couch when I'm on the computer. He then gets himself into a wonky position and starts snoring away like there's no tomorrow! He also rolls around on the floor when he wants attention and seems to think that opening my door every morning (he succeeds when I forget to put something there to keep it from opening) at 6am for food is a good thing.

Tabi will go downstairs (where there is just an entry way and no other rooms) and holler and scream as if she is lost. I have to yell to her and say I am up here and then usually I have to go over to the stairs and when she sees me she'll come running up. (She also does her loud hollering when I go out into the garage to do laundry. The neighbors must think we are torturing her.)

Spooner is kind of dopey and he is really scared/leary of things - like I can have a purse or bag on the ground and he will crawl real slow up to it, stick out his paw and smack at it a few times. The best part is the look on his face - like OMG what is that?! (I like to imitate him, because it is just so funny.) He does it all the time to all kinds of things, even things that he has seen before. He is an odd one.

Every night when my husband and I get into bed, BOO! comes into the bedroom before we turn out the light and jumps on the bed and onto my chest. He never jumps on my husband (could it be because I'm softer?).

Sometimes I pretend to ignore him by holding a magazine in front of my face so that I can't see him. He then takes his paw and taps on the magazine to get my attention and then for about ten minutes, I have to scratch his neck, cheeks and the top of his head until he gets drowsy. Then he jumps off the bed and goes to his favorite spot to sleep until morning!

I'm not sure when we started this ritual but he now has me looking forward to it every night!

emoticon I love these kind of topics! Who of us here doesn't love talking about our little darlings, eh?

SacredMulet, my Dublin does exactly the same thing. One night, when I'd given him too much catnip (2 doses - I just wasn't thinking! It's true that there IS too much of a good thing!), he did this for a long time 'til 12:30, 1 AM, & he kept running & flying onto my bed & then onto me - big, heavy thumps! - & then off again. I gave up trying to sleep 'til he suddenly flew onto my bed & crashed on my hip. I laugh now....

I love it when Dublin's sleeping & his breath comes out in tiny little noises. Not snoring, really.

He'll roll onto his back when I get home after hours away, & he head butts me & winds around my legs, rubbing his cheeks against me as well. He sniffs at shoes & bags, & he'll roll all over them. He, too, will place his paws gently on me if he wants some attention, & he'll sit patiently - to a point - for me to go to a place where he can join me on my lap for a good ol' Dublin cuddle - THE best cuddles anywhere! :D

He's also quite photogenic (my SP album has proof of this!), & he'll usually pose long enough for me to get some good shots. emoticon

Blessings,
Michelle :)

Smokey is like a kid when I am on the phone- he will paw at me and whine for attention.

I also love, when I am holding him, he puts his head down on my shoulder or presses his cheek to my cheek.

Well, Moe, Chopin, Yang, Larry, Socrates, Cleopatra, Garfield, Junior and Sister all have to be around me constantly. They have to either cuddle against my arm, crawl on top of my chest, or sleep at my head. Yin, Larry and Junior reach for me by touching my face if I'm not petting them according to their needs.

And Little Pumpkin is still small enough (only two months old) to sleep in the tiny water dish if it's empty...like she's letting me know it's time to refill it.

Joe, Fluffy, Tortie are "feral" as in they're not readily friendly with anyone but me.

The ten kittens just want to play! Preferably around 2 am!!!

Gussie likes to sleep across the top of the bed. And he likes at least one of my hands to be on him. He usually does this as I'm falling asleep and as soon as I'm asleep, he'll move to the foot of the bed.

Sam will head butt me until I give him what he wants. It could be a bite of what I'm eating or just some plain old affection.

Mr Blackwell likes to reach for me, when I'm in the shower. When he's excited, he'll stand on his back legs in a doorway and jump using his front paws to guide himself up the doorway straight. He likes to "hug" by placing his paws on either side of my next and tucking his head in my neck

Tasha is 12 she was born old. Never does anything but lay around. Never begs or ask for attention but well accept it when you give it to her.

Willow the kitten from.... is still mostly a pain. But sometimes when she is not biting or scratching when I pick her up behind the shoulders and look her in the face she well gently touch my face with her paws.

And the other day she got up on my shoulder and licked my face. Scared me to death but she has done it again since then. I hope she never stops doing that. Never been licked by a cat before. lol

Tallulah's is her nose kisses while I'm attempting to sleep and her bringing her toy balls in the bed, while I'm also sleeping. I may find 2, 3, or 4 of those balls or her favorite little stuffed animals.

Scarlett and her tapping with her paw on my arm, while I'm reading or watching t.v. She also will rub against my leg while I'm working on the computer and do this continuously until I give her the attention she is needing.

Scout is her running extremely fast after me when she realizes I am heading into the bathroom, to do know, you know... or her nightly ritual of plopping on my bed next to my pillow to call it a night. Sometimes she doesn't even wait for me because if I'm staying up too late, there she goes ready to call it a night.

Whitey has never meowed much until the last year or so when all of her health issues started coming to a head. Until then she would respond only with a trilly sounding mrrrurp.

Once when I was in the waiting room at the vet I had to use the rest room, so I left her in the crate next to the chair in which I had been sitting. The tech came out and called "Whitey" and she responded with a little meow. Too bad I missed it, but the tech got a chuckle out of it.

beetlejuice reaches up and 'pats' us and meows at us when we are in the bathroom, doesn't matter what we are doing in there, he doesn't seem to like it no matter what. He also suckles on my neck like a baby. He is 4 but he very much still a kitten.

Mortisha sits on my husbands lap and will look all the way backward at him to pet her, it's too freakin' cute. She's a himilayan so god forbid she do anything 'too' cute you know what I mean?

Gordy 'sighs' when he is irritated. I know it's not necessarily a cutesy thing, but I think it's awesome.
Beetlejuice will be bothering him and he will just 'sigh' about it. So funny!

Of course, each of thinks that our own beloved kitty(s) is the most darling and adorable and cute of them all, but what particular quirks make you melt into a puddle of goo?

I have three fluffy felines, and each of them has one.

My Bagel, a gray tabby boy with some aggression issues if he's startled, turns into a little angel and does what I call his "meerkat purr." It's a vocal purr done only when he's cuddling with me and completely content.

His sister, Raquela, likes to politely request attention when I'm working on the computer by standing up against the computer chair and delicately tapping my arm with her paw. She will stand there and pat me gently to let me know she wants me.

Their other sister, fluffy black Bastis, sucks her thumb. Well, she would, if she had a thumb. But she does curl up in my lap and suck a toe (or two) on her front paws. Cutest thing ever!
