I just finished a full week on phase I from the WM class. I started out planning meals based on what the book said. I tried out curvescomplete.com and found it to be too difficult to navigate. Meals weren't divided by food plan or phase, too hard to get the right balance. I transferred calorie goals to SP and used a combination of meal plans and foods I found that fit my plan (high protein/low carb). I did a lot of turkey burgers, chicken, healthy lunchmeat (found some @ sams that were cheap, low cal, low carb, high protein and tastes great). I spend 2 hours at the grocery store with a list of what I could and couldn't have (food/calorie etc) wise at each meal and had the recipe suggestions with me. I thought my husband was going to kill me 45 minutes in to the shopping trip, but I came home with foods that I could eat, were filling and I didn't struggle nearly as much as I thought I would. I need to eat more veggies, but I drank a ton of water daily and was within my ranges almost daily. I meet with the nutrition lady @ Curves tomorrow morning, so I'll see how this week of eating paid off.

Hi all, Well, Today is my year anniversary at Curves and I haven't been able to be there since Dec. 29th. I didn't feel good a few mornings and then it's been way to cold for me to go out at all. I'm talking 30's and some days a low of 27. Yes, this is Florida. I have asthma and copd, so I cannot afford to take a chance and have an asthma attack and end up in the hospital which has happened too many times because of my stubbornness in the past.,,wanting to prove I could do it all. Well, maturing to age 61 has made me smarter! emoticon I won't even be going to church for the second Sunday in a row and I hate to miss that. This weekend we are getting Artic air with wind chills very cold. Some parts of Fl may see sleet or some SNOW!!! Unbelievable! Then by the next weekend we'll be near 70 again.

I took the class a couple of years ago and didn't like the menus they suggested so I would sub something with the same nutrients. I really watched my portion control. All I know is the first week I was eating so much I thought I would explode. That was because I was used to not eating breakfast or the snacks. Now I try and eat a good breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks a day.

Angel...woo hoo - 200 workouts! WTG!

I am finishing week one of the Curves Weight Management Program. I 'have' to do it because I am the new instructor.

It has always made sense to me...but I had a mental roadblock...so when they asked me to teach, I said yes...and decided to go to work learning how to do it.
This is Day four, and as of this morning, I've lost 3 pounds!!! And I haven't been able to do Curves like I'd like!

If your center has the Weight Management Course...take it! It's free! And buy the book, at least (or give three referrals!).

Anyone experiencing that the Curves work out is becoming too easy? Is there a way to make it more intense in a club that is not going to have anything other than the basic machines and recovery boards? I love the club but have been thinking I may need to move to Gold Gym.

Didn't make it to Curves my usual 4 to 5 times last week. Only made it once. Looking forward to getting back there tomorrow. Have to get his 2.2 pounds I gained over Christmas off. I had a good workout a Curves this morning but they canceled water aerobics on me because the pool was only 81 degrees. Someone forgot to turn on the filter. I took my car in to be serviced so I had to kill an hour. Well I did that by walking all over town and even bought a new swim suit.

We have had several cars broken into at the Curves parking lot and they caught the guy this morning. When I drove in the lot there were three police cars there. I got the last parking place. The little creep, that's what he gets for picking on us women!!!!

I made it to Curves today for about 45 minutes. Good workout. Some heavy lifting at work and also working with heavy tools (power screwdriver). I feel like my one bicep is getting a workout at least. kim

I went in yesterday about 8am, got crowded around 8:30.............think it was my 8th visit since I joined the end of last month.
Planned on going this morning at 5:30, but have terrible cramps, so resting up now and going to try to get in there this afternoon.
I have an MRI tonight at 9pm for my back. Seems my lumbar is pinching off my nerve to my leg.
I am sure losing weight, working out, and going to the chiropractor will all be a great part of feeling better all around.
Think I ganed 6 pounds over these holidays, NOW its time to get serious and change my LIFE!
I WANT so much to get OUT of the 150's. I know it doesn't sound like much, but when your only 5 foot, its ALOT!
You all have a Great Workout day, and I am glad I joined, and joined this GROUP!

Guess what girls??? Curves numbered workout shirts are going to be available in January. I saw a picture of the new designs and they are really nice. Since I already have the 300 thru 1000 shirts I thought I would start with the new ones when I hit 1100, 1200, etc. If your Curves does not offer them ask the manager about them, maybe she can order them if her members want them. I had a good workout today then went to water aerobics.

Sounds like you had a very nice Christmas, Angel. You will have to share that book with us after you get though it, might be quite interesting.

Yes, most Curves are closed for several days this week. Hoping everyone gets their calories burned by other means. It's not the time to loose that motivation, although it's also not good to stress over anything that was eaten over the holiday. Tomorrow is a new day!

Hi everyone. Our Curves is closed until Monday. At least I got 3 days in this past week.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a nice anniversary Christmas Eve and attended our church service, and I sang in the choir. We sang "Mary Did You Know?" I also helped our minister's wife and friend pass out the candles for the singing of Silent Night as we all gathered in a huge circle around the outside of the sanctuary. What was special was I had the chance to hand my husband a candle and kiss him at the same time! I am so blessed with these 30 years with him.

Christmas Day was quite with the 2 of us and our kitty Thor. Thor got 2 new catnip toys and he's been acting stoned at times! He loves the little burlap bag of catnip even better than the furry catnip filled mouse. We did take a gift over to a friend who is a widow. Her family was coming today to see her from Jacksonville. She wanted to stay home yesterday..she and her little dog Baby. She gave us a delicious small loaf of zucchini bread with nuts she baked and a trail mix she made. Mmm good!

I'm going to start reading a book I got for Christmas called "The Devious Book For Cats by Fluffy and Bonkers. It looks really good and funny as written by the 2 cats.

Getting ready to walk out the door on my way to Curves then water aerobics. Have a great day everyone.

My Curves workout was great and water aerobics felt so good after going to Curves. I think I am going to make that my workout routine on Mon, Wed and Fridays from now on.

Way to go Gretchen! Those are some major calories burned!

Shoveling does burn calories...and at times can be a really good workout, just watch for the sore muscles later and the back strain. That's the worst.

I admit, I missed Curves yesterday. I always feel so guilty when I miss. My son and I had lots of errands to get done and I wanted to spend time with him before he heads to his dads for Christmas.

My Curves is closed from 2-3 on Mon thru Fri. Mon thru Thurs their hours are 6:30-7, Friday 6:30 to 6 and Saturday they are only open from 8-10. They are closing early on Christmas eve and will be closed Christmas, Sat and Sun, the same for New Years week.

I have not been to Curves for almost two months and boy did it feel good. I burned 362 calories. I decided I am going to go to Curves on Monday, Wed and Fridays again.

I went today and got in a 40 min workout and 5 mins of stretching. I felt really good afterward. Also took a short walk up my driveway, which is a quarter mile long hill. that's because i couldn't get the truck up it. Kind of funny actually. kim

My Curves is in Alexandria VA but I'll be using one in Chapel Hill NC over the holidays. It's been a great joy. Unfortunately my cold and snow have kept me back but I'll be back at it in no time. I have been shoveling snow and that counts for something!!

I've overeaten b/c I was happy, tired, angry or bored but never b/c I was too grateful.

Yeah I got the business card with the hours on a magnet on my frig but didn't look at it until noon. I was bummed because I really wanted to go. I won't make that mistake again. In fact I'll never forget their Saturday hours again. darn it that they are closed today but I will get my workout in just the same. kim

Hi Kim! Glad you are with us and enjoy your Curves workouts. Most Curves are closed in the afternoons for a couple hours. I grabbed a couple business cards and keep one on my desk and one in the car so I can double check the hours. This after driving there and finding them closed!

good afternoon everyone, I'm Kim, thanks for the warm welcome to the Curvy crew. I'm a new curves member and i love it! I started Monday and went Tuesday and then started a new job Weds so i didn't make it the rest of the week. I thought they were open this afternoon but I read the schedule wrong and they closed at noon so I didn't make it today.
Back on Monday with vigor! My curves is in Saxonburg PA. Such a friendly group. I can't wait to check back in on Monday. I'm so not ready for Christmas but I'll get some more stuff done today.

I currently weigh 171.4. I hope to be back down to 165 by the end of the year and then onward in 2010. great to meet everyone!

Waist November 18th -33 Today- 31
Hips November 18th -46 Today- 44
Bust November 18th -41.75 Today- 41
Thighs November 18th 44 Today- 43
Abdomen November 18th -44.5 Today- 41
Upper Arm November 18th -21.5 Today- 20
BMI November 18th -28 Today - 26.79
Body Fat % November 18th 40.40 Today- 39.5

When they hand it to you on a sheet of paper or you log it into Sparks, it show your achievements no matter how small.

I have gotten the best Christmas gift, and I gave it to myself. The gift of health.

Hey I rejoined Curves because they finally allowed us to come in early with a keypad pass. Whew! I've been going every day at 6am and love it. I did a double circut on Sat. but my legs were so tired I had to skip Sun so for me the usual double times around is all I can do. I do stay on a few machines double time. We're a jolly lot in the early am but it's not a problem to stay on the machines a bit without throwing anyone off track.

I've overeaten b/c I was happy, tired, angry or bored but never b/c I was too grateful.

Going through some stressfull crap right now.
Did make it to ~curves tho this morning and did 3 rounds in the circuit.
Feel better, and tired.
