Hope you don't mind two posts, I came here originally to thank you for the #1 spot in fitness.
So thank you, it was a happy shock for me. I am finally getting there with my fitness program and feeling so good. This was like a trophy for me. Thanks again!

My tip is to find something really special and active that you want to do.

I love camping, volunteering at state and national parks, Hawaii. So I went on line and found all three. The Volcano National Park has a volunteer need for people to help the turtles. It can be up to six months. Part of it is at a base housing, most of it is on site. Hike 7 to 10 miles with a 20 to 30 pound pack in and out, once a week.

Last December, I couldn't walk to the end of my driveway, now I can walk 4 or 5 miles, no longer use a cane, lost weight, my cholesterol, sugar and blood pressure went down and I am that much closer to the park. My goal is to spend 6 month there next year, starting in June. I am now retired and have the time, of course.

When you are a volunteer (they call them VIP) they treat you vey well, you get to see the park for free, you get to stay there for free, just a little work. I have volunteered in both State and National Parks and it was the greatest experience for me. Check out your local parks, they have needs for a few hours up and you help Hawaii, yourself and your park system. If anyone dives, check out various underwater studies going on there now, they need help. Also check your Parks and Recreation departments, they need volunteers also.

I like variety!!

It's been so wet lately that I haven't been able to take my walk to the back of the valley for fear of getting poured on. Yesterday I went for a 2 hour walk around Ala Moana. I didn't spend any money and it was a fun way to get some slow walking in!

I have found that eating a variety of foods keeps me on track. I get bored eating the same foods week after week and find myself wondering off my program. So spice up your menu and try new a different foods. It really helps!

Aloha! What is a tip you would like to share to help Motivate yourself to eat better or workout?

My tip: I have recently put a sports illustrated swimsuit model on my fridge. Sounds weird, but I definitely think twice before hitting the Ben 'N' Jerry's!!
