I'm pretty sure that "food grade" hydrogen peroxide (3%) is the regular stuff you can buy anywhere. It's the higher percentage kind (35%) that people have been using for healing and I think the government has taken it off the market because, as usual, they want to protect us from ourselves. Yes, that stuff can injure if one is not careful...but so can cars.

I keep basic first aid homeopathy on hand. Arnica, kali, calendula, traumeel.
For colds coming on, I use an herbal remedy that I can't read the name to try to stop it in its tracks.
I take a lot of daily vits. Some for high cholesterol, some to help out blood sugars, some for bone health, some for stress

Here are a few of my favorite things:

skin exfoliater:
mix 1 cup brown sugar with 1/3 cup olive oil & 1 teaspoon honey - this mixture can be used 3-4x per week

sinus infections:
I dab a couple of drops of tea tree oil under my nostrils (to help breathe easier). I then warm a mug of water and add a dollop of honey and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. I drink this mixture 3x per day. My sinus infection was eradicated in less than 24 hrs.

deep conditioning treatment:
Use regular hair conditioner - add a dollop of honey, a little olive oil (about a tablespoon), and several drops of tea tree oil. Add mixture to hair and cover with a shower cap. Leave on for 30 minutes. My hair feels really soft for a couple of days. Since this is a deep conditioner, I only do this once a week.

The first Friday in February is heart awareness day. Wear red and spread the word!

I don't recommend taking senna long term but only for a very short spell when uncomfortably constipated. Senna can be very rough on your intestines.

It is MUCH healthier for your body to eat foods that naturally help with elimination and especially avoid foods that aggravate it. Pasteurized dairy products will stop you up as do any refined ingredients in commercially packaged foods that include pasteurized dairy proteins. Also, one of the worst culprits is refined grains. Some people find that going off grains completely for a while will bring back comfortable regularity.

If you still eat bagels, inexpensive commercial breads, cakes, brownies etc. then you are risking intestinal stoppage.

One of the best veggies for loosening up things is asparagus. Eat it up!!

You want your body to function on its own...naturally and freely.

What's in my cabinet now:

Echinacea Supreme-- Immune System (colds, etc)
Tea Tree Oil-- topical antiseptic and antifungal treatment. I kept getting a mold growing on my bathroom ceiling due to not having a strong enough fan system. I put the tea tree oil up there and it hasn't come back since.
Vitamin C-- Immune System (colds, etc)
Zinc and andrographis-- both for immune system, usually take when I feel a cold coming on or start of a cold sore
Smooth Move-- contains senna, helps you 'go'
Goldenseal Root--multiple uses for various ailments
Silver (gel)-- anti-microbial, for sores...quicker healing, less scars
Biotin-- promote healthy skin, and hair growth

I recently ordered from Gaia (via Amazon) the Supreme Cleanse which I just started today, and their Glycemic Health blend to help maintain/regulate my blood sugar levels. I also ordered Elderberry Juice 5000mg, another for the immune system in liquid form for my girls, to help them stave off colds

I'm new to this team so I'm not sure where to put things...

Anyway, I just wanted to share that if you're looking for something to help with constipation or bloating, I've recently come upon Senna tea. I've had it in loose leaf and bag form. The trick is, let it steep for a couple hours on your counter, covered, and drink knowing that within 10-12 hours, you're gonna be... Happy! So yeah, I recommend it!

Have a great day everyone!

I added some fresh Rosemary (from a plant I brought inside for the Winter) to my noon time soup today. It added so much flavor and I'm hoping health too. Everyone in my household is at a various stage of the flu. I am, so far, feeling ok. I hope my Rosemary, soup, onions, garlic and sunshine keep me feeling the best possible. I'm hoping someone can take me to the store to pick up some groceries. I have plenty of dried beans, but I'm about out of fresh produce. I miss my independence ..... but I keep hope that health will continue to improve.
TMI .... sorry :-( Sincerely, Julia

I listened to sparkRadio today.
SparkRadio reminded me how important Vit. "D" is.
Sun was out a little bit. It was cold so I was bundled in my jacket but I did sit out in a chair for about 30 minutes until Kayley came out in shorts and a sweatshirt. I went in to get her back inside in bed. She has been ill with the FLU :-(
Every little bit of sunshine helps. It has been clouds for so long no wonder people are coming down with illness.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and happy.
Sincerely, Julia

Hi everyone.
Happy Tuesday.
I don't really have anything to type about today. It feels like a slow day. I'm trying for the first time homemade "Thyme" tea. I had picked up a herb plant before Christmas at Walmart. I decided to take some leaves and stems from plant and brew a cup of tea. I have no idea the "right" way to do this, so I just put a bunch in hot water and left for 10+ minutes. I'm enjoying a cup now. My body feels so fatigued today so hope this tea as well as a "protein" packed (greek yogurt) breakfast helps.
I wish everyone a pleasant day.
To Jenae .... it may help to know the purpose for taking Selenium. Maybe someone knows an alternative way. It seems like these levels very a lot depending on the soil a food is grown in, so I don't know how to track when using whole foods in your diet. I wish you health :-)
Sincerely, Julia

I find Essential Oils (EO) help in a variety of situations. I use caution and have found that actually "less is more". I have started making my own lotions to use as a carrier. I also enjoy using the EO in a bath with Epsom salts. Very easy :-)

Anyone had experience with pycnogenol? I read it was effective for preventing jet lag, so I thought I'd give it a try for Shift Worker Syndrome. It seems to have helped some, plus I've read it's a potent antioxidant.

I wouldn't use silver.
I bought a bottle of cidar vinegar a week ago as my old one was almost empty but haven't got back to using it. I used it to help with digestion but seem to have neglected it for months until I saw it at the supermarket and was reminded. I will take some today and consistantly

Thx....from what I've read so far (and I admit it's not much) I'm leaning towards staying away from Silver.

I have just started drinking Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg's) and just love, love, love it. It's helped me lose a few pounds, plus it takes the edge off my hunger and I find I'm snacking less. I was thinking to start a new thread just on ACV for people to report all the ways they use it, like it, love it, etc....

what do you think?

I agree. I've had amazing results with an herbal supplement I keep on hand for when I feel something coming on. It has echinacea, garlic, ginger and some other things I can't remember right now but it really works. I have tried silver and I haven't had good results with it yet. I do know others that swear by it though.

Yes. I agree. I have joint pain. I get some relief from Glucosamine/Chrondroitin compounds. Add MSM at least 4 grams to that and it helps even more.
I get some relief also from SAM-e. I've been taking 400 mg daily for about three years. I didn't realize how much it helped until I had to stop taking it for awhile because of going off supplements for pre-op prep for two weeks. I could barely get out of bed without it. It does take about 3 weeks or so to build up to where you can get some relief, though.
I do wish I could find something that gave more pain relief. The doctors just give me Vicoden, which just isn't the kind of thing to take for chronic pain.

I have only heard (and read) that tart cherries and their juice in concentrated form is full of antoxidants. I suppose, if a person suffers from joint and/or muscle inflammation caused by some kind of oxidative damage tart cherries might help. But there are other ways; or I should say, additional ways, that a person can attack this situation.

I do take the tart cherry juice in capsule form. I also do eat cherries. It helps a bit, I think. I read that it is not so much the tartness but the coloration that carries the pain relief and help. I don't know this for sure but that is just what information I have.

Usually I can get rid of something like this quickly before it really takes over - this one is very stuborn! I have C powder and have been taking it- but I will try gargling with it! I dont have any olive leaf ( but I do have a olive tree in the back yard - I wonder if making some Olive Leaf tea would help?) I also dont have any colloidal silver around the house. Also - you just reminded me - my daughter , who is a R.N. always says to gargle with salt water as it kills germs!
Thanks again!

I did seem to stave off an oncoming bout of crud that has been taking over my granddaughter's school, by gargling with a spoonful of colloidal silver a couple of times a day. First time I've done that. I got the sniffles a few times, and my throat was pretty scratchy and I was coughing a bit, but it went away. I took a teaspoonful three times a day and gargled and then swallowed it.
Another thing I used to do is powder about 500 mg of Vitamin C and mix it with a bit of warm water and gargle. That often held things off for a while.
Have you tried olive leaf extract? that often helps, as well, but one needs to start taking it very early.

I need your help - I have caught either a cold or flu that isnt going away. It started on Tuesday and felt like a head cold - sinus, runny nose, then it moved into my ears - not really pain just pressure, not I am developing a cough and fever. I have been taking a host of immune boosters- elderberry and C,zinc and just started on Oregano oil yesterday. Do any of you have any other suggestions of what has worked for you?

I try to be mindful of all of the beautiful things that God sends my way - sunrise, sunsets, birds, bunnies, flowers, friends and strangers and family!

Yes, IHerb is on the west coast. I am too and shipping is very fast.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Thanks everyone - for all the good info shared! I read/suscribe to Dr Mercola too - he has great information.
Going to check out IHerb - I think it is on the west coast and shipping should be faster to me than it is with Swansons- I really like them, but it takes a while for the shipment to get to me here in AZ!

I need to clarify my last post. That is IHerb gives free shipping on any order $20 or more if it doesn't weigh more than 10 pounds. I have used that option when i was in a pinch and needed something right now. You can get a lot of pills into 10 pounds for sure!
