Day 12

I made it through yesterday and plan to do the same today. Super work everyone - binges can be stopped before they are started.

Day 14

Wow - I am amazed at the days I am stringing together. I am amazed that through this injury I have managed not to turn to food.
I am so looking forward to the weekend, college friends are visiting, I will need to be diligent and mindful about my choices and not letting old habits sneak in.

Have a wonderful BF day! Be kind to yourself.

Day 3

Yes Goochie I also much prefer to track my food before I eat it whenever possible. It makes meals much less stressful because I'm not asking myself, wait, how many calories/fat/protein/carbs is this? Should I have eaten two of those? How far over have I gone? I guess a "normal" person would think, "hey, I'm full, I had enough, I'm gonna stop eating now," but whatever that is - my thermostat or whatever - seems to be broken so I have to plan everything out and tell myself, "well, this plate of food is X calories, and apparently that's what you're supposed to be eating, so when you get to X, stop."

Living the dream.

I nearly caved, but my husband said just the right thing and I put away the caramels I had planned to binge on. WooHoo!

This afternoon has been very hard, this morning at the store, I had seen a tray of cookies in the store that called out to me. I knew if I bought them I would eat the whole tray and go on to days of eating out of hand. I did not buy them and went home. At home I tried taking a nap, tried reading and then went for a walk. I got home and went on the computer looking up things that sounded interesting. An hour in to this hubby asked me to go to the store and get him some thing. As I started out the door I thought okay get the cookies I will just pig out and start my binge free day over again tomorrow. In the store on the way to the cookies I saw the Diet Coke display, I said to myself that's what I want not the cookies and did not buy those darn cookies. I am Binge Free Still!!!!!

Wrapping up day 19

Keep up the good work everybody.

Today, I went with my friends to Panera for lunch. I asked for their, "HIDDEN MENu."
Out of three choices, I selected a very low calorie salad.

I find it helpful to enter all the food I plan to eat BEFORE I EAT IT. I can watch the total
day's calories tally before I eat. Then I have to stay focused to follow my plan.

Day 13

Back to work after being off 9 days due to the calf injury. A little nervous, its been sore since increasing my activity. Gotta do what I gotta do. Tired didn't sleep well. These are triggers to my history with binge eating. Taking ownership up front. food planned and documented. Pray to get thru this day on all levels

Feel very full from dinner. I ate a bit more on purpose, trying out a recommendation for increasing metabolism and thus revving natural hunger I read about online. As long as I keep to my meals, I'm willing to try out the suggestions, which run along lines of how I've eaten willingly at times anyway. And I can say I didn't have many thoughts about nibbling this evening. I don't have to be free of those thoughts, but it was convenient.

I think this is day 6 complete.

Day 3 for me. Feeling good about that which is great since Ethel has been wreaking havoc on me with extra pain and swelling (she's soooooooo rude).

Keeping myself in check today OFTEN with my thoughts and emo's since I tend to fall into food cravings when pain is high.

Cosmic, I love your attitude. NBD. A binge is not the end of the world, and it certainly doesn't mean we are failures. Most "addictions" don't have to be let go of cold turkey.

Gong to overdo exercise this week! Using vacay time to check out gyms, etc Bye for now!

Did a little grazing in the afternoon, but limited. At 5:30 p.m., I went to the first fitness class I've been to in years. I did better than I thought I would! The gym is right in my neighborhood and has a 7-day $20 unlimited use deal. TONS of classes a day. Sweet! And the Y has a deal for 2 weeks free in Sept. I wish I had known that earlier. Lastly, a yoga studio also has a 2-week unlimited deal for $25. I want to take advantage of my break to get going on some fitness. I've been swearing off paying for anything but dance for several years after paying for a gym for 18 months without going, but I realize I enjoy some of the classes just for the fun of it, so I'm going to check out if anything will fit in my schedule and budget. I'm not attached, though. The weather is going to get nice for outdoor walks soon.

OOLALA- I also had what felt like 2 binge days in a row, and also was surprised with that. Doh! You are such a great example to me about how you can acknowledge that those mini cupcakes are delicious, but not worth the purchase. And oh my goodness, as much as my emo's tell me I can't, we actually CAN survive the cravings without caving : )))

I can plainly see now what the trap was for myself. Can anyone relate to the feeling that everything should be fine once the stress event/trauma/crisis is over with- but then react later? Yeah, that. Doh!

Hubbie came home from the wedding event on Sunday. He told me that the groom pulled him aside during the reception and told him that he wanted to have him as a groomsman, but he knew that I needed my handsome caretaker at home daily; so he didn't ask. He thought he was saving him from stress [which I'm sure he was], but that really made me feel guilty. Especially since hubbie said that even he was feeling left out during the wedding ceremony and festivities. I apparently allowed that to steer me toward the pantry. Pardon me but guilt is a b!tch.

VG- I kinda LOVE that you hollered that out to get your sanity back. It worked!!!!

Today is day 2. Yesterday was much better and today will be great too.

Have a fabulous day guys, filled with laughter. That's I'm striving for!

Lyla and Cosmic~ Hang in there!

Last night I worked late and thought I'd miss the gym so was just going to blow it off and stop for a donut or something sweet. Then I thought better of it and made my zumba class. Was truly hungry when I got home so had a reasonable snack and all was well.

I have a massage to do at lunchtime then I'm trading with another massage therapist after that...looking forward to it! I've already vacuumed the house and have laundry going and am going to stay busy to avoid binge thinking today.

Oh! And so stoked. GF and I are going on an Olivia cruise in less than 8 weeks and we just met another lesbian couple in Tampa through Couchsurfing that we are going to stay with before/after the cruise for a few days. We are going to have such a wonderful vacation!!

Today is Day 5...

Day 11

Had a routine day off activity wise yesterday - can feel it in my calf.A bit frustrated. I go back to work Thursday. I average 8000 steps in a 8 hr day, a little nervous. I don't want to undo what it has taken a week to do. Amazingly the food has been in its place. I have tried to keep to the lower side of my range because of not exercising. I have averaged @ 300-400 steps over the weekend.

Have a binge free day my SP buddies! emoticon

Day 9
Yesterday turned out quite well - over another hurdle at work but of course another one building up. I feel so much better without bingeing. I will do some yoga and then plan to walk on my lunch break

I'd go for skipping option C. For me, it's often easier to accomplish B after I've gone through A.

A bf day. The kitchen is closed.

Day 21

I dunno, some sad things happening around me right now, things changing in maybe not the way I'd like but not really anything I can do anything about, but anyway not as excited about this as I normally would be. Maybe just time for a good cry, I'm not sure what the conventional wisdom is these days: (a) let it all out; (b) be stoic; or (c) drink until you forget your name.

Living the dream.

Cosmic, I am convinced that we get the most benefit from waiting out the most difficult urges.

I'm feeling antsy myself. The weather is great, I'm off work, and I had these grand plans to get up and get going on projects this morning. Then I had a hard time sleeping, my neighbor woke me early after I had gotten back to sleep-in his defense, he probably thought I was already at work, since I don't keep him apprised of my break schedule!- and I have a little bit of a sore throat. And I found out I have to get some private lessons before being able to take some group exercise classes. I was hoping to check them out before committing to the more expensive private ones. It's for a kind of specialized exercise that helps work around and possibly even recover from minor injuries. Plus, I am trying to give up drinking coffee between meals on weekdays. I hate black coffee, and don't like tea. I'm actually trying to give up feeling I have to have anything but water between breakfast and lunch. I wouldn't recommend this to newbies! Mocha has saved me from bingeing literally a few thousand times over the past few years, but now it is interfering with my natural hunger signals, so I want to tough this out. emoticon

I am trying to eat more during the morning hours so I don't want to binge in the evening but it is hard I am so busy in the morning I just don't want to eat. Last night I got so tired because I had gotten up at 2 am that I was to tired to cook dinner, I ate a string cheese and went to bed super early.

I know what you mean about getting trigger foods when they are on sale, very hard not to do it. Today in the store I was given a coupon for $2 off candy that was on sale 2 for $6, very hard to pass up but I knew it would just be the start of a bad streak of binges.

Day 4

I'm feeling a bit challenged. I ate a bit more than I should yesterday, and mindlessly too, but it was only healthy stuff and Iwas able to stop before it turned into a binge. But I'm weak.
I'm having exams in 2 days for a university class I'm enrolled and it's been stressful and tiring recently... Keeping up with the streak helps, but it feels increasingly difficult because I'm just worn out and I want to lay somewhere with a loaf of bread on my lap and munch my way to oblivion.

Just checking in, and trying to hold on tightly.

I'm doing a 21 days no binge streak. FOR ME, it's been TREMENDOUSLY helpful to be accountable to other people and to compete against myself. Please join us if you think it'll work for you too: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes

Had a great weekend with good food and fun. Now...back to work. I am at the hospital today and have eaten breakfast and have my food for the day packed and ready to go.

A couple of you have posted about binging or near binging due to boredom...I totally understand! Have recently been working on staying busy with other things besides food.

Still having some issues with a rash and am looking forward to seeing my chiro/naturopath on Friday.

Day 4...

Day 10

Welcome Goochie - take it a day a time, when you string some days together it will feel great!
Lyla - way to go!

It was a successful weekend on many levels. A little stir crazy but the calf it feeling better. Lack of any exercise is crazy. Going to try some yoga today.

Beautiful crisp, autumnal day in the East - love this weather.

Have a great day.

Goochie, welcome and remember being binge free does not mean staying on a diet. Eat delicious meals, savoring them completely. Be strong and try not to expect that the desire to binge will just magically be gone. Each time it comes, we just have to get over the hump of desire. The urge will reach a peak and subside at some point. We just have to get better at waiting it out, a day or even a few hours at a time. IMHO, it is totally worth it, frustrations and all. Hope you agree!

It becomes more difficult to lose weight as you age.

This noxious habit of binging prevents me from wearing my favorite jeans.

21 days is so long!
