I am off in search of a rototiller today. We decided to plant a little garden this year. Haven't done a garden in a very long time. May be biting off more than I can chew but what the heck, it should be a learning experience.
So glad the weather is warmer. Winter was way to long for my tastes. I moved to TN to get away from the harsh Utah weather. It wasn't as bad as those winters thank goodness.
Have a great day.

I didn't remember last night, but I woke up plenty early this morning, like 3 hours earlier than I normally do. And I don't even have to be up this early. emoticon

Ran away from home for the weekend. Went and spent some time with my hubby in Vicksburg Mississippi. We walked quite a bit and just relaxed. He is a truck driver and has been gone for 3 1/2 weeks. Needs to keep running while there is work so if he gets close I go visit him. Nice to see some different spots around the south to. The weather was beautiful to. Hope everyone had a great weekend

I don't particularly like exercising either, but I love to read. So for every minute I spend on the treadmill or elliptical, I reward myself with time on the stationary bike because I can read while I bike. I look forward to those bike minutes. emoticon

We all get 24 hours a day-how are YOU going to use them?

40 Calories over isn't worth worrying about. I know I need to exercise or the scale goes up. I have to force myself to, I hate doing it for some reason. But that is my baby step, a half hour a few times a week shouldn't kill me. Staying away from the soda was a good step. Keep up the good work
Life has been boring around here. Not doing a thing but cleaning house. The weather is beautiful and that has helped my tiredness at least.

I messed up again. No, last night wasn't too bad and according to the tracker I went over about 40 or so calories, not too bad if I do say so myself :o). Although stepping on the scale, I gained another pound. I am praying that my cycle is starting so at least that'd explain the bloating (and I stayed away from the soda last night..whoo hoo!!). Baby steps, maybe tonight I'll get to exercise :o).

Hi everyone. I mostly new here, I did the introduce yourself thing, but a quick look. I'm 35, been married for 8 years, two beautiful girls one is 20 months today and the other is 5 (will be 6 next month). I need to get some motivation to start working out, I did exercise one day last week (I think it was Tuesday?). I know I need to exercise, and eat better. I did good yesterday up until dinner when I scarfed down 3 pieces of pizza, 2 breadsticks, 3 scoops of rainbow sherbert and 1/2 glass of Pepsi. Today's another day though, right?

I thought I might have seen a hint of spring yesterday. We can hope anyway. One of my cold weather options is to do Walk Away The Pounds videos. You don't need much room and they aren't to expensive. Not as good as getting outside, but better than nothing.
It is finally nice enough I can go out and put up the swing set I bought a few weeks ago. Between rain and snow and ice and just plain cold I haven't been able to get it set up. Yesterday would have been a good day but I spent the day helping my daughter in law buy a car. Better get busy though or I won't get anything done today

Welcome Cali Debbie,
Hang in there.... Winters aren't always this cold or snowy here. Spring will ne here in no time

Just completed a 1.5 mile walk with the family on this fine day, doing some shopping and then hitting the trampoline withthe kids and then to the bike.
I dressed intentionally to work out so there was no excuse not to keep exercising when I got home.
Have already exceeded my yearly workout minute goal and hope to get closer to possibly doubling it.

Enjoy the sunshine

Never got motivation yesterday. I have done my 40 on the treadmill. Had to go and change the battery in my daughter in laws car, it was dead. Sure hope she finds a car to buy soon, that jeep is pretty old and not very reliable. It is doing well, but it is a matter of time before it dies completely. At least I got to see my grandson, don't get near enough time with him.
Having a good food day, how about you guys, how is it going.

Hello,
hope everyone is having a good day. My good computer is dead so I am on an old one that freezes up every 2 seconds. I am getting really frustrated. It is still under warranty, but I have to mail it to them so who knows how long I will be without it. I want to scream. Did 30 minutes on the bike today. Need to do something more, but now my mood is crappy and I am having a hard time getting motivated.

Good Morning Everyone,
It has been an exhausting weekend. Had to take my daughter in law to get a car on Friday, it was a 2 hour drive over to where it was. Then Saturday we had to take it back, it had some problems. Luckily they just gave her her money back but that was alot of driving and I was pooped. I don't mind driving, I love it but for some reason it really wore me out this weekend. I didn't get any exercise and that frustrated me. I did get on the treadmill first thing this morning. Hope 2 days lost isn't going to mess me up.
Have a great weekend everyone

recently ended up in the ER with what seemed to be a pinched nerve and Kidney stones, was absolutely wiped out for a week with barely being awake from the morphine and Oxy Cotton they had me on,
Back on track as of Sunday just gone and I'm so thrilled to be back.
So glad to be back -

Just got back to completing my 28 day boot camp challenge and just got my first 2 awards with 500 and 1000 workout minutes. Am so excited.

Looking forward to breaking into the newer me - one step at time

It is always good to turn a bad thing into something good. I don't wear makeup hardly ever either, but I feel better about myself when I do. Great job in the Tae Bo. You will probably drive him really crazy if you take everything he does that makes you mad and turn it into something fun and helpful. I will have to remember that when my daughter makes me feel that way.
I am glad it is rain to. Really windy, but not snowing.
I upped my treadmill to 40 minutes today, upped the treadmill to 18, okay so that isn't much more than 15 but up is up. My husband assembled my ab crunch chair thing and I did 50 crunches. My ribs are killing me from that. Feeling good all in all

My soon-to-be-ex husband woke me up at 6AM this morning thundering down the stairs. He's decided he's going to start running daily. Apparently he's giving up his precious soda for water too. I'd like to be optimistic and say he's trying to get healthy, but I know his food habits are not going to change.

I was perturbed. Then I decided to turn it into something positive and threw in a Tae-Bo tape while he was gone. I managed to get 20 mins of cardio and a core strength workout in this morning.

Then, after my shower, I put on makeup. MAKEUP! That's a huge deal because I haven't worn makeup in years (husband doesn't like it). I feel pretty good today and am just trying really hard not to let him get me down.

What else am I grateful for today? Rain instead of snow (at least as long as my roof doesn't leak).

I really am struggling to do any exercise. Not to the routine part yet. I did the ellpitcal today but haven't gotten on the treadmill. Don't know if I will either. Really tired today for some reason.
Glad to hear you were able to eat, even if you went over some. Once in a while won't hurt, just don't make it a habit.

Glad to hear you made good choices with food this weekend. I, on the other hand, did not. But I am not concerned. I'd been coming in under minimum calories for awhile (not by choice, anxiety made it physically impossible to eat without getting sick), so it was inevitable that my body would rebel. I'm just happy I'm eating again!

Adding a different exercise is a great idea, but regardless of the plateau, I definitely think it's good to get a good routine of exercise going before you work towards adding something or changing something up. If you feel you have that, maybe alternating the treadmill, elliptical, and bike would help break through the plateau!

Rain is back today emoticon . At least it is supposed to be warm for another day or 2. Had a good weekend with my food. That is really unusual since my hubby was home. He tends to make things really hard without meaning to. I am hitting a plateau though. Not surprised, I have had a few really good weeks so it is time. Need to alter my exercise, but I am just getting in the habit of what I am doing so changing is going to be an issue. Do you think adding another form will do the trick. I do 30 on the treadmill, 15 on the elliptical. I have an exercise bike to. I was thinking I could add 15 on that and maybe that would do it. Or should I just change them around what I do each day. I am not good when it comes to plateaus.

Beautiful day in East Tennessee! Cleaned my car, it really needed it. Dug out the weeds and leaves and other winter clutter from my little garden. It will need some new plants this year, like more lavender. Got some Bermuda grass I need to kill out of there before spring. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Mine does that to Mstaff. I really like that feature. I tend to overestimate myself. Nice to know for sure what I am getting.
Had a busy day today, Had to take my hubby to get new glasses. They sure make that a bigger chore than it should be. Tomorrow I am going north of Nashville with my daughter in law to look at a car for her. They totaled theirs out at Christmas and my son is stationed in Germany so I am trying to help her. Luckily with hubby home we can at least have someone with a bit of mechanical knowledge. They weather is nice to so that really helps. Well helps me anyway. Sunny and 54 degrees today. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I know a digital scale really helps me when it comes to potatoes (like baked sweet potatoes) and chicken, pork, etc. I always underestimate, and the scale really keeps me honest. What I really like about the one I got is that I can zero it out when I put a plate or something on there, so I get the true weight of the food without including what it's sitting on.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday!

One thing I need to work on if I am going to succeed in losing weight and keeping it off is portion control so I went out and bought a new digital food scale. (I had one of the antique models that you had to zero if the food container moved at all). The digital scale is great because you can measure in either ounces or grams. A lot of food labels have the info in grams. emoticon

I went in the gym yesterday to a little rain. When I came out I had to scrape the snow off one side of my car to see out the windows. I came down fast and hard and then quit. It's cold today but the sun is a good thing to see. Hope everyone had a great day!

It was cold today, but at least we didn't get snow. I had a good exercise day. decided to try 10 minutes on the elliptical, thought I was going to die after 2 and pushed myself through to 15 minutes. I was so excited. I also did my 30 on the treadmill. Tomorrow morning is line dance class, not much exercise but it is movement. Feeling really encouraged today. I even did my measurements, which I NEVER do. They were about what I expected.
Hope everyone is staying warm and burning calories.

We got a "dusting". It has all melted already even though it is only 35 out. The wind is blowing and it feels really cold.
I never made it to exercise yesterday. Have done 3 days this week so far, and my diet week starts on Friday. I will get on the treadmill after everyone leaves this afternoon. My goal is 3 days for right now. I am moving up the speed and duration, will move up the days eventually.
Nice that you can work at home sometimes. Especially when the weather is yucky.
Well better get moving or I will sit in front of this thing all day.
Hope everyone has a great day.

It did go north, lol. It's right in my backyard! I'm north of Nashville near the KY state line (Westmoreland area). We ended up with 2-3 inches and it's still coming down. I'm grateful my job allows me to work from home in bad weather, and normally I'd be thrilled, but that just means I'm stuck in the house with my soon to be ex. Figures this winter would be the snowiest one I've seen in a while! I think I'm ready for warmer weather.

And this gives me an opportunity to sneak in some strength training today, maybe do a small free Spark workout or something, along with some yoga and meditation. And since I didn't get my homework done last night, I must work on it today.

Hope everyone stays safe in this nasty weather!

Still raining here in middle TN Hope the snow goes north of us. Need to go do something resembling a workout. I ran errands today and didn't do my workout before I left. Now it is almost 10pm and I need to do something. My treadmill is kinda noisy and my granddaughter is asleep. I'm afraid it will wake her. Maybe do a video in my room I guess.

Yes, Diane those 50's with some sun were really nice yesterday. Hope the snow goes north.

Did my cardio today, legs are sore and tired. They are not used to all this attention being paid to them. Strength training and a little less cardio tomorrow. Don't want to miss my workout so I hope the snow stays away.

Hope everyone had a great day!

That sounds like a pretty stressful situation you are in. Just do the best you can I guess. Keep trying to get your exercise in, that will help your mental out look to. I have been hearing about zumba, but don't know what it is. I did 30 mins. on the treadmill, and sped it up from where I was last week. I just have to convince myself it won't kill me to take 30 minutes a day for something for myself. Always feel like I should be doing something different.
I challenged my daughter and daughter in law to be to lose weight with me. My DIL is extremely over weight and her 9 yr old daughter is following in her foot steps. I can't just say "hey you are fat, lets do something about it" so I said I need some support at home, would you guys work with me. They agreed to but I don't know if the will follow through.
The sun was out for a while today, but it is raining now. We actually got into the 50's though. I really enjoyed that. Hopefully tomorrow will be nice to

Hey KAREBEAR29, I'm somewhat nearby in Westmoreland, but I don't have a membership at that fitness center. However, if you ever want a walking buddy or something on the weekends, just let me know! When it gets warmer, I'd like to find some local area parks to walk & even hike in.

I prefer a workout buddy too. My best friend & I go to Zumba once a week all the way in Watertown. But I work in Nashville, she drives, and I really like the type of workout they do. I'd like to go 2x a week eventually with her. I have a blast when we do that. When it snowed last week, we tried some free comcast on demand workouts and had a great time.

I used to go hiking with my husband, but now because of the divorce, I'm hoping to find some local people interested in doing that once it gets warmer.

Thanks for the support about my last post. The papers were filed last week & the hearing is set for March 25th. The most difficult part is that he's still living at the house until he finds a job/place to live. While I'm not as concerned about him, I'm concerned for my 8 year old stepson who has an autistic spectrum disorder. This isn't his fault, and I'm not going to punish him and turn his world completely upside down by kicking him out. So I've agreed that they can stay through the end of the school year, but at that point, my husband has to leave regardless.

DOLFINGRL0082, thanks for the comment on resting. The emotional strain has taken a toll on my physically. But it's hard to rest at the house when faced with my "roommate." I have been taking the workouts slow and just focusing on good sleep, good eating habits, and trying to find new friends and hobbies. I'm sorry your week has started out so badly - I hope the day got better.

Monday is a struggle for me. Beginning of the busy week, it's usually the day I feel most down about life, and today is no exception. But I'm trying to stay upbeat and just work through it. Things will be looking up by Wednesday :)

Hope everyone else is having a great Monday! Let's all hope...no snow this week!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Did the grocery store and then spent an hour and a half at the gym. Had a really good workout.

Anne - Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to absorbing as much motivation and positivity as I can from here. Car trouble really blows! Hope everything comes out okay.

TNCamper - We are gonna keep up those baby steps, and before long we will see our acomplishments.

Diane - I don't have anyone to walk with either, that's why I just do the treadmill. I can't wait until it gets warmer so I can walk outside. We have a big field with a few hills that I walk in. It's so nice to get outside. Just have to watch out for the coyotes. I don't think they would bother me, but they are still a little scary. Once when I was walking, I looked up and there were a family of them just hanging out near the woods. Two adults and two pups, I about lost it. I just froze and backed up and then ran for the gate.

Hello to all! :D Hope everyone has a great start to their week!
Welcome DNC! Congrats on your sobriety! I wish you the best and this is a great place for support! :D
My Monday has started out not so hot...Check engine light on in the car and then I rolled down the window slightly to flag someone to go around me (dropping my son off at the bus stop) and now it's stuck, the motor went out. The window is stuck down-can't even be forced up & the hubby is out of town...So, yea-not a great start to the morning. I don't think it can get worse...at least that's a better way of looking at things. OY....

I went to a gym for a while, I really didn't like it. I like walking at the park or something outdoors much better. Don't know if I would have liked it better if I had a buddy. I don't have any friends here so I will probably never know. I just have to do what I do and hope for the best

I like to do my gym workout alone. I put on my headphones and get into my own zone. The ladies at the gym probably think I am a snob cause I don't talk to anyone. I just get into my workout. If someone does speak to me I do say "hi", am not a total brat, lol. I do like walking with someone though, cause you can socialize and catch up on the latest gossip and stuff.

No more snow for E. Tennessee please! Ready for Springtime.

Hi, this is my first time visiting this forum. My name is Kim and I am from Maryville, in E. TN. Hoping to get back in shape. I have gained about 20 or so pounds over the last year or so. I lost my job in July of 2009. About 10 months before that I went through out-patient program for alcohol and depression. Sober now since October of 2008. Went through the program a second time for depression, suicidal thoughts and anexiety right before I lost my job. I turn 50 this year and am looking for a new start. Motivation is my big problem and sticking with something. Thats why I am here, looking for friends, support and motivation through this new journey.

I've been praying Diane!! Let us know soon!

This week has been pretty good other than me breaking one of my goals and weighing early. I hope tomorrows results are wayyyyy different! :/

Don't really have too much on the agenda for this upcoming weekend. Jaden is supposed to have a soccer game-yea, if the snow doesn't cancel it b/c of bad roads.

Well, I'm doing some laundry and house work-then have to pick Jaden up from the bus stop....hope everyone is having a great day

Survived our trip to Nashville. We will know in a few days if they saw anything. Had lunch at Golden Corral. Chey always picks there. I had salad and some rotisserie chicken. Managed to keep my calories in line. I am dead tired. Been going since 4:30 this morning. Hubby had to leave then we left around 6. Makes for a very long day. Took all of the 3 hours I gave us to get there. Glad I don't have to make that drive every day.

I believe it was Mstaff (sp?) ~Take it easy hun! You have a lot going on and if your body is saying to rest, you definitely need to listen! Hope all goes smoothly with the rest of your week!

Well, I'm back from Ohio. Had a great trip. I know I definitely didn't keep within goals. But, I wasn't horrible. Just lots of empty calories when we went out at night;)

Good job on those who went to the movies and didn't get popcorn! YOU ARE GOOD!!!!!

Well, I'm off of here to make my weekly menu and to go to the grocery. I hope everyone has a great day!

Sounds like you had a pretty good weekend. I went car shopping today with my daughter in law My husband is stationed in Germany so I am trying to help her find a car. They totaled hers at Christmas time. No one was hurt thank goodness. We have found her a few possibilities.
Sorry to hear your life is so stressful Mstaff. Went through a divorce when my kids were younger. Don't wish it on anyone. Just keep looking forward.
Have to go to Nashville tomorrow to take my 6 yr old granddaughter for an ultrasound at Vanderbilt Childrens Hosp. She has digestive issues and we are just trying to find out what is going on. Have to leave around 6am to get there through rush hour. It is about a 2 hour drive so I am giving me an extra 45 minutes, hope that is enough.
Have a great day

It was so great to see the sun this weekend and see the snow melt. I used to love the snow because I'd see so little of it here growing up, but now that I'm older with a job and I HAVE to go out in it, it's not as much fun anymore!

I got quite a bit accomplished this weekend. Oil and windshield wipers changed, spent at least 2 hours at the store, went through a cedar chest & the dresser in my bedroom to get out my (soon to be ex) husband's stuff, church, and most of the divorce paperwork complete. I even made the effort to cook a real meal Saturday night. Apple/cranberry stuffed pork tenderloin with oven-roasted red potatoes. It turned out really well, and I'm eager to try a new dish next weekend.

Compared to what I could do in one weekend a year ago, I am definitely making huge strides. Therapy, 30lbs of weight loss, and self-motivation have helped me cover quite a bit of ground this year. I just wish I could sustain this energy. I crashed on my parents' couch for about 4 hours yesterday. The emotional turmoil in my life is forcing me to rest more than I would like & slowly build up. But I am proud of what I accomplished.

How did everyone else's weekend go? Big week ahead? I've got my next semester of classes starting up, filing divorce papers (the most stressful item on the list), CPR training at work, Zumba, church, and work. I think I'll breathe a little easier come Thursday.

That is exactly right. To each his own. I am not a big movie person, not sure why. I love the theater we went to, great chairs. It was a fun day anyway. Hubby and I don't get alot of time to just goof off. That isthe important part of it all.

Back from seeing True Grit. I though it was awful. My hubby didn't like it either. Not surprised at that though. He likes John Wayne to much to like someone else playing his role.
Didn't have popcorn and ate Subway on the way home, off to log my food. See how it went

We got up to 43 today, still cold but alot nicer. Went with my son to look at a house, not a good option. As you walk across the kitchen floor it started cracking and giving. Tomorrow I guess I am going to have to have lots of willpower cause my hubby wants to go see the new True Grit movie. I will have to deal with no popcorn emoticon . I am pretty sure he won't like it cause he is the worlds biggest John Wayne fan.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

We had some sunshine today to. It was still really cold. Got my electric bill today. May have to take a second mortgage to pay it.
My weigh in was canceled last night, has kinda thrown me off. I haven't done as well today. Not horrible, but I found myself munching a couple of times. I am about to go log my food and see how bad it was. Shouldn't be horrible, but I am really trying hard to stay at 1200 cals a day. Deep breath and off I go

Hooray! The sun is shining bright and the weather is a LITTLE warmer. I can deal with almost anything if I have sunshine.

Have a great day, all!

AHHH 60 would be so nice. Bonny you are not the only one hating this weather. I hate it.

Movie popcorn is one of my weaknesses. So I stay away from the theaters.

Hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Oh my gosh-60 degree weather sounds heavenly right now! LOL!
@ Diane-I LOVE movie theatre popcorn....It's my fav! Popcorn is actually one of my vices. It's not a bad one to have, just as long as I track it....and I do, everyday-it's my night time snack! LOL!

I agree with that 100%. I moved here to get away from all this snow and cold. My son made the comment a week or so ago that he was never shoveling snow again so I told him this was all his fault.

If the weather would get to 60, I'd have plans for the weekend. I think my plans are to stay inside wrapped up in at least 6 blankets! I hate this weather. THERE, I said it!

I want to do something fun this weekend, just haven't figured out what yet. I don't have any family any where near to visit, don't like going to the movies (I love movie theater popcorn) Guess I will just have to play it by ear. I'm sure something will come up. Have to go to Nashville on Tuesday to take my granddaughter for some tests at Vanderbilt. I may go do some shopping while she and her mother are there. I really don't want to sit there for however long it is going to take. Nothing serious, just some tummy issues we need to figure out. I was just outside and it is flurrying again. Hope we don't get much, I am not in the mood lol.
Good night all
