I hear you. Problems beget problems, and the more health issues one has, the harder it is to get the energy and momentum to deal with them. And you're right: if we don't address the weight head on, trying to fix everything else is treating the symptoms, not the disease.

It is tough, though. No doubt. I'm with you. emoticon emoticon emoticon

hello everyone

I have been struggling with my health lately. I just had ankle fusion surgery in August. I gained about 30 pounds since July. I am so upset. I can not weight bear for another 3-4 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to turn this around?

Unfortunately at this time, beans are out of the question. Just meat and veggies is all I can eat. I have managed to keep 2 eggs down this morning. So hopefully I can add that as a protein as well. It's a mental struggle for me as I am vegan but due to this medication I have to eat meat. I try not to think about it.

Thanks for the support!! emoticon

I am worth it. I just sometimes have to remind myself of that!

Hope you get a better control of the arthritis in your knee Cat. I suffer with arthritis in my knee too, but thank God the arthritis is not inflamed right now.
After I complained about not losing any weight recently, I got on the scale this morning and it showed a 2 pound weight loss. emoticon

I'm struggling with health problems in general. Arthritis, inflammation, joint problems, a knee injury, etc. It is definitely affecting my energy levels and ability to enjoy life. Day by day, I guess.

Different types of beans are a source of protein....if you can eat them.

I struggle with eating enough protein. I am not a big meat eater and I am on some medication that does not allow for any carbs (they really upset my stomach).

I am trying more recipes to try to get in as much protein each day as I can but it is difficult for me.

I am worth it. I just sometimes have to remind myself of that!

Make sure you're drinking water & moving when you can. Sometimes, you have to completely change things up with eating, etc.

I've been eating the foods I should eat, and hardly any snacking at all, but I haven't lost any weight in about 2 week. I guess I am going through a plateau.

I started my weight loss in Aug 2015 and that is what I am using as my benchmark for my 100 lbs in 1 yr. I am down 53 lbs as of today and plan to have the next 47 off by June.

I have found that the thing I am struggling with the most is my marriage. As I lose weight and change my thoughts around food, exercise, etc, I am having so very little patience for the BS that has been going on for the past 15 years.

Therapy has been engaged, but has anyone else had this happen?

Good evening ladies. Hope you enjoyed a nice Saturday with family and or friends. This is my first time back to this site for a while. The last time I came here there was a note that said the team was inactive, and that seems like only a couple of weeks ago. I'm very glad to see some activity now. I love the team's goal, and would love to work towards losing 25 pounds per quarter.
Cat, hope your knee feels better soon.

Haha - well, I was. Nothing recently. My left knee has arthritis and a torn meniscus. I can barely walk. And that's not even my "big" health problem. It's sad to feel so decrepit, but I need to face how hard I've been on my body, salvage what I can and go forward. It's not the exuberant statements of most sparkers, but it fits my reality. If I take good care of myself, there might be more races in my future. Fingers crossed.

Have fun with your training! emoticon

Goodness Cat - I just peeked at your SparkPage. You're a runner!! You are so awesome!!! emoticon

I've been trying to run for almost a year, and I am no where near marathons yet.

If you are on Facebook, check out a group called Not Your Average Runner. SO much positive encouragement to be found there for "curvy girls". Shutting down my Inner Mean Girl was the first valuable lesson I got!

I'm writing checks my body can't cash. I've been burning the candle at both ends, and it's taken a toll. I'm trying to look at this as he first steps, but the pain is really affecting me. Oh well. People deal with worse every day, and losing weight would help, so I do need to stay focused no matter what.

How is everyone else doing? Happy Hump Day!

Cat, I'm sorry you are struggling. Pain, ill health, and in and out of the hospital = frustrating and discouraging.

Sometimes our bodies just need to rest and repair. Sometimes they rebel and we have to be the boss. Do you know which camp you fall into?

Commit to just one healthy choice a day. Even small changes matter! (And you will feel like a conqueror!)

Congrats on your HUGE weight loss! I'm sorry you gained a few pounds back, but the achievement is no less special for that.

I'm struggling with pain and ill health. I've been in and out of hospital since new year's eve and am struggling right now. emoticon

I'll get the ball rolling...

I'm stuck. Seriously!

Lost 100 pounds, then gained back 10 in July. I can NOT for the life of me get those 10 back off! I'm happy, I'm healthy, I'm feeling good about how far I've come. Just feeling a little frustrated that I'm working so hard for so little "number" results.

I know the first step is to start tracking food again, lol. It is honestly so much trouble to input a recipe that I can't bring myself to do it. THAT got even more frustrating than not losing!
