Hi everyone!
I am turning 40 this month, and am really hoping to fly to Florida to visit my sister this year. Kind of a "while I am 40 bucket list" kind of thing mixed with an "overcoming a fear" kind of thing.
I have never flown. I am not scared of the flying itself... but I am scared to death of the flying while fat experience. There are so many horror stories about how other passengers treat plus size travelers, plus the fear of not fitting in the seat, and the fear of encroaching on a stranger's space. And what if I'm too fat for the seat belt extender?
I would be flying Allegiant because it's a direct flight- no need to worry about finding my way around multiple strange airports, or trying to get through the crowd to get to the next gate on time. I already plan on paying for two seats to help cut down on the anxiety of bugging a stranger by sitting too close to them, and that way I won't have to worry about being too big for 1 seat and being bumped from the flight. And I am hoping to fly down at the same time as a friend flies down to visit her Mom- I don't want to fly by myself the first time.
How have your experiences been while flying? And does anyone have any tips on how to pack as a plus-sized passenger? Bigger clothes take up more space- how do you manage to pack for a week or week and a half? Any tips at all about things to do, things to look out for, ways to make flying easier would be very greatly appreciated!
